I stand corrected. Actually, I read them by the trades, so not really up-to-date on the issue scheduling. Hoping the last trade will come out soon enough following the final issue. And hoping they'll have a sale for it as well by then

Looks like the final trade is due out in January.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

There an Image "Black Friday" sale on Comixology on TPs, with some going over the 50% discount, which is rather nice:

Any other Black Friday digital comic sales expected?

Damn it! I've been waiting for a big Image sale but I don't do collections. Oh well I guess they saved me some money by doing it this way.

I don't get that. In digital form - a page from within an issue is the exact same as the same page in the TP. So that basically you can even download the trade CBZ file, open it and split it to CBZ files per issue and you get pretty much the same thing as you would have by downloaded the issues separately.

Well, minus the ads and letter pages, I guess.

But my point is that in digital form I don't really see the distinction between single issues and TPs. If one is cheaper than the other - that's the selling point for me, personally.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Marvel usually has a 'Black Friday Collections' sale on trades (but many of there recent trade sales have been an even better value than BFs past). Their current Carnage/Venom sale (which lasts for one week through Cyber Monday) seems like a standard sale so I expect them to have something 'up their sleeve.'

Dark Horse often has an epic linewide Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday deal.

Last year DC had a buy one get one free code for Cyber Monday.

I'd be surprised if Image doesn't eventually add single issues to their sale (I don't think they've ever had a trade only sale in the past [?]). Last year Image had a buy one get one free code active for Black Friday, which seems less likely given the current offerings.

I like to keep everything in one format. Also when space gets low it's also easier to manage the smaller files. And backmatter is definitely important too.

As a new convert to digital, I see the appeal of having single issues without having to do back-end work. It depends on the material, too. Short, sequential stuff like TWD is fine in a collection, but large anthologies with a wide range of stuff are harder to sift through to find what I want to read.

It's amusing to me but Image has a a series of 'bundles' with their Black Friday sale items included at even bigger discounts for those willing to throw down $180-$300.

If the price is close, I prefer whichever format has the most back matter. Iirc, Image has a lot of stuff in the singles and nothing in collections. Other companies are the opposite.

I don't see a page for the sale, but it looks like all the various secret wars battleworld mini-series singles are on sale for $.99 each.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Comixology has another DC BOGO!

Use code DC16; expires 11/28 at 11:59 pm ET. Rebirth titles are restricted to #1s and one-shots, and releases after 11/21 are not eligible.

A few spot-checks indicate that Amazon is matching the sale by just slashing the prices in half.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I think these overlapping sales are interesting; what 'powers that be' think it's a good idea to run concurrent linewide sales for DC, Valiant, and Dynamite overlapping with generous title specific offerings from Image and Marvel? If by some marketing genius they could spread these out a bit more I would probably foolishly blow paycheck and paycheck of money; but instead they have cornered me with just one paycheck (for now...). I 'get' that seasonal sales are traditional but digital comics hardly fit the mold of prospective holiday gifts so it didn't seem like the timing especially matters. [Not to be ungrateful about some good deals that are to be had].

There's now also a line-wide sale on Valiant which is sure to open up my wallet, and a "The Darkness" sale from Top cow.

Yeah, the challenge for me is not just the dollars but the time needed to dissect those large sales. I only bought some Nightwing volumes from the DC sale, but even that I needed to figure out which TPBs I had and what I could get on digital that I hadn't already read.

Yep, I posted that a couple weeks ago in this thread. Great prices.

Left the recent DC16 code in my cart, so it worked just now on the new DC digital first collection sale.

Just noticed that Vampirella v1 (2011) is free on Kindle; it doesn't say anything about Comixology so I assume it doesn't port over right now...

It looks like it's free to read if you have prime, but it's not added to your account as a book you own.

Huh, majorjoe is right--"free with Prime." I didn't even notice when I claimed it.

Fortunately I do have Prime--thanks, Undeadcow!

No one has mentioned the 99 cent Ed Brubaker Image sale. If you haven't picked up anything by him you really can't go wrong with any of the series.
