75 Cents to a Dollar were my platonic ideal for comic book pricing. It seemed like it took only a couple years to jump from $1 to $2. 20 issues for $20 was an affordable weekly or bi-weekly habit.

Back in the day, DC tried to teach kids about inflation!

Just for the heck of it, here's the cover of that issue (spoilerized for size):

^ Interesting. I've heard of the strip, but never read any of it. I do enjoy a number of the older classic strips - Blondie, Mutt and Jeff, Bringing up Father, Krazy Katt - I might have to dig into this one a bit.

Unfortunately, Pip and Norton are also included. Read the tweet if you don’t know who created these characters.

I know about 10% of those characters.

Yet I'm disappointed that Omaha the Cat Dancer didn't make the cut.

Yeah, there are some prominent characters that are absent... Omaha, The Crow, Mage, Grimjack, Dreadstar, Hepcats...

Lot of Allred characters on there, though.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

Oh, that's another one.

Also no Groo or The Walking Dead folks. There are actually a ton of post-2000 Image Comics characters that could probably have been included, but aren't there. A bunch of Allred's The Atomics are there, Invincible by Kirkman, and Fraction and Ba's Casanova is represented. The characters represented seem to lean heavily toward the 80s and early 90s.
