September 30 [Criterion Challenge Crossover theme night] (2 hours, 51 minutes watched)
01. Scooby Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon (2004, 84 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Weaker Scooby Door film with the classic cartoon characters serving in the sidelines as comedic relief to the really awkward wrestling stars who inexplicably focus only on car racing (?). Maybe it I was a bigger wrestling fan this would have stuck with me more; the Sooby Doo / Kiss tie-in is much better. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing
02. Corridor of Blood (1958, 87 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Boris Karloff carries this slow burn loose retelling of factual events that's too slow in the middle. I enjoyed it more than I expected. Format: Streaming [Hulu]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset

October 1 [Zombie theme night] (8 hours, 33 minutes watched)
03. The House of Seven Corpses (1974, 88 minutes) ★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ Dated movie that's slow going for so much of it's time, there's a movie within the movie gag that gets old quick. Towards the last third things take a turn for the surreal but it's too little too late. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
04. Zombie Nightmare (1986, 89 minutes) ★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ I was hopeful for some 'so bad it's good' cheesiness but this was just a dud. Slow going with an under utilized lame zombie. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
05. Contracted (2013, 85 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Uniquely structured first person zombie film with some gross out effects with a threadbare plot tacked on toward the ending. Re-watching this wasn't as enjoyable as the first time I was it, watch this lady be sick for an hour. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. Theme
06. Contracted: Phase 2 (2015, 78 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Weaker than the first entry with an awkward plot so shoe horned in even the splatter effects, most too similar to the first, don't do much to redeem things. Cardinal sin of over explaining theyh turn what could have been a serviceable zombie movie into an odd wild goose chase. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme
07. [Rec] (2007, 78 minutes) ★★★★★★★★½✰ [Rec] is a minor masterpiece with atmospheric corridor hallways. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
08. Living Dead In Manchester Morgue[aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie] (1974, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ The spectral elusive zombies here are really a nice change of pace; I love the way there is an aura of mystery uncommon for most teeth gnashing zombie films - and the cold zombie stare is effective. The farmland environment lends itself nicely to this eeriness.Format: Blu-ray. Theme Subset

October 2 [Religious/Fanatic theme night] (8 hours, 6 minutes watched)
09. Satan's Blood [aka Don't Panic] (1978, 82 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Sleazy film filled with all sorts of forced dated low budget mind trickery that is eerie enough despite lacking strong plot. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Time Viewing Theme
10. Deliver Us From Evil (2014, 118 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ It's sensationalized so much that after a sometimes too general first half setting things up the DUfE kicks into high gear and benefits from it's over the top production for the second half making it among one of the best modern exorcism movies - Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
11. The Exorcist III [Theatrical cut] (1989, 110 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ lot of Eerie supernatural film with some great acting - The references to the original are ham fisted and more coincidental than logical. This film manages to channel my fear of old people without being too silly. Format: Blu-ray. Theme
12. [Rec] 2 (2009, 85 minutes) ★★★★★★★★½✰ I love the [Rec] sequel, it's more action packed with in your face 'zombies' and some nice twists building well on the foundation from part 1 for a direct continuation - I've seen it at least 3 times now and it holds up well. It's a shame the later sequels aren't as strong. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
13. Sacrifice (2016, 91 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Paranoid thriller that maintains tension across an scenic coastal villa, it's 'whodunit' gets a little procedural/political for my taste but what a grisly conspiracy film. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Time Viewing Theme

October 3 [Horror Estates theme night] (9 hours, 7 minutes watched)
14. Darling (2015, 78 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ If you can get past the pretentious "hallucinatory" editing 'tricks' and near constant audio cues then Darling (2015), on Netflix steaming, is a really good 'out of the blue' intense film - not always making sense in a subtle way leaving you to try to fit together some of the pieces as best possible but just far out enough to be eerie and very effective.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Time Viewing Theme
15. Horsehead (2014, 96 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Effective imagery and a surreal dream plot leave this feeling like an aimless arthouse Nightmare on Elm Street. I really enjoyed the seemingly random 'dream' components teasing out a story even if they often stretched 'suspension of disbelief' into the realm of fantasy and gets so abstract it leaves you with more questions than answers. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Time Viewing
16. House of Last Things (2013, 110 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Subtly creepy and humorous in equal measure this persistently strange character driven supernatural 'unhinged' house horror drama; this one is a Netflix random pick win. Never before have yellow balloons or golf balls been so menacing. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Time Viewing Theme
17. Dark Room (2013, 81 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ A low rent 'Saw' torture porn riff that doesn't add much new and seems to try for being mean spirited just to low budget shock attempt of things. It's attempt at religious fever seems half hearted and ultimately does too little with a stale premise. Format: Streaming [Netflix] 1st Time Viewing Theme
18. Home Sweet Home (2013, 82 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ An effective home invasion movie that while menacing, especially with the killer's effective mask, doesn't doesn't stray too far off format. With home invasion movies you could do better, or you could do worse. The ending doesn't seem as clever as they may have intended. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Time Viewing Theme
19. The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (1972, 100 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Featuring a vibrant lurid murderer with some nice gore and a eye catching title this films ends up feeling too 'procedural' for me and commits itself so much to an awkward lore. The gimmick works for the most part but it's killer could have used more presence. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Time Viewing Theme

