Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I was next door to BL earlier today, so thought I would see if there was anything to use the latest 20% off coupon on. I've never seen a BL so mobbed except on the old Black Fridays where they had truly killer sales (anyone else remember the $1-$3 major dvd box sets on BF?).

At any rate, with the mediocre selection of everything these days, it wasn't worth the crowds for 20% off.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

A pair of "new-to-me" titles this week:

5 Flights Up (BD)
The Ruins (BD)

Both were $3. Wish I had found them the previous weekend when I could have had them for free.

The Ruins is a non-terrible horror flick. Worth $3.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Saw a few copies of Scream Factory’s ‘Dead Souls’ ($1.88) and ‘Kill Katie Malone’ ($2.88) in a separate display. Seems like a BF display, picked up Shout Factory’s S1 DVD of ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ for $2.88

I think The Ruins is seriously underrated. Kicking myself for spending $5 on the blu earlier this year when it turns out I could've gotten it for free.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My issue with The Ruins is they didn't even explore the "ruins." I thought it was implied in the title.

They don't in the novel either, so the film was following the source material

Pyramid & As Above So Below will scratch that itch for you. Recommend a few movie beers to go along with those though.

I have both of those & they were both good. In a similar vein, I also really dug Catacombs (2007), which has people trapped in the endless catacombs below Paris (pre-As Above So Below).

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Hit the closest BL today. A ton of stuff I (blu & dvd) hadn't seen there before. Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with most recent films & I don't like action so little comes to mind to mention. The best item I saw (IMO) is Prince Purple Rain on blu for $5. I already have that, so didn't buy it. Your mileage may significantly vary, they just put out a new display of $3+5's; lots of blu & dvd. Plus there's still a significant number of the $15-20 multi season DVD boxes.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Yea, guess they get stock from stores who are slowly getting rid of media and toss into bins or clearance bins any. it nice to see shows on the cheap that i really want or interest any. have not been since last but hope any gold since stream coming and not many buy media as before.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

The nice thing about Big Lots is that the media doesn't get picked over anywhere as quickly as it does with Dollar Tree's Blu-rays. Seems like the resellers don't touch Big Lots for the most part, largely because their pricing prevents turning as much of a profit.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I can only guess some or many resellers are selective as to what get anytime and i seen some scan code if can at time to see what it sell on ebay anytime. have scored some decent to good stuff at biglots and by chance any shows i like and think worth a get with any extras really. have not got any new since last trip so can only hope can maybe get more later if allowed to do so cause med reason cant do right now.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Stopped by a store this morning and noticed there had been a restock of TV shows on DVD/BD. Many that have appeared before, but a few which were new (to me at least).

BD
Battlestar Galactica: Season 1
NCIS: Season 12

DVD
Blacklist: Season 6
Bosom Buddies: Season 1
Dexter: Season 1
Dexter: Season 6
Extant: Season 1
Grimm: Season 1
Hogan Heroes: Season 1
Mercy Street: Season 2
Mork & Mindy: Season 1
My Three Sons: Season 1, Volume 1
Suits: Season 3

Also the random seasons of Bonanza, Rawhide, etc.

Here's the bad news, however, all of these were priced at $8. This was really disappointing to see. I would often use the $5 off $15 coupons to pick up something for "free".

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Yea, i wont buy any shows i never really saw before or like cast any for any reason. i may get certain shows if related to other shows i have cause just different location. but other shows idk sometimes. but cant bug cause it now cheaper to get compared to before and not gotta pay extra ship any lol. so just gotta check store close by see what new and snag any i can do at time cause have so much and not real watch media on dvd player a lot right now if can see any on pc really. so any collection if future cable box so to speak lol. if they are higher price tehn usual then guess they discover traffic is buying cheap and reselling for higher prices anytime and so try cahs in ahead of resellers or scalpers any. cause seen any 5 to 10 bucks for whole season or more and nice when they got extras i wanna check like the movies anytime. sux though when they got scattered seasons instead of so many in row kinda like i have been able to score any. only time seen scatterd seasons is dollar tree or 99 cent store media for shows anytime. so i happy i been able get any before resellers or scalpers snag all by chance any. and they sealed so it a plus.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Big Lots is currently running a clearance sale. They are supposed to take at least an additional 50% off the marked clearance price. I bought a DVD set of Master of None on Sunday. It was marked down to $2.50 but rang up $.62. I thought maybe everything was ringing up 75% off so went back today but everything was either 50% off clearance marked or a few things were the full clearance price stickered. My store had Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol steelbook & World War Z 3D for $1.25 each after discount. & if a 2-disc blu-ray case is worth $.37 to you, you can probably get all the copies you want of The Gunman or The Gift...

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Now it makes sense for me. Earlier today I had a couple $5 CDs ring up as $1.25 each. No markings whatsoever or signs. Big Lots is terrible about advertising in store any deals.

Not all BL's are doing that. I was in one today & there was clearance, but no movies in clearance. They did have a ton of new stuff, but little that interested me. I bought 1 blu-ray, it rang up at full marked price.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I looked at the movie section over the weekend - first time doing that in 6-8 weeks (if not longer). It was the dregs of the same stuff I'd seen the last time I went in and looked. That is, nothing of interest at all.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I think or sounds like postings on youtube that walmart does clearance and stuff sales out before u have chance get any or not all stores get rid of stuff the same time. so can just ask if they have media on sale any or feel u gotta get at check stand if go up with alot and not wana hassle asking them put back any later. have not been for awhile but do notice some stuff clearance and alot repeats anytime. so just ask and hope can get a straight answer by chance.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I went to BL today. They didn't have a clearance section, so I picked 3 $5 movies and took those to the cashier. 2 scanned at $1.25 (Four Weddings and a Funeral, World War Z 3D) and one scanned at $5 (Salt, put it back). So it seems very hit or miss, but totally worth trying.

First post here!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Yesterday a Big Lots that I stopped into up in the stix had Buy 1 Get 1 50% signage for media, with a minimum purchase of a $5 item.

Did purchase BD’s of My Life as a Zucchini with slip & DC, and Daddy’s Home with slip but no DC for $3.75 apiece, but the pickings were slim.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

A store close to me had a few things I had never seen before. Picked up The Score (the DeNiro/Norton film) and a 2-disc documentary series called North America (narrated by Tom Selleck). Each one was $3.
