This exactly. Get that "smaller" Hammer set - it's quite good - and look for the others as you can. Take advantage of Shout! "sales" to get those under their control at more reasonable prices. The ones from Warner Archives are often sale priced. There are several UK collections but those seem to go OOP quickly and command stupidly high prices. A Sony 20 film set (from Mill Creek) is now apparently OOP - still can be found reasonably priced but... And there are still at least 5 of the "lesser" Hammer titles that've not yet received a BR release. Warner holds the rights to a few of that group.

I'm getting old. I was about to buy this, & discovered I already own it...............

The last 2 sets I bought I already owned. On a return of one I had opened & not played, Amazon charged me nearly a 50% "restock fee".

The biggest multi film Hammer sets that I’ve seen to date were each around 20 films but far from complete, of course. One was the Mill Creek 20-pack Blu-ray set mention a couple of posts back, which was all Columbia releases as I recall.

Amazon Amazon

And back in 2006 Optimum in the UK put out this DVD-only, region-coded 20-film set which I still hadn’t finished watching by the time various Blu-ray sets and editions started coming along. Sigh. I think this one had more of a mix because they weren’t restricted by U.S. studio affiliations.

I would imagine some UK company might be able to produce something closer to comprehensive, but at this point many of the films have had super-deluxe treatments – like Indicator’s six excellent Hammer Collection 4-film boxes, now OOP and super-pricey – that I wonder if the interest is there from many boutiques.

Many think we are on the verge of seeing select Hammer films on 4K UHD. Some rumors circulating in Europe from what I hear.

I'd just be happy if those still missing on BR show up on that format. There're are only a half dozen or so...

Not really a mega deal or anything but Mad City hit an all time low price of $7.99.

Finally bought it at that price point.

Only thing to keep in mind, it was a 10 episode season.

That's the lowest price it's ever been if you want to finish your Arrow collection. I was waiting for something that low, so I got it.

Now I need The Flash to get cheaper as well.
I was blown away to find the digital copy included with this Arrow set still works! You have to redeem it directly on VUDU/Fandango, bypass WB's own site.

The codesheet said it expired in 2021 and WB infamously started enforcing expiration dates on their Movies Anywhere codes last year. But for now Arrow's code still works somehow.

Amazon often does regional coupons. If a particular warehouse has too much overstock and not enough space, that area will see a big discount.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Bunch of Black Friday drops in my cart. My bank account probably wishes I wasn’t such a nighthawk.

All Blu:
SCOOBY DOO - COMPLETE SERIES $24.99
HERCULOIDS - COMPLETE SERIES $14.99
THUNDARR - COMPLETE SERIES $14.49
SPACE GHOST & DINO BOY - COMPLETE SERIES - $12.99
ROVER DANGERFIELD - $11.00
MST3K VOL. XI - $24.99 (DVD)
(that last one was the only one I was missing, but others are on sale, including some around $20, which seems like a new low. Vol. XXXV is only $13.49 for some reason, which is beyond reasonable).

Other stuff I’ve noticed:

BLADE RUNNER 4K - $12.99 (was $9.99 last year, though)
GODZILLA X KONG - $9.99 Blu / $12.99 4K
FALL GUY - $9.99 Blu
HORIZON - $9.99 Blu
CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN - Warner Archive 2-disc - $8.49 Blu
SUPERMAN ‘78 Extended + SE Warner Archive - $8.49 Blu
MR. ROBOT Complete Series - $29.99 Blu
GHOST IN THE SHELL (Animated) - $10.49 4K / Blu Steel (was $7.99 last year)
DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY - $29.99 4K
JOHN WICK 1-4 - $16.99 Blu
WB 100th ANNIVERSARY 25-FILM SETS - $49.99 (there are four of these; codes may be expired, though)
HANNA BARBERA SUPERSTARS 10 PACK - $43 Blu
WKRP COMPLETE SERIES - $19.49 DVD
RED DWARF COMPLETE SEREIS - $33.49 DVD

Playing it safe this year. No impulse buys. My tolerance for H’wood fare has taken a dive, seeking world cinema and meaningful ones at that. If not within an acceptable price range, there’s no buy. Not falling for slick packaging like steelbooks or other overdone swag. In other words, am getting OLD

I am buying less this year with the new $13 sale price on 4K releases.

1 dvd set I picked up that seemed like a good deal was The Absolutely Fabulous collection for $36.99, although now that I bought it they will probably release it on BR.

The link works.

I wish Kino would price outer Limits comparably:

The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series Blu-ray $54.99

Keep watching the millions of unwatched BDs I have backlogged here (and I know I’m not alone on this site in saying that).

Spent a while (too long, actually ) building a couple of orders at Target last night, constantly cross referencing the items in my ‘saved for later’ cart at Amazon, as well as checking the ‘you may also be interested in’ sections of those Amazon listings for overlooked stuff, then checking for those items back at Target. Quite the chore, but I did manage two decently-priced orders so far, all on big-ish art books.

in the spirit of the holidays, allow me to be the ‘retired cop coming back for one last gig’. If I end up purchasing less than 5 titles this season, will hang my collectors badge out to pasture
