I don't think this is the pickers fault, it's however they categorize stuff as used/warehouse and they obviously think of a slipcover as disposable packaging.

No, Casablanca isn't the quantum leap in picture quality you'll immediately notice. The largest difference from 4K UHD is the enhanced color rendition.

My first two recommendations if you're looking for classic films are either My Fair Lady or The Ten Commandments on UHD.

Could not disagree more! I just got Casablanca and the picture is Definately very noticeable in upgrade from blu ray! Contrast between the black and whites is awesome. The light and “ glow” if you will around Ingrid Bergman is gorgious,And the detail for an older film like this excellent! Very highly recommended IMO-

I just bit on Casablanca 4k. Weird, the same items varies from $9.99 - $119.99 on Amazon! That gives me 3 copies (do I really need them all): The anniversary dvd big box. the blu & the 4k.

I just watched the Casablanca 4k & also compared it on the same player with the Casablanca/African Queen 2 br set.

Here's what I saw:

1. The 4k had a lot less grain. I don't know if that's due to the 4k, or due to a superior transfer.
I saw Casablaca in a theater (TCM thing) a number of years back; I also noticed the grain in the theater which lead me to believe it was being played from a dvd. At that time, someone commented that the grain was more accurate! In tonight's comparison, I don't think so; though the 4k did not have more detail; just a clearer picture. I also am uncertain if I used a 4k rated HDMI cable; & how much difference that would make if I didn't. It was definitely in 4k packaging & said 4k on the disc. The player (LG) stated it was a blu-ray..Again, no idea if that means anything, or if LG players call 4k discs "blu-ray".

2. The Blacks at times were too black & some detail was lost in dark scenes.
