Pop in disc 2 first, then go back to 1. It skips the promos.

Double check the Stranger Things release thread to confirm.

Always worked for me -- I forget how far it loads, but I think to the menu is as far as you need.
Same thing should happen after the first load of Disc 1 unless you clear the memory -- put the disc in, go away for 5 minutes and and come back.
Small hassle,but for $5 it's easily fixed

Worked perfectly! Thanks! While a bit of a hassle it's far better than a 5 minute wait and means I'll now watch the series. I don't always binge a show so that was a deal breaker as it was.

I remember some people here warning us without Netflix about spoilers in the promo and that little trick. Glad to pay it forward.

I had not been to a local Target for some time and I noticed that the Blu-ray/DVD section and books section have been consolidated into the prior Blu-ray/DVD section. Definitely a 'blink and you will miss it' section of the store now.

There's two different versions. One is from Netwerk (region 2). Big difference in price.

Fwiw, the Stranger Things exclusive packaging BD/DVD season sets are both on sale for $10 still, with a 50% cartwheel discount taking them down to $5 each.

Any discounts on the 4K sets?

In the store, I’m pretty sure, but forget the price.

In cartwheel, it’s included in the 50% extra off, good until 8/3/19.

Re: Target deals

There's a B2G1 movie coupon in the Target app for Red Card holders. Go to Wallet > View Coupons and it comes up with a barcode that needs to be scanned.
I used it on the three Captain America 4K movies which were on sale for $25 each, so it ended up being $47.50 for all three after the B2G1 and red card 5% discount.

Damn, good man! Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to pick up some of the Marvel ones as well.

I forgot to mention, it is a one time use. Once you use it, it no longer appears in your wallet.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked up the 4K versions of Iron Man 1-3 today. Those are the only Marvel movies that I don't have digital copies for, so once I sell the blu ray copies I should be set.

Re: Target deals

Sweet, my wife also got a coupon, so I picked up the 4K versions of Toy Story 1-3 today since I didn't have digital copies of those either. They were also 15% off this week.

Re: Target deals

Today, my local Target (Anderson Township, OH) had Stranger Things: Season 1 (UHD/4K) on Clearance for $8 and some change. They had multiple copies. Maybe this Clearance price is available at every store but it doesn't show up online at that price. The Blu-ray version was not on Clearance.

Re: Target deals

Our Target stores have reduced movie section to one lousy aisle. I am not looking forward to the day when all you can get is digital.

Re: Target deals

Target Ticket was already shuttered too, so it's not like Target will be getting any of that digital money now. I do most of my regular shopping there and always check the movie section and make lots of impulse buys, they can kiss that goodbye if they cut it back. Some but not all of the stores here have remodeled and made it a bit smaller- what the heck were they thinking with that silly shelf in front of the main one that slides back and forth???

I don't think Target will be in the media business by 2021.

Re: Target deals

The media section at my Target is a few aisles still. Walmart is the one that’s really shrunk down. I think it’s basically only one aisle now with a stand alone rack in the middle walkway area. There used to be quite a bit more though. It’s sad because I do feel like physical media in stores is going to be gone or very limited soon.

Which is kinda weird when you think about it. Of all the media that technology has advanced, you would think books would have been the first to disappear. Apparently they'll be here long after CDs and DVDs are gone.

Books almost certainly would have if the publishers hadn't sued Amazon and Apple to win the right to set retail prices. You now see Kindle titles conspicuously display "Price set by publisher".

Ebooks used to be sold at significant discounts to the paper book price. That built the market for ebooks. Now ebooks are often sold at the paper MSRP, to preserve the market for paper books. After the usual discounting the everyday price for paper books is less than the ebook. A lot of people just won't buy ebooks at these prices. The publishers screwed themselves.

The weird part to me is that both Walmart and Target are trying to be trendy and are carrying vinyl records now. Records take up more real estate than DVD’s/Blu-ray’s/CD’s. Just seems kind of ass backwards to me.

Not if they’re selling. Plus they usually have a much, much shallower selection of vinyl compared to the aisles of CDs they used to stock.

That's not quite how I remember the story. When Amazon started selling their first Kindle, they were selling books at or below cost at a fixed $9.99 price for new releases and best sellers. Older books were around $6.

Apple wanted into the ebook market on their iPad, but didn't want to take a loss in the books, so they set up a meeting with all the publishers and they agreed to a new price point of $15 to $18 and Apple would collect their usual 30% cut, same as their apps.

Publishers then went to Amazon and said they had to sell at the new higher fixed price or they wouldn't get the books. Since all of the publishers colluded together, Amazon had to relent.

Lawsuits were filed and Apple and the book publishers were found guilty of collusion and paid huge penalties, but still were allowed to come up with new pricing on their own after a couple year waiting period, so prices went back up anyway.

At $9.99, the book publishers still made as much money as the paper copy sold at $18, without having to deal with printing and returns. At $9.99, people bought and read a lot more books. At the ebook peak, titles like Hunger Games and 50 Shades outsold their paper counterparts. The trend line was definitely headed towards digital dominance before prices were jacked up.