October 4 [Extraterrestrial theme night] (7 hours, 8 minutes watched)
20. Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988, 88 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Possibly the greatest killer clowns from outer space movie that could have been made with some inventive gags & a tongue-in-cheek approach that makes it hard not to like. The music is some of the best I've heard so far this month and what a set design. It's too bad they don't make practical effects like this any more; those are some excellent clown designs. The execution is serious enough that it proves to be effective. Format: Streaming [Hulu]. Theme
21. The Encounter (2015, 85 minutes) ★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ A slow going bore that hits a lot of cliches but feels hollow without much going on for much of it's time. The trailer has some awesome looking sealed over mouth effects that drew me in but those don't really feature much in the film (there are just a few seconds of cool footage, just watch the trailer and you've got the best of it). Mystery is important but they fail to really establish a threat and the characters don't have the gravity to sell being in peril. Obviously fake blood is also distracting. It's a potentially very cool idea but just don't end up with much flesh. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Time Viewing Theme
22. Pod (2015, 78 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ An obvious indie film that does very well with limited characters/setting and is really creepy. There's some ambiguity that the film seems to stick with for perhaps too long but otherwise Pod is well worth seeing. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Time Viewing
23. Harbinger Down (2015, 82 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Like a 12 year old ripped off The Thing and Alien but dumbed it down - even Lance Henriksen couldn't save it. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Time Viewing
24. Slither (2006, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Well executed far out sci fi thriller with rich characters, good pacing, and wild effects (that look a little dated now). Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Time Viewing

October 5 [Dark Shadows Alumni / 50th Anniversary theme night] (5 hours, 3 minutes watched)
25. The Veil (2016, 93 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ With an odd plot structure where the cast sits around watching old video tapes that tell much of the story The Veil is hampered; Thomas Jane gives a good performance but things are a little too spot on for my preference and it ultimately feels like one over long gimmick. The Veil has excellent presence, staging, and character with some scares but it's story feels overly convenient and shallow. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
26. House of Dark Shadows (1970, 97 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ I wonder how much of the show’s low budget serial quirkiness is lost on the film with what I imagine is a bigger budget. It's anti-climatic how everyone runs around wondering what is going on for the first 20 minutes when it's painfully obvious. At times slow moving but with some stage/theatrical elements really work with an impassioned. Format: Streaming [Thanks to Alyxstar]. Theme Subset
27. Dark Shadows (2012, 113 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Cartoonish with gags that often seem more 'meh' cute than outright funny or kinetic this reboot is a better film than I expected but also a far cry from the soap opera it's rebooting. Some of the period setting gets too over embellished that it's distracting and vampire mythos seem loose without much menace. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme

October 6 [Public Domain theme night] (7 hours, 10 minutes watched)
28. The Eye (2002, 110 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Creepy and unsettling with some tense jump scares and nice spectral ghosts; later exposition seems rushed and they give in to over explaining the dodgy science involved to a fault but. I don't think The Eye gets credit enough it deserved, I originally saw it in theaters on release and it was even creepier then. Format: Streaming [Hulu].
29. The Vampire Bat (1933, 60 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Serviceable mystery movie with some obvious elements lending a sense of irony but withholding a few unexpected twists. Slow going and wordy with some ackward comedic relief and chock full of pseudo-science - I want to excuse some of it's short comings as a product of the 1930s but Most Dangerous Game (from 1932) is an effective movie so no excuses. Format: Streaming [Youtube]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
30. Fist of the Vampire (2007, 96 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Amateurish indie film that's fast paced and kinetic (filled with music, fighting, and horribly fake gore). If you can tolerate indie films (with for example very obvious CGI gunshots) then this is worth seeing with it's machismo acting - it's like a vampire MMA version of Point Break. Format: Streaming [YouTube]. 1st Viewing
31. The Most Dangerous Game (1932, 78 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Benefits from age because modern films of this ilk often give in to torture porn style squimishness but here things are straight forward with enough dramatic tension that it works very well. The antagonish is well acted with just enough quirkiness to be interesting and just over the top enough. Format: Streaming [Hulu]. Theme
32. Spider Baby (1967, 86 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Eccentric with the premise of adults mentally reverting to a childlike state lending itself to equal parts situational comedy and menace. Lon Chaney carries the film with an earnest charm that holds together what could otherwise me a simple limited plot. Format: Blu-ray. Theme

