It's too bad this takes the enjoyment away from the casual buyer who just wants to pick-up a few titles for their collection.

I see the same thing at thrift stores where a guy sits his ass right in front of the media section and checks the eBay price of every title on their phone. They pop-out the disc from every case and meticulously examine every one. A hour later they walk-out with one title. The "time is money" concept is completely lost on some people.
There was a time that was profitable before the Amazon bar code scanners were put up for sale. Now every 10 year old with no knowledge of the product hits up the pawn shops. There was a time I made very good money doing tha (+ overstock wholesalers), but not anymore. What irritates me is the AMAZON technology makes our knowledge worthless for anything with an sku/upc.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I can only guess the reseller game can be a real pain in ways of sells cause u try sell anything then u gotta pay for a site to promote it for u and so even selling old movies for profit then u gotta sell it for twice it real value. around here depends where u go it is like 10 bucks for a collection down to a buck for single movie any. and that all depends where u buy it from really. i can only guess with so many resellers now that it hard to sell much now sometimes if almost everyone selling the same anytime. i know this section is about movies and stuff, but this guy going around snagging any and all duplicates to resell i see he in way wasting alot cause consider gas and cost to sell any just takes way profit but then buyer basically pays for all that when he charge a shitload for a single movie i guessing. i shocked he just parks all that on chair as if he in area no one gonna break window and grab any by chance. he should have just kept in bags and got home and then brag what he got as if he any better buying all blu rays to resell so he can go and buy more anytime. i dont hate resellers , i just not like how they brag as he does in ways compared to others who actually show what it takes to do it right for anyone who wanna try sell stuff anytime. i happy i score what i can any trip and remember to snag real wants so not regret not doing and miss out by chance.

To me it just shows the greed by taking all good stuff to sell instead of just taking 1 of ea at anytime. so this guy does not care and even comments i seen he not care. cause anytime the video watched by chance he get paid something .

This is probably true of the internet in general that much of the hard-earned knowledge and research people have put into their occupation or hobbies has been undermined by the flood of extensive free and easily accessible information available online.

It's discouraging when you have invested a lot of time and energy into a hobby and then see those that have no real knowledge, insight or passion just exploiting it for a quick buck armed with a cellphone and an app.

In practice, this is largely true for information in niches which doesn't have a really high bar to jump for understanding. For example, such as trivia/canon from tv shows, movies, etc ...

For niches which have a really high bar for understanding, having easy google access doesn't really help much other than saving a trip to a college/university library. For example, having easy access to webpages and/or pdf files about quantum mechanics, doesn't really help much in understanding it if one doesn't know anything about quantum mechanics (or advanced mathematics)

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

In a more general sense, the internet + google has made the local "smartest person" somewhat obsolete.

I remember back in the day before the internet became popular, the easiest way to find non-trivial information about something, was to talk to the "smartest person" in one's own social circle or look it up in the encyclopedia.

Even before the iPhone and social media became popular, such damage was already there but highly localized.

If one has ever encountered a local CB radio scene back in the day, the same crap happened as social media but extremely localized.

Within social circles, it was in the form of someone who was the gossip monger in chief.

You know there are many people that think and behave in this manner but it brings it to a disturbing light when they film and upload themselves to proudly display their lack of grace and intelligence for all to witness.
I have a different perspective on this.

Back in the day, this type of information would have been extremely isolated to local social circles and rumor mills. The only times it went beyond local/regional, was when it showed up on the Jerry Springer Show or other talk shows.

(Without getting heavily into politics).

The greatest thing about the current era with social media, is how people are willing to "speak their minds" to the world, which might not be completely "eraseable".

Definitive clarity is much better "information" about a person, than having to peel away layers of social etiquette in deciphering what somebody REALLY thinks.

Thats why I can never find anything at dollar tree.

His eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/sch/re4-merchan...p2046732.m1684

Guess he doesn't get that the vast majority of these were unsellable at the $5-$10 range, that's why they are being liquidated at the dollar tree.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I figured yesterday was my one chance to get first crack at these Dollar Tree bargains. I normally work on Fridays, but I'm presently out of work. I've learned over the years my local DT (still, 20 minute drive) consistently puts out their movies on the date on the boxes. I got there in time to see them unlock the door, and... they were in a different place, completely picked over! The woman there told me they put them out Thursday night (possibly an effort to beat the resellers?!). So, sloppy seconds, as per usual.

This would likely be the case if this individual is completely ignorant of the notion of supply and demand.

On the other hand if this person isn't an ignoramus, they might be playing a "long tail" game. Basically betting on particular dumpbin bluray (or dvd) titles going out-of-print after a few years, such that the prices skyrocket on the secondary markets (ie. ebay, amazon third party, etc ...).

I'm still at a place where the Covid risk is to high here and at my age (62) for the titles I've seen listed.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Yea, saw the page and can tell which are dt copies by chance and he charge way to much even if u consider cost to post and send any. i been to dt enough and last time they just moved what they had left to fint as if new stuff and just got couple thought was worth while any but really no new box any so they just filled front bin with misc movie stuff lol. it just sux and wish all store got some amount of box like if 1 get 4 or 5 box then all stores should get same cause not know what workers grab any by chance ahead of stocking. it just a pain to see resellers snag all brays any even if i have had chance grab any before that i have got dvds of any i really care grab any.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Scored at a Dollar Tree today. Whoever stocked it did me no favors, dumping everything out and then throwing hundreds of cheap earbud packages on top.

Intruders - Decent BBC series from an X-Files writer.
Sharks 3D
Shark: The Ocean's Greatest Predator
District 13 Ultimatum
All Summers End (BD-R unfortunately)
American Pie Presents the Book of Love
2017 World Series Champions documentary. Yes, this is the Astros.
Apartment 143

I haven't seen this anywhere here, but at least 1 copy per store of the 2016 version (Chicago Cubs)

This has been a pretty big wave, I believe I picked up just over 40 titles.

Found an Xbox One game at one of my local stores, along with about 15 films that have mostly been mentioned.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I can only guess all stores if any get a mix box and by chance get games. reading some or many call stores so they can get first dibs anytime. so if any games they by chance get snagged first along with anything else they want for own use or resell anytime. i not seen any games , just blurays or dvd realy any besides any good pack or by chance gift sets any or show . i try snag any og interest by way of cast and extra wanna check out. compared to reg price when they first come out, i try try snag all possible and some i regret not grabbing thinking they be there next but as videos get out of what can get maybe then thoe u want later get sold lol. so for games and any 4k by chance it like needle in haystack and gotta be first if can to check stuff cause not be shocked if workers score good stuff ahead since not much as alot copies. i just be happy i score any i really care to see or check out.

Honestly speaking, I don't remember. Games weren't on my radar and these days I even skip over most of the DVD cases. I'm looking for BDs most of the time when I hunt Dollar Tree.
