I'd avoided it for today, but just went back in. Blind-bought Moon Knight epics, Abnett-Lanning Guardians, Bendis Daredevil, Absolute Vision, and more classic What Ifs.

Where's the 'Add All' button?

After this much time it's starting to look more and more like this isn't a 'glitch,' whatever Marvel is trying to pull off seems baffling. Bleeding Cool, Polygon, Android Authority, and many others have issued an article on the sale and it's certainly obvious.

It really does seem to be legit. Maybe the Marvel sellthrough people have a side bet with the Marvel Unlimited people and decided to go all out to undercut them.

As a heavy sale buyer in the past, it's been frustrating seeing so many owned already books. I bet I could have saved two grand over the last few years if I had waited until today to buy everything.

Maybe it's just because Wonder Woman is out so it's some sort of weird counter programming

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I thought maybe Marvel was going to strike out on its own and ditch Amazon/comixology, and Amazon is screwing with them before the plug is pulled. Because if it's not a glitch and it's not that, it makes absolutely no sense.

Stuff that came out last week is on sale for 2 bucks. Last week. Why would I ever buy a four dollar single issue again? Heck the 99c digital sales are looking like a raw deal. I just bought a bunch of Transformers issues in their current sale and cringed at the price.

Plus why wouldn't this be on comixology as well?

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

But marvel just signed in with Comixology unlimited. Why would they be bailing so soon? I almost feel like it's a move to get everyone to completely buy into digital once and for all. I agree that my sense of value is completely screwed up now, but at the same time I'm now committed to collecting digitally on a level that I potentially wasn't thanks to this sale. Who knows. Maybe marvel was just short on cash and needed to raise some capital.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

If anything, I bet it convinced a ton of people to finally link their Amazon and comixology accounts.

Even if they get new digital devotees in this sale, nobody's going to be buying stuff at full price. Heck if they remained stubborn and never had a sale again, the stuff I bought yesterday alone would sustain me for years and years, I think.

That having been said, in the spirit of competition if DC wants to follow suit, I'm all for it.

I'm a sucker for most stories that involve humorous fringes of established superhero fare. I've probably only read a couple Lockjaw or Pet Avenger stories, but enjoyed them enough to buy the three collections.

But don't take advice from me, I've probably bought more than 2/3 of the entire Marvel digital library. I did stop myself before buying Tsum Tsum Avengers, but not until after Hip Hop Marvel Covers.

And don't hate me, but don't forget that this sale is also active with their Max and Icon lines.

I have a problem. I just bought Marvel Tsum Tsum and I'm tempted by Pet Avengers. In my defense I have young kids. Ok, no, there's no defense.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

This morning's deep dive led my to the Dark Tower adaptations. Stephen King and Peter David? Win! And their discount was pretty steep. I think I got books compiling about 80 comics for ~$25.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I wish we knew how long this sale woud last. I think I've got what I 'need' at a degree it'll take me years to read (nearly ever Spider-man and Thor trade) and even a bunch of bottom barrel fluff I'll maybe never read (Skull the Slayer, Marvel Frontier)... but if it continues what's left of my willpower may be further emasculated.

I really want the Weapon X series, currently $0.99/issue on Cmx, but no way can I pay those prices right now.

Has anyone read Avengers K? I think I'll pass because not a fan of shortened reimaginings but it does look curious. Not going to do it...

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Ahhhh! Make it stop! I think I've spent about $450 at this point, but I can't be sure because everything is done with the "1-click buy it now" button so it all shows up as $2-$6 micro-transactions. I'm kind of too scared to add it all up. And I've only just begun to scratch the surface. Other than a bunch of Brubaker Cap (and a couple of odds and ends), I haven't bought anything from this century. I also haven't touched Hulk or Dr. Strange or X-Men or Daredevil to name just a few. My wife and I are moving into a new (more expensive) house this month and I've been trying to limit spending the last few months. And I was doing so well...

Well, at least I had been doing good at selling stuff on ebay and not spending too much money lately. Guess I will be diving into this one today.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Have never bought digital comics before. I have a fire tablet and Prime. Do I need anything else to read these after purchase? I'm mostly interested in the Noir titles and would be interested in maybe some early TOS, TTA, amazing Fantasy pretty hero issues. Not a lot, but would I be better just getting Marvel Unlimited for a year for $69.99 and having access to much more, or is there a benefit to doing the Amazon sale?