October 7 [Rest In Peace - G. Hansen, H.G. Lewis, and A. Scrimm theme night] (9 hours, 34 minutes watched)
33. Texas Chainsaw [Theatrical Cut] (2013, 95 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ As a standalone film I like the idea of a girl walking into a horrific feud but in terms of Texas Chainsaw mythos things seem stretched beyond any of the earlier films. It doesn't focus as much on the horror elements as previous Chainsaw movies instead morphing into an odd political thriller with Leatherface in supporting cast. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
34. Phantasm [Remastered] (1979, 89 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Epic soundtrack with a 'just right' balance of randomness and plot; you never really know what to expect.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme Subset
35. 2001 Maniacs (2005, 96 minutes) ★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ One of the dullest most obnoxious movies every; I'd seen and hated it before but it's the type of film I 'want' to like with it's HG Lewis basis, Robert Englund helming it, and a cool premise (that gets awfully botched turning into more of a lame sex comedy than a horror film).Format: Streaming [Hulu]. Theme
36. Bone Tomahawk (2015, 133 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Slow going and overly long but ultimately I liked it; things pay off in the end. Some elements seem Format: Streaming [Amazon Video - Prime]. Theme
37. Smash Cut (2009, 86 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ More enjoyable as a second viewing and better familiarity with HG Lewis films; a passionately low budget homage that isn't a great film on it's own but relative to it's source is very clever and amusing. Format: Blu-ray. Theme
38. Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988, 75 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ As quality a movie as one would ever has expected from the premise with softcore teasing, amateur seeming acting, and chainsaws. The film noir elements add a lot of substance and the film is self aware to play everything for laughs. Format: Blu-ray. Theme

October 8 [Travel theme night] (5 hours, 48 minutes watched)
39. Southbound (2015, 89 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Many stories feel too random, played for a quick gag without much coherence. 'Twists' don't deviate enough from the unbelievable whole so feel pedestrian because the movie is so relentlessly 'strange' without much development or reprieve. Mean unlikeable things happening to mean unlikeable people with some (very) random diabolic imagery. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
40. Motel Hell (1980, 102 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ It's bizzare just for the sake of being bizarre, too sparse and illogical. The last third is more kinetic and well paced but it takes so long getting there, moments of brilliance but what a chore it is getting to them.Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
41. Scooby Doo and the Samurai Sword (2009, 76 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Despite the cool asian theme this Scooby romp just tosses a bunch of stuff together without much sticking. Scooby can has fun ambiance but when it becomes about ninjas, however cool ninjas may be, the cartoonish eerie mystery deflates. Format: DVD. 1st Viewing Theme
42. Summer Camp (2015, 81 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Generic effects with an inventive backstory and nicely twisted ending. I wanted to like Summer Camp more than I did but it felt so routine that it was neither bad nor good. There aren't many scenes that are really memorable and the cast/plot is small scale. Format: Streaming [Vudu SD]. 1st Viewing Theme

October 9 [Unusual monster / robot theme night] (7 hours, 17 minutes watched)
43. Chopping Mall (1986, 77 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Chopping Mall is the perfect mix of comedy, cheesiness, dated effects, and action. The gratuitous gun slinging versus the dated robots is more fun than makes any sense - this film is nicely spirited and doesn't let up but probably over-rated as a 'cult classic.' Format: Blu-ray. Theme Subset
44. Clown (2014, 100 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Clown was better than I expected played straight enough to be effective despite the silly premise. Nicely paced with the rubber nose rainbow wig action starting within 10 minutes and not letting up. Usually I hate it when films explain things so much but here it adds a nice mythology. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
45. Slugs (1988, 92 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Slugs hit home with me - an awesome mix of implausible creatures, slime, and over the top gore. The sanitation plot is unique and while the film makes an earnest attempt at storytelling it's gratuitous the Slug effects steal the show. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
46. The Gorgon (1986, 83 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Fun creature but the lack of any attempts at disguising who the Gorgon is results in an odd sense of irony that feels over long after a while. Some of the changes to medusa mythology feel contrived, the medusa creature is a really interesting fiend and there are nice nods to Greek mythology but doesn't lend itself well to a mystery slow burner. Format: Blu-ray. Theme
47. A Horrible Way to Die (2010, 85 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Artful and subtle for a serial killer movie with nicely conflicted characters. A twist is both predictable and implausible. It's told with the camera leering over faces in such a way there's an unusual immediacy to the characters. Unique direction but despite the ambition parts felt slow. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme

