Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection up for preorder for $74.99.

Has anyone ever gotten something in their quick picks that they had a product availability alert on? I know you can't get them for items in your wish list, but are product availability alerts the same?

Pre-ordering lost a lot of steam a year or so ago. Studios are concerned about the second-week dropoff so they offer aggressive discount plans. When I was picking up The A Team and stuff like that for 12.99 in the second week of release, I knew pre-ordering was a thing of the past. Though now studios like Disney are trying to preempt that by offering the early pre-order coupons.

The amount of pre-ordering I do at amazon has declined. Too many good deals emerge after release dates nowadays. I used to do it for almost every upcoming release I bought; not any more.

Me too. Amazon has burned my butt a few times that I'm very cautious at what I pre-order. I with they'd go back to the 30 day guarantee. They may have made some added bucks in the past sticking it to pre-orders but I got to believe they're losing sales in the process.

I'm assuming Lucas has some sort of control over this release, and therefore control over pricing...chances are it won't dip any more in price than the Star Wars Blu-ray set has in the past year. Has the Crystal Skull standalone Blu-ray dipped below $10 during it's release...if it has, I never noticed.

Don't feel too bad. Indiana Jones 4 was one of the very first BDs I ever bought and it says I paid "=$21.99-15" at BB in my spreadsheet. I assume that $15 was a $15 RZ certificate, so it was $21.99! Ouch! I can't believe I paid so much for it either, but it seems every time a new format comes out (LD, DVD, BD) I make a handful of stupid, expensive purchases at the start until I start to become familiar with the prices of the format. I did pay $22.99 for Puss in Boots recently but that was a 3D BD combo pack. Other than occasional new release purchases like that, I'm very reluctant to pay even $10 for a BD these days. I won't even consider buying the Indiana Jones BD set until it's $40 or less.

I got it for under $10 on Black Friday 2010 at Newegg.com. They had other Paramount titles on sale that rarely go below $10. I think it's Paramount's strategy and not Lucas.

I fired off an email to Amazon yesterday, and they did refund the $4. So, at least for now, I'm placated.

Same here. And it sucks that Lucas is making us buy it AGAIN. Can't we just get the original trilogy without Crystal Skull?

Heheheh - you used the words "Original Trilogy" and "Lucas" in the same comment, and expected something good for the consumer - that's funny

If you are a fan of Kevin Smith's films, then definitely yes. It is better than Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back IMO. But not as good as Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy.

My dissenting opinion:

Clerks 2 was so bad, it was the movie that put me off watching anything Kevin Smith will ever do again. Awful.
