Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
Going to be a very interesting month if BB allows the coupon to stack with a price match. Right now Office Space, Pandorum, Napoleon Dynamite, and The Terminator are on sale at Target for $7.99 apiece.

Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
I just got back from Best Buy, and thole thing was a mess just as I expected. Customer Service had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to do a trade in, even though they had three large brand new displays with the majority of the selected trade-in titles with large signage describing the promotion and directing customers to customer service.
Then they got confused and thought the list of trade-in titles were the only titles I could bring used DVD copies in for. Then they seemed surprised I could get the "Taxi Driver" deluxe BD set, and assumed the trade in must be for a different version. I told them I wasn't sure, but I believed it was the *only* BD version there is, as it just came out fairly recently.
Anyway, they didn't have any of these coupons, so they just took my DVD's and did a $5 off override on each BD title. Ironically, this was probably a scenario where I could have attempted to trade in for any BD title, but oh well.
Also, quick big of warning: If you bring used titles in not knowing for sure if you're going to trade them in, and if you ascribe any value to keeping them if you don't trade them in, be careful when/if they "sticker" your used titles when you come in. They put a big price tag-type sticker on the cardboard cover of a snapcase DVD I had brought it, which isn't the easiest to remove. I ended up trading them in, so no big deal.
I managed to find five BD titles that were worth it. All $9.99 titles except "Taxi Driver", so five BD's for $33 after tax isn't too bad. I still wish they had "The Quick and the Dead", though.

I have a lot of crap that I can't even get rid of at Swap-A-DVD. But in looking over the list, LICENCE TO KILL and BAMBI are the only ones I want and $15 each plus 10% tax isn't such a deal for those. Oh well.

Anyone know if 12 Monkeys is 9.99 in store? I see that it is on the website. I have a DVD copy of Princess Bride that seems to be worth less than nothing that I've been looking to offload (it is useless to me, because even though I still only have DVD players in some rooms, the blu that I now own is a combo pack) and this is a trade I would certainly consider if I could get 12 Monkeys on blu for 5 bucks. I'm hesitant to ask them to PM the website on top of the trade in though.

Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
Went in today and it was overall a fairly easy process. However, they didn't have any actual physical coupons. I had to get the 5 blu's I wanted right away and they manually removed $5 from each one. I tried to stack the coupons and they were definitely not going for it.
Good thing though. I was able to take a couple of old taebo/work out dvd sets (ex-girlfriend's) that had individual slim cases inside with their own UPC. They took all of those with no problem.
My haul was:
Hoosiers - $4.99
Inside Man - $4.99
Justified Season.1 - $14.99
Office Space - $4.99
Taxi Driver - $9.99

Okay, I just got back from Best Buy and this program is utter crap.
I tried to trade in my The Kingdom DVD to upgrade to the BD version.
According to the Ad, with my Trade-in, I would only pay $4.99. The BD is on sale for $9.99....The ad even says that's how much I would pay. So after I traded in my DVD, they gave me a receipt to use as my $5 voucher.
Well, I went to the register and I was shot down. Apparently the registers are programmed to not take off an additional discount off a sale item and since The Kingdom is already on sale for $9.99, they told me I cannot get the $5 off from the trade-in. I asked them why and how come the ad clearly shows it and the lady told me they got an e-mail from coporate saying the entire section about the Trade-ins was wrong. It only works if the item is not on sale.
I demanded my original DVD back and left. What a waste of time.

Go to a different store. If there's one thing that's consistent about BB, it's that their employees often have no idea what's going on and frequently make up lies to cover their lack of knowledge, which is what your "corporate email" situation sounds like. Others are getting the discount from the sale price. If you go to another store you'll likely have a completely different experience.

However, I wasn't able to get the $5 off because the store I went to said the title cannot be "On Sale" And the strange thing is all the titles in this promotion are on sale. I did notice in the fine print that the discount is only applied to the original price, so I don't know what the hell is going on with this stupid promotion.

Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
What kind of DVD do they accept? Does it have to be scanned, and in their system? Because I have some $1 DVDs that I would love to get rid of, but know for sure that bestbuy is not selling them.

Hmm.
Does anyone have the list WITH prices?
I know I have some of those snapcase films I'd love to get rid of. At least half a dozen that I've already upgraded.

So let's say you trade in 2 DVD's and get $10 credit and then you want to buy 2 $14.99 BD's (If your store will let you buy them since they are on sale) you will get $5 off each one.

Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
DJariya, your experience with them not wanting to take the $5 off coupons on sale priced items is exactly what I would expect to happen if I tried it at my store as well, but lots of other people have done it successfully on sale priced BDs. It's terrible that deals at BB are so YMMV between stores and that people have to drive around with gas prices so high. It might be best to call first to see if they'll do it or even have the titles one wants, but getting someone on the phone at BB is tough and it sounds like some stores are still unprepared regarding this promo so far.

Re: Trade and Save at Best Buy
It's on Best Buy's website. The prices range from $9.99 to $19.99 before the discount. And keep it mind, you cannot stack coupons.
So let's say you trade in 2 DVD's and get $10 credit and then you want to buy 2 $14.99 BD's (If your store will let you buy them since they are on sale) you will get $5 off each one.
