Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

The Delta Force 4K (Shout Factory) finally dropped to under $20, $17.99 to be exact. It's my favorite Chuck Norris movie even though I already have 3 BD copies of it. I got it.

I also got Last Action Hero 4K for $14.99

and Night of the Comet Scream Factory for $9.99

Some decent deals

Seems like most prices on blu-rays are the same as they have been. Are there any actual sales?

You just have to use a certain other site which crawls Amazon's listings for the best deals. Searching Amazon directly is almost useless by design.

Does that capture Lightning Deal pricing?

I also assume that it does not capture coupon discounts or Buy 2 Get 1 Free offers.

For some reason, I had a price watch for
China O'Brien 1 & 2 UHD China O'Brien 1 & 2 UHD
that triggered today, also had a 20% off coupon available in my area, so $26 total.

MAYBE at 4k; way too expensive in any other format. My memory is that the film isn't very good.

I'm not a fan of the movie *or* Madonna so, no. $5 would be my "might consider it" price. I certainly wouldn't buy it just for a song. That would be a CD purchase or just play it on Spotify to scratch the itch and forget it.

I thought it was a fun movie. Would I spend $18 on it? Only if I were a Madonna fan. It's a pleasant '80s romcom. It had a bad reputation when it came out only because critics weren't big fans of music stars like Madonna trying to become movie stars.

Do you want it? Can you afford it? If the answer is yes to both, then buy it.

Yes, but iffy on the 17.99 price tag since it's a Shout title and that's actually the lowest it has gotten. I wish it was released by the original studio WB for 9.99 instead but thanks for yall's inputs.

I THINK Warner once had it cheap, but it was discontinued & picked up by Shout.

I found out the hard way that the firmware on my Oppo is not compatible with Shout copyguards, so I avoid all Shout releases.

That whole thing is ridiculous. The few people who have br players on their computers have lots of copyguard software to choose from. When I have a nice br player & buy the disc, how dare thy throw this crao at me?

Fletch and Fletch Lives special edition from Kino Lorber dropped to $7.72 each.

I got it without hesitation. Been wanting the BD the last few years.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Glad I waited on a few of the Kino Lorber 4Ks as Amazon is much lower than their site sale prices.

Picked up Longest Yard for $12.79, High Noon for $12.38, Hatari for 12.59, and Two Mules for Sister Sara for $8.81 (had a coupon on it).

14.99 + 10% off coupon, so 13.49 right now for Who's That Girl, and I bit, mild Madonna fan but remembered the movie to be a hoot, and anything 80s still rule my world.

About the firmware thing, so OPPO is not anyway at fault here? oh well, I'm good with my Sony BD player.

They haven't provided a firmware update since 2019. I guess since the player is discontinued, but that is a bummer since it is such a great player otherwise.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

I mentioned that I got Fletch special edition and Fletch Lives for $7.72 each. Well, apparently many others got that deal as well.

Fletch Lives arrived 1st. But, Amazon emailed me that they are backordered on Fletch and it's been delayed twice. I had to approve that I still wanted it in two separate emails. Guess it was on a lot of people's wish lists and they got the deal alert.

I can wait.

Heads-up: Amazon has rejiggered some of their regional coupons. For instance, here in Upstate SC, I was "Mid-Atlantic", but now I'm classified as "Mid-South".

SC is *not* and has never been part of the Mid-South no matter what Amazon thinks! It's 100% Mid-Atlantic.

Here's the actual Mid-South area as envisioned by its creators:

Wikipedia says:
...anchored by the Memphis metropolitan area. Exact definitions vary widely and consist of at least West Tennessee, North Mississippi, Northeast Arkansas, Southern Missouri and Missouri Bootheel at a minimum. Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Middle Tennessee, Northwest Alabama, and even Eastern Oklahoma are also usually included. The region is bordered by the Ozarks to the north and west, by Appalachia to the east, and the Deep South to the south.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

There’s a ‘Buy 2 Get 50% Off One’ sale currently running. Not sure if it’s matching Target and not as good as their usual ‘B2G1 Free’ deals, but it’s something, I guess.

This link should just show the DVDs, Blus, and 4K offerings. If not you can filter:
