Could we have a separate thread for 4k? I can't play them.

Going forward, it seems Paramount and Warner Brothers are leaving out the blu-ray disc for their newer and upcoming 4k titles.

Who knew Paramount and WB could suck even more than what they already do.

I don’t buy 4K so this isn’t an issue for me, but do they have plans to start including any or all special features for a given film on the 4K discs? Seems like a big gouge with that format has always been including the special features (excluding commentaries) on the Blu-ray only, even when they’d probably fit on a 4K without compromising the image quality in any noticeable way, and essentially forcing people to buy combo packs to get a complete package. Does this mean some folks will now have to buy two separate editions to get everything?

WB plans on shifting bonus content to the 4K disc in case they drop the included BD.

Not sure if it’s a targeted promo. I had ‘Ringu 4K’ in my cart and it showed an additional 20% off clip coupon on select titles. Open the product page and click on the qualifying titles

It's been like that for about a week. $23.99, right?

right. Also only works on one item in the promotion. Add two from the qualifying list to cart, 20% comes off the cheapest item only

It looks like a bunch of Shout titles are on sale at Amazon.

Re: Amazon: Blu-ray discounts and deals mega-thread

Shout’s SHAW BROTHERS CLASSICS VOL. 1 and VOL. 2 are just about half off, at $85.99 and $90.99 respectively. They matching somebody? They’re not that low at Target or Best Buy. I’ll probably bite at that price. Noticed a few other things in my ‘saved for later’ section that dropped.

Also spotted some random 4Ks at low prices, for those who are into those: EVIL DEAD RISE, SHAWSHANK, ELVIS, CHRISTMAS VACATION, BLACK ADAM, DUNE, ELF, CHRISTMAS STORY, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, SHAZAM 2, JAWS 2, PUSS IN BOOTS, CASABLANCA, MULAN, TOY STORY 4 (and other Disney stuff), all $9.99, FLASH $14.99. I’m sure there are plenty more, but other folks here are better at finding sale pages or extracting lists.

Also noticed some recent Blu-rays in the $7.99-$9.99 range: MEGAN, RENFIELD, VIOLENT NIGHT, COCAINE BEAR, NOPE, GODZILLA VS KONG, RESERVOIR DOGS, FLASH, KNOCK AT THE CABIN, SHAZAM 2, FAST X, MARIO, JOHN WICK 4, etc.

Not a movie but Quentin Tarantino's new book is the lowest I have seen it since it came out:

Amazon Amazon

$16.73

Also what price point should I wait for for the Walking Dead complete collection? $80...$50?

There might be some oddball examples here and there, but otherwise, yeah, they're including extras on the UHD discs. (I just finished watching Meg 2 in UHD, which is a single-disc release with extras, and that reminded me of this post.)

The messy thing with UHD in that respect is that the format limits what types of video are permissible, so you can't include old 480i extras, at least not in 480i; AFAIK, they have to be deinterlaced and upscaled to at least 1080p. I think the same would hold true for 1080i extras as well, but I'm definitely not an expert.

This is correct. The UHD BD format video specification only supports 1080 and 2160 resolutions, and no interlaced frame rates. Only 24p, 25p, 50p, and 60p.

Great deal, I just wish I liked the newer movies in the set more. It's a weird combo of films.

I just bought the Last Picture Show 4k Criterion this weekend for about half of this set. Oh well. It also has Texasville and some good extras.

If you were/are a fan of the CW series Supernatural. The complete BD box set with exclusive extras is now down to $119. That runs to about $8/season. 15 seasons. 60% off. This show is a huge time commitment, so YMMV is this is worth it to you.

and there is a digital copy as well.

Fine set if you're a fan of the show but I believe the digital copy is now expired. In a cost-cutting move WB expired every digital code of theirs older than 2 years.

Amazon has a get 3 for the price of 2 going on right now that includes the 4k of Barbie at 24 and some change. There are 40-50 other 4k titles at least. I was able to scramble 3 together to get it on it. There are a bunch of other things as well, but I didn't browse them.

Complete 1960's series Twilight Zone blu ray $34.99.

Amazon Amazon

I know Hamilton Books had 3 of the 5 seasons for $5.99 each but did not get all seasons at that price.
Currently Hamilton has Seasons 2 and 3 for $5.99 each.

That is pretty tempting. I only have the first season on DVD. Not really sure how often I’d watch it though.

IMHO you’re really not missing out. Human eye can only make out so much and my old eyes definitely are getting worse for wear 🤣