October 10 [Axe theme night] (14 hours, 42 minutes watched)
48. Deathgasm (2015, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Familiar plot only this film 'cranks it up to 11.' The gore is top notch but some scenes come across as juvenile struggling to balance whole heartedly gore and romance/sex comedy still goes for the gusto with enough spirit and vigor that it usually works. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
49. Corruption (1983, 79 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Presented with some depth creating a sense that there's more meaning beneath the surface and with an amusingly unpleasant approach to erotica the film is more of a thoughtful meta exercise than anything you directly experience from within the movie which is immediately random, vague, and confusing. If it can be considered a horror movie that's only loosely so based on implications. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing
50. Axe (1977, 68 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Cleverly executed film that defies expectations twisting conventions around to good effect despite being slow at times it has unexpected and gruesome imagery. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
51. Sinister 2 (2015, 97 minutes) ★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ Short on scares with awkward plot devices that make little sense other than to set up characters as pointlessly mean spirited (but in a PG13 sort of way). The supernatural elements are so matter of fact and without setup they're not scary instead tying in to this odd attempt to justify developments. Takes some plot devices from the first and seems to just copy them without attention to suspension. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing
52. Cat in the Brain (1990, 93 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Never rises above being a 'cute' idea the violent gore clips assembled here, while nicely juicy, feel disjointed and the frequency in absence of connecting plot lacks impact. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
53. Madman (1981, 88 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ The villain is nicely grotesque with an atmospheric axe but ultimately under utilized and overall feeling a little much like a generic slasher. Format: Blu-ray 1st Viewing Theme
54. The Mutilator (1985, 86 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Interesting upbeat music lends creates an usual comedy feel for much of the first half before this small group of friends meet a killer who oddly creeps around a small beach house - the small scale of this movie is odd but it plays well with the scenic beach background. Flawed but ultimately worth seeing. Format: Blu-ray 1st Viewing Theme
55. Intruders (2015, 90 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ An unusual movie with unexpected twists using a small case effectively. Format: Streaming [Vudu] 1st Viewing
56. Return of the Killer Tomatoes (1988, 98 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Relentlessly zany and cartoonish that works despite seeming so stupid. There are hardly any actual tomatoes but the mad scientist really carried things and there's enough over exaggeration to yield more than a few laugh out loud moments. Format: Blu-ray 1st Viewing
57. Sleepaway Camp [Commentary with Felissa Rose & Jonathan Tiersten moderated Justin Beahm, Scream Factory 1st Commentary] (1983, 88 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ The commentary is mostly fast paced with few moments of silence with the two leads giving a good account of their experiences on set, they stray into lampooning elements of the film several times but overall worth a listen. Format: Blu-ray 1st Viewing of commentary Theme

October 11 [Abandoned Places theme night] (6 hours, 14 minutes watched)
58. Exeter (2015, 91 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ If you can forgive a sloppy first half about a bunch of teens doing drugs till they're stupid Exeter is ultimately a more satisfying film that I expected giving in to slasher conventions and presenting a series of strange 'twists,' it's a mediocre enough modern horror movie.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
59. Don't Blink (2014, 93 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ A mysterious story with a surreal aura of the unexplained despite little actually happening for much of it's time. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
60. Evil Toons (1992, 90 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Zany characters with cartoonish over exaggeration carry this movie with it's disappointing lack of toons; adult icon Madison doesn't hurt either as things turn into a soft sleazy mix of absent minded cartoonish actors, nudity teases, and occasional gore. The whole is better than the sum of it's parts making up a 'stupid' mindless entertainment. Format: Streaming [Youtube]. 1st Viewing Theme
61. Session 9 (2010, 100 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Atmospheric psychological film with effective environmental cues and an overall sense of eeriness teasing uneasiness out of an otherwise vacant setting. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset

