Ugh nothing new on the IT blu-ray. Why even get it.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers from Shout is now $15.99. Looks like a few other Shout titles are in the sub $15 range.

I know right.

It's only been avaialble on a dvd with beautiful picture quality so yeah what's the point of this being on bluray.

Seems like most people here now think DVDs are useless. Automatically upgrading everything to BD is silly imo.

Does Shout ever go lower in prices?

As long as it looks ok on DVD and there is nothing new in special features, I just don't see the point of getting it on blu-ray unless it's a couple of bucks.

Their older marquee titles have dropped to $12.99 a bunch.

I agree. I only upgrade if there's a big difference in quality (video/restoration or audio bit/sampling rate if it's music) or if I really like it & it's dirt cheap.

The Shield on Blu-ray is coming Q1 next year (or thereabouts). I will be upgrading. Supposedly a 4K transfer. I can sell my DVD set to one of you guys. :)

Are they converting to widescreen ala The Wire?

I never owned the DVD of IT so I bought the Blu-ray of it this weekend. It was $9.99 at FYE. Same with Salem's Lot.

The complete series I purchased was shown entirely in 16:9. I read that the first copies of The Shield on DVD were shown in 4:3.

Even better. From what I've read, there is no major conversion necessary because the series was "filmed for widescreen safe," per Shawn Ryan. So, if anything, if there is cropping, it won't effect the overall picture because Ryan framed it with widescreen in the future. This will probably be the most anticipated release of 2017 as far as classic TV shows. Ryan also said he was so obsessed with the series, he was continually thinking of how it would look in 10-15 years, and said he's personally reviewing each episode to make sure it looks its best. Ryan is taking a lot of responsibility, and it's nice to see this in a world of TV releases, versus some unknown in a studio who has absolutely no idea how important preservation is, as well as delivering the best quality to the fanbase.

I'm still pissed at how FOX butchered the Buffy transfer. Horrible cropping, removing the night filter so many scenes that are supposed to be in a dark room are now suddenly all bright, filming gear all over the place, and random color changes.

Oh yeah, I'm staying away from Buffy like a vampire to garlic. I hope they put out a new release.

It's obvious Fox didn't bother getting anyone from Mutant Enemy to go over that Buffy transfer.
