Re: Random comic-related pic thread
If you've ever read that Batman comic where they're going on about "boners" (which, in 1950s slang, meant bone-headed mistake), I can't help but think they had to know. There's phallic imagery all over the story like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a reference to John Dillinger.
Hell, this is, I shit you not, the cover of the comic in question...

I wonder when the current slang meaning of the word was coined?

So odd to put Roman numeral 2 on the costumes. For me though, being the 2nd, I liked seeing these stories as a kid as what I felt was part of my name was on a superhero.

16 issues for $6.50! Those were the days! Though a lot of my came folded or bent sometimes which drove me nuts. But I didn't bag and board until the late 80's so as a kid, I didn't really care too much. I only had a couple of these subs in my day but damn, that 10 week wait for tough to get that first issue. I remember wondering if they would ever actually come.

1984 - I know many of you like The Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe and I thought this was interesting.

When a comic book shop opened up nearby, I never looked back and only relented years later on subs for Wizard the Magazine and Overstreet's Fan.

I usually post Tom the Dancing Bug in the Politics forum, but today's comic isn't political. For any followers of the Ruben Bolling, he spoofs classic comics quite a bit - which encompasses much of today's festivities:
