He's a good writer - yes, but I often find myself disappointed in his stories' endings. Especially with "The Fade Out" - the very passive ending left me frustrated.

Can anyone recommend any of the Guardians of the Galaxy volumes on sale at Amazon right now? Haven't really read any of them, although I think I flipped through Cosmic Avengers a few years back when the first movie came out.

There's a new Clone Saga collection sale at Comixology with 11 ~400 page each omnibuses going for $4.99 each until 12/12/16.

I agree the Abnett and Lanning run is great but it's better in context with Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, etc. To that end my recommendation is To get an Unlimited subscription instead (or get all the Omniboo). It's the problem I've had with most of the recent Marvel sales, but that's probably a personal thing. But surely a great read.

Bendis goes on a lengthy run with them and I read most of it in Unlimited... it crosses over to his other stuff (like all new XMen) a lot, and in general he just completely rewrites the characters as he pleases, and you can actually see them morph into their movie counterparts over time.

Hmm, that's actually a little disappointing since I was hoping for something a little bit more standalone.

Of course they are, since I recently bought them all at ~$10 each.

I don't know if Amazon is trying to undercut the physical market or what, but they have a number of recent releases at $9.99, including Jim Starlin Captain Marvel, Power Man/IF Epic Revenge, Black Panther Masterworks 2, and Steve Gerber Man-Thing 2. A few weeks ago, I jumped on a "deal" for Classic Son of Satan at $11.99, only to see it drop to $9.99 a little later.

Clone Saga takes so much flak that I keep thinking I should know it better, though I think I did get the first TPB from the library a couple years ago. It might be something I save for when or if I ever get Marvel Unlimited.

I think the Abnett/Lanning stuff stands up well on its own, it's just better with all the other cosmic stuff going on at the time (and if you're familiar with Starlin's Warlock).

The Bendis stuff... well that's more modern Marvel where stuff is interconnected. You'll have Tony join up, then disappear, same with Angela and others. And then that Black Vortex crossover went to like five different titles. That's one reason why I gave up and just read it on MCU, I was tired of buying titles and still missing part of the story for recent runs, plus the delay isn't that bad since I can't keep up anyway.

I love Marvel Unlimited almost as much as my own child, and I would never dissuade anyone from subscribing, but reading something like the Clone Saga on MU could be sort of painful. There's no ability to create reading lists or anything, so reading any storyline that bounces back and forth across multiple series can be a chore. The MU catalog is also a bit thin when it comes to all of the various "secondary" series from the 80's and 90's. I think the Clone Saga is mostly complete on MU, but I'd be surprised if all of the various odds and ends in those trades were accounted for.

That site is pretty great. Unfortunately, the MU links only work for reading in a web browser as opposed to reading in the far superior ios/Android app.

Walking Dead collections sale at Comixology. Seems like Walking Dead is on sale every other week in some form or another.

Anyone ever remember seeing a sale for AAM-Markosia comics? They have a few trades I am interested in, but I would rather wait for a sale if they ever have one.

Man that's basically all of Uncanny XMen on sale right now. I have a huge gap in my digital collection but just can't bear to buy the Austen issues just to fill it.

That's the great thing about trades. I like how single issues display in my digital collection, but I tend to still get collections, mostly for price but also for easy reading. However, wildly diverse collections (like, say, the DC 75 collections) in which I skip around a lot are kind of pain in digital.

Well if you like trades, does Marvel have a sale for you...

Have to remind myself, I have Marvel Unlimited, I don't need to buy anything else...

Anyone interested in the Art of Atari book; while it's part of the Dynamite sale for $15.99 it's only $9.99 on Amazon (comixology compatible)

Yeah, they're pretty great. I got caught up on so many great Image titles at the end of last year because of the line wide sales. It kind of spoiled me.

If anyone is looking for Image recommendations I'll throw out Manifest Destiny, Birthright, and Rumble.

Picked up Kaijumax from Oni.

Also picked up the series Tomboy from Action Lab but it wasn't on sale.