October 12 [Period theme night] (7 hours, 42 minutes watched)
62. The Silenced (2015, 99 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ A moody mystery film that takes a turn for the paranormal with an unusual story and some effective imagery, inconsistently paced with some odd imagery and an at times cliche boarding house environment. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme
63. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016, 108 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Never gets beyond being a 'cute' idea; maybe if I better understood the source material I'd 'get it.' It's very glossy and polished but aside from some nice imagery of maidens in long dressed with knifes pulled out of their garters there's not much to the zombie havok and even the romance feels unconvincing (although I do appreciate the attempt at high drama).
Format: Streaming [Vudu].
1st Viewing Theme
64. Curse of the Werewolf (1961, 91 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Oliver Reed gives a good performance as a sympathetic self aware werewolf. The set design and atmosphere are good and there is an 'epic' feel to things given the multigenerational explanation of events but the story takes time getting there with 25+ minutes of overly specific backstory that feels like filler. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
65. Count Dracula's Great Love (1973, 85minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Standard vampire movie with odd romantic focus that shows some angst from the vampire but Nachy's brand of soap opera horror is an acquired taste and this is not one of his best. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
66. Deep Dark (2015, 79 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Scenic female vampires abound in this love story focused vampire yarn, the plot didn't really 'grab' me but it's got the 70s era Spanish atmosphere to spare. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing

October 13 [Nanny theme night] (8 hours, 13 minutes watched)
67. The New Daughter (2009, 108 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Slow going and focused on syrupy family drama to a fault for the first half things get more interesting with a novel premise in the final half. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
68. Bloody Birthday (1981, 85 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Mean spirited and direct it was from the get go dispensing with the pretense of 'whodunit,' surprisingly smart toying with some genre conventions. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
69. Cannibal Ferox [with deleted scenes inserted] (1981, 93 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Boredom punctured by moments of queasy torture in a film that seems to most directly copy the superior Cannibal Holocaust; the lush jungle-scape is a great backdrop but the characters are not strong enough to support tension outside of the gore and animal killing. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing
70. The Zero Boys (1985, 89 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Machismo action horror using the scenic 'stormy night' motif to full effect spewing scene after scene of horror skits that are greater than the sum of it's parts with a generic adversary that fails to maintain the gravity of each individually cool looking segment, ultimately it just limps off. As a slasher the pacing and atmosphere is better than average with a novel group that fights back. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing
71. Pulse (2001, 118 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ I dislike pulse, it's overly ambitious squandering it's early near essential mood and scare for an awkward social commentary and over the top fantasy sci fi bender. There is literally a computer screen with blinking dots that is used to dramatically explain the thematic elements. It's creative but the metaphor feels thin and preachy. Format:Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing

October 14 [Political / Conspiracy theme night] (6 hours, 26 minutes watched)
72. The Purge (2013, 85 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ A stylized action packed home invasion film with unexpected depth and nice twists that works despite it's contrived premise in part due to good pacing and an effective cast. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
73. The Purge: Anarchy (2014, 103 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Dives into the worst elements of the Purge mythos to tell a 'social commentary' that preaches about the most stereotypical aspects of political conversation (maybe pandering to conspiracy pop culture). Expanding the setting to a sprawling city scape with an extended chase segment giving a better sense of being unsure what to expect - except they don't end up doing much with the open world. There are some nicely dramatic moments but case is otherwise too thin to carry a more character driven plot. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
74. The Purge: Election Year (2016, 109 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Some cringeworthy scripting and far out imagery seems random in an otherwise more tightly plotted but largely predictable rehash of part 2 focusing on groups rather than individuals yielding a military/action feel that seems a little out of place and engineered to rush the series towards some finality. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
75. Videodrome (1983, 89 minutes) ★★★★★★★★½✰ A surreal impenetrable masterpiece with 'wtf' imagery and a noir mystery plot that is never to transparent. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme

October 15 [Embassy Home Video theme night] (4 hours, 36 minutes watched)
76. Empire of Ants (1977, 90 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Amusing special effects carry the first half of this sci fi ant feature with a predictable plot that's largely stupid fun and twists enough for the last half to keep me interested. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
77. Death Ship (1980, 91 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Largely slow with a awkwar ineffective George Kennedy and an implausible evil ship. Sound effects are used effectively and there's at least one especially standout scene but despite the ripe premise just doesn't go anywhere with it. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
78. Avenged (2013, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ A poor man's I Spit on Your Grave with less explicit sexuality and villains that offer no hint of humanity making it easy to root for the anti-hero; you have to sit through some hockey bad guys hamming it up to get there but the last half is action packed and atmospheric. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset

