Right thread?

Anyone think the "World at War" blu-ray anniversary set is a good deal for $40.90 from Amazon UK?

Need the set for my dads gift and worth I won't find a cheaper deal

Not familiar with the title, but a quick look at camelcamelcamel shows an all-time Amazon low of $39.49 last Jan., around $50 in Dec. '12, but otherwise consistently in the $70 range the past three years.

Can't see it going for much lower than $40-ish. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Dude, you gotta check this series out! Sir Lawrence Olivier narrates it. It's just the best thing ever if your into WWII or Hitler.

Omen Collection (4 Movies) is only $18.98, which is about a $1 shy of it's lowest price, ever.

Problem? The packaging.

Do some research on this. The entire set was cropped to a 16:9 ratio, and looks like shit (heads chopped off, parts of vital information chopped to all hell), from reading reviews. You're better off getting your dad the DVD version which is unFUBAR'd. It's too bad the 4:3 AR wasn't included so viewers could decide which version to see, but of course, that was not considered.

I passed on it a few years ago.

This was $16.99 at Best Buy, and about the same for the recent 50% off at FoxConnect. Passed on both due to aforementioned packaging. Ugh.

I think the newer release "40th ann." may be different, not sure but that is what I ordered for $44 dispatched.

I haven't heard that.

I did just read a review of someone saying "a bit a cropping but you get used to it fast".

So take that for what it's worth

I read numerous 5/5 star reviews for the 40th BR set so they are either ignorant or the copping is a minor issue.

It's a fine end to the series, which lasted three seasons on HBO.

Yeah, but Rakuten has also encountered multiple hacks over the past year which have compromised credit card info. I would rather not even bother with that and pay the extra couple bucks to get it from Amazon.

I concur

I pay a 10% premium for Amazon's safety and customer service

My Man if Steel set was one day late, I sent an email and asked why, they tacked a free month onto my Prime!

Do not question the almighty Amagod!

Or, don't give Rakuten your CC info. I paid with PayPal.

A few hours in the phone got my money back but the moral of the story fir the little kiddies is this. Great deal from some sites are good, great deals from Amazon and a handful of other sites are spectacular.

Sorry, no idea to both questions. I am hopeful that it will appear on a holiday sale list somewhere.

About all I can say is that it will likely be cheaper in a year or two, which isn't much help if one wants it now (I'm keeping an eye on the price for a friend who wants it).

For a brief time, Amazon had Ben Hur: Ultimate Collector's Edition for $29.99 (up to $39.10 right now), then went to 3rd party offering, and I would have bought it from them, but since they raised their minimum spending limit to $35...I chose Best Buy for $24.99 and free shipping.

If you are a Costco member, you might have preferred their $19.99 price on Ben Hur.
