Random comic-related pic thread

I've been thinking about starting one of these, and Darwyn Cooke's Red Sonja gave me the final push.

I am a child of the 80s, so I started reading comics in the late 80s. Tim Drake is therefore "my" Robin. He is my favorite character of all time. (Until the New 52 completely ruined his character, but that's another story...)

The double page spread below is from Batman #457 which is the issue where Tim officially becomes Robin. I loved that issue, and that spread is probably my favorite piece of comic art of all time. It's drawn by Norm Breyfogle, who is also my all time favorite artist, not just for Batman art, but for all art period.

Double page spread in spoiler tags due to size:

 the Noid pic. Never expected a comic-nerd discussion to break out in that thread.

You should expect a comic-nerd discussion to break out in any thread that I post in.

After DC screwed up the transition to Jason Todd, I thought they handled introducing Tim far more smoothly. He is the second-best Robin, after Dick of course.

Dick had the misfortune of being Robin before storytelling really matured out its simplistic childish roots. Comics start maturing in the 1970s, but by then Dick was off to college and wasn't really having many adventures as Robin anymore. Dick was always best as Nightwing in my opinion.

In my continuity Bruce has retired and married Selina. Dick is now Batman, though I have nothing against him as Nightwing.

Sounds like the end of The Dark Knight Rises.

Except I was thinking of it in the early 1990s. They still owe me royalties.

To be fair, Batman marrying Catwoman was done before even the 1990s. I remember reading a trade paperback I bought as a kid in the 1980s called The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told. One issue reprinted in that trade was The Brave and the Bold #197 from 1983.

Batman and Catwoman marry in that issue.

Ah! The Pre-Crisis Earth Two where Dick remained Robin well into his 40s.

I always thought he was so lame and he would always show up at the annual JLA/JSA team up in that ridiculous costume.

The cool thing about B&B was that Bob Haney did whatever he wanted because all the stories were outside of DC's continuity.

Was that from a trading card? Some of those Marvel trading cards had better art than the actual comics, since I think the card companies were paying better money.
