I saw that the Jurrassic Park Trilogy is $28.38. Seems like a pretty good price for it and I may end up getting it.

Almost tempted to check out Banshee: The Complete First Season as I really love Six Feet Under, but Alan Ball sort of disappointed me with True Blood.

It's completely batshit crazy of a show so its nothing but awesome. Violence and nudity everywhere pretty much.

And the only small town in America with an Amish conclave, a mob, and a Neo Nazi Biker club all in that same small town.

CRAZY!

I watched and loved Strike Back on recommendations from this board, but I liked Banshee even more. Completely insane, I agree.

Plus at this price, even if you don't like it I think it'd have pretty decent resale value since it's an HBO release (though the show airs on Cinemax).

I enjoyed Banshee more, but I don't know if I would necessarily say it was a "better" show. They're different, certainly--Strike Back is espionage-action, Banshee is noir-drama. Banshee works in a longer arc. The first season of Banshee was fresher and more exciting this spring than the second season of Strike Back (which I only saw three episodes of before the Cinemax preview expired) but it was a new show as opposed to a second season. Both have plenty of action, Banshee more sex.

I love both shows, but I think if you like Strike Back, you'll want to take a look at Banshee.

Well, I came here to post that Amazon had the preorder up for Despicable Me 2 (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + UltraViolet) for $19.99, but it looks like they already caught the mistake and raised it back up to $34.99.

Schindler's List is down to a new low at $17.49

I actually saw it online when it was $19.99 and I wanted to preorder it, but as usual I was in a hurry to get to work and didn't have time to dig around for $5.01 of filler I wanted to hit $25. I figured it was a price mistake and that Amazon would jack the price up by the time I got time to look for a filler. Sure enough. I really would love to have a list of filler items ready to buy just in case of this, but unfortunately last time I made such a small list Amazon jacked around with the prices (as much as doubling some of them) that when I needed them the items were too overpriced.

I also figured (in inimitable Manzana logic) that if I had managed to find something to order with it, Amazon would cancel my preorder as a price mistake (in fact I don't think they've ever honored a price mistake for me). On the positive side, I don't know of any 3D BD that hasn't dropped under $19.99 within 6 months of release, except for some reason Fright Night never goes on sale, so I'll just have to wait a while to get this for $19.99 or less.

For those who were able to preorder at $19.99, please post if Amazon cancels your preorder. I expect they won't cancel any this time because I didn't get in on the preorder.

This raises a question: If you preorder something like Despicable Me 2 for $19.99 and then throw in a $6 filler item available now, I assume if you cancel the filler item Amazon will then charge you full shipping? I also assume that Amazon will send the filler item sooner rather than wait months?

Many of us find Amazon Prime to be an excellent value and a good solution for avoiding the filler item problem entirely. It also reduces shipping time.

Yep, and now with their prime video streaming services, it's well worth worth the $79 yearly fee. And if you can find a couple people to share it with, it reduces the cost even more.

Correct, you will get charged normal shipping price

That seems hit or miss, I'm sure I've preordered an item before with a filler and it all shipped together, but I recently preordered Star Trek Into Darkness with a filler, and the filler shipped out already.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Joltman, thanks for the answers. Re. the other posts about buying Prime, I've been told that many times, but I don't buy enough each year to justify $79, and last time I looked (last year) the Prime video catalog was pretty weak (as is Netflix's in my opinion... tons of titles and little I want to see). I'd be better off just paying the shipping, but I'm too much of a cheapskate to do that. I'd rather miss a deal and wait for later than pay $79 for Prime to buy maybe $10 worth of stuff most months.

Of course today there is a $5.49 filler item I wouldn't mind getting, but the Despicable Me 2 preorder deal is dead. Getting $25 worth of stuff I want at any given time is difficult, so I just don't buy little stuff from Amazon that much. When I buy from them it's usually Disney 3D BD preorder with coupon or some larger electronics component on sale.

Maybe I was doing it wrong but I was underwhelmed with Amazon streaming: I couldn't pause it, fast forward, reverse, skip forward or skip back, turn on subtitles, or any of the things I normally do when watching a movie at home. I found it a miserable viewing experience. Maybe it has something to do with the player being used but if my experience is typical of streaming (I hope it isn't!) I'll stick to discs. It wouldn't be worth 79¢, much less $79.

For the love of God, someone offer Manzana one of their Amazon Prime shipping slots. If I had an open slot on my account, I would do it.

Really? I find it hard to believe that Manzana doesn't buy more than $79 worth of items in 1 year at Amazon. What about the Holiday season?

I'm not a crazy shopper like most here, but I can easily minimum spend $300-400 in 1 year. Totally worth it for the free shipping along with the streaming videos as well.
