Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Free book, for a limited time on Comixology (I'm not allowed to add a link, so just search for the book on Comixology instead):

Injection #1 is FREE this weekend!

Once upon a time, there were five crazy people, and they poisoned the 21st Century. Now they have to deal with the corrosion to try and save us all from a world becoming too weird to support human life. INJECTION is the new ongoing series created by the acclaimed creative team of Moon Knight. It is science fiction, tales of horror, strange crime fiction, techno-thriller, and ghost story all at the same time. A serialized sequence of graphic novels about how loud and strange the world is getting, about the wild future and the haunted past all crashing into the present day at once, and about five eccentric geniuses dealing with the paranormal and numinous as well as the growing weight of what they did to the planet with the Injection.

I can't seem to find a reader that works perfectly with all formats. I also haven't really looked into quality concerns to see if one format vs. another generally has better quality.

It all depends on what resolution they use. After all, CBZ files are basically JPG image files gathered together in one Zip file. Comixology uses good resolution, from what I've seen, but some CBZ files offered on various bundles, for instance, used low resolution, so that when zoomed-in, you see the images pixelated or blurred. This of course lowers the file size, but it's really not worth it.
I was wondering the same thing about finding a reader for files that aren't in comixology or kindle. There are a few iOS options both free and paid, but hard to distinguish.

FWIW, I downloaded one title from the Dynamite Groupees bundle, and it was in all three formats. CBZ was 43 KB, epub was 34 KB, and PDF was 148 KB. Just one example, though.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

New collection sale from DC until 8/24/15, nine Harley Quinn books at $4.99 each. It includes some of those Ame-Comi books, so hopefully no one bought them in last weeks's 'sale'.
https://www.comixology.com/Harley-Quinn-Sale/page/7803

New sale from Top Shelf on some League of Extraordinary Gentlemen books. I think there may have been a bundle that included some of these, but I can't find it.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

This is probably my last post for a bit, leaving on a week long cruise tomorrow and hopefully won't be paying $20 a day for wifi. If someone else would pick up my slack and post the deals while I'm gone I'd appreciate it.

The weekly freebie from the Comixology podcast is a Red and the Wolfe issue #1 with code REDPOD.

Trevor, I'll help cover for you while you're gone (as much as I can).

Enjoy the cruise!

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Thanks user and BB! I'm sure I will. The trick is getting serious about my diet again when I get back. I've gained back about half of the 75 pounds I lost, and figure I'll gain at least a pound a day on the cruise. Last week of gluttony before jogging season!

It is too bad you can't read digital comics while jogging outside. Then we might all be thinner. Enjoy your vacation! At least where I will be next week (Disney World) has free wifi so I won't miss any deals.

The question is, how many digital comics will Trevor bring with him on his table in a futile effort to trim his backlog?

Have fun!

Thanks. And I've loaded my tablet with 12 fantasy-qualifying collections, a mixture of Conan and Fables. And yes, I imagine that pre-loading that many was not at all necessary. But we are cruising towards a hurricane, so perhaps I'll have some reading time(as long as the Draminine works).

Have a good trip! And remember that all-inclusive cruises mean that the more you consume, the better deal it is!

Trevor's going on a week long cruise? Cue the linewide DC Comics sale!

Have fun, I just got back from a cruise after getting cleaned out on blackjack and bloated on iffy food (Carnival's food was hit/miss)... have a great time! Best part was hanging out on the top of the ship.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

My best Trevor impersonation:

Marvel's one day (8/21/15) sale is on 28 issues of Young Avengers (v1 1-12+, Avengers: Children's Crusade 1-9, and 6 issue Young Avengers Presents) for $0.99/issue - https://www.comixology.com/Avengers-...Sale/page/7855

Red Sonja classics sale until 8/24; The Adventures of Red Sonja 1-22 in $0.99 singles, $6.99x3 trades, or overpriced $24.99x3 black/white collections - https://www.comixology.com/Adventure...Sale/page/7793

Walking Dead bundles repeat, 1-48 or 49-96, for $39.99 each (unsure how long, but I suspect these are always in the bundles section) - https://www.comixology.com/The-Walki...dles/page/7828

Humble added two new collections to the Dungeons & Dragons bundle so now contains nearly every IDW D&D digital issue available: https://www.humblebundle.com/books

Dark Horse Digital has 47 issue Bureau of Paranormal Research and Development [B.P.R.D.] sale this weekend $0.99 singles - https://digital.darkhorse.com/genre/234/

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

If I didn't just spend 90 bucks on Saga, Deadly Class, and my weekly pulls I'd definitely take advantage of the Walking Dead sale. Oh well it seems to go on sale fairly often so I'll just wait for the next one.

Good job though Undeadcow.

Again, I can't post a direct link, but you can easily find it on Comixology:

Marvel's 8/24 only sale is 32 issues of Avengers: The Initiative [1-30, annual, + special]. Sale misses final 5 issues (31-35), which were included in a recent 'Siege' event sale.