October 16 [Werewolf theme night] (6 hours, 45 minutes watched)
79. Howl (2015, 89 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Gnarly werewolves with sometimes bad CGI compel this ambitious film that struggles to balance sometimes oddly staged human dynamics with the supernatural werewolves. It has a distracting blue tint and constant blinking lights but for an indie film turns out quite and interesting scenic and unusual werewolf film. Format: Streaming [Hulu]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
80. Big Bad Wolf (2006, 96 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ This werewolf verbally taunts his victims in an unusual move that works given the character driven nature of Big Bad Wolf. The werewolf actor is effective but he faces off against the most wooden effeminate 'hero' ever. Balancing a cartoonish 'whodunit' that's largely projected which gives this a 'thriller' feel and a 'cabin in the woods' siege keeps things well paced. I enjoyed this much more than I thought but it's also hit or miss. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
81. When Animals Dream (2014, 84 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Painfully slow - there's a place for moodiness but the plot is shallow enough and too plan to benefit from such methodical pacing. Some of the social conflict surrounding bullying feels almost out of place in being so random. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme
82. She-Wolf of London (1946, 61 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Psychological thrilled that uses talky narration to cover plot rather than on screen events, there's not much over exaggeration and ultimately She-Wolf falls flat - maybe I was too much expecting some wild female werewolf caper but this was subdued to a fault. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
83. Werewolf of London (1935, 75 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Thick with pseudoscience that seems to add to mythos as feuding scientists clash in the glory of some nicely dated period special effects and conflicted werewolf acting. This is one of the better later era Universal monster movies I've seen yet. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme

October 17 [1966 / 1991 Anniversary theme night] (8 hours, 17 minutes watched)
84. Re-Kill (2012, 87 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Stylized zombie action film with static first person newsreel approach has enough novel in it that it stands out despite adding little to the zombie subgenre. Interview segments help seal the character drama. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing
85. People Under the Stairs (1991, 102 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Previously I've not liked People because it feels so far out and inconsistent but this time I enjoyed it much more. There is a lot of production value in the gaudy set design and the villain actors really steal the show that despite hammy social commentary and inconsistent pacing everything somehow works. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme Subset
86. Queen of Blood (1966, 81 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Pseudo-science precusor to Lifeforce and Alien films with a nicely scifi vibe and a rich 'hip' dated adversary that is unique enough to stand out and steeped enough in cold war era race to space culture encapsulating the time. Format: Streaming [Amazon Prime]. Theme
87. Van Helsing (2004, 145 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Pageantry carries Van Helsing past the questionable CGI and overly elaborate creature mythos. The run time could use a trim with many segments seemingly like interconnected anthology pieces, or overlong set-up, once the main segment gets going there is nice pacing and expecting a dud I found a serviceable mainstream action horror offering. Some of the attempts at 'drama' involve characters that feel so thin and remote it's hard to sympathize. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
88. V/H/S: Viral (2014, 82 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ After eventually understanding the V/H/S segments are not serious but a casual attempt to show oddball horror or dark humor I found re-watching this better. It's still filled with awkward 'thrillseeking' characters and played for cheap shocks (with little care for maintaining suspense) but a dumb mindless horror diversion with inconsistent results. October 18 [Stormy Night theme night] (8 hours, 5 minutes watched)
89. Poltergeist (2015, 101 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Slow going and awkward for the first half with the camera leering over mundane things implying some menace to absurd effect but I enjoyed the final part despite some dodgy CGI; it seemed like a self aware spirited film able to show more of the supernatural than I remember from the original. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
90. ABCs of Death (2012, 130 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Hit or miss but the short form films let directors be weird and experimental, resulting in very inconsistent results. Some of these films are nicely explicit or gorey and others eye rolling stupid. Overall I enjoyed the brisk pace of clips and range. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
91. The Old Dark House (1932, 71 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ A fun movie steeped in atmosphere. The storm intro and grand house are effectively 'gothic.' Old Dark House is a film that has benefited from it's age which only seems to add to the environment and has some zany but menacing characters. Format: Streaming [Youtube]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
92. Burn Witch Burn (1962, 90 minutes) ★★★★★★★★½✰ A classic that deserved more exposure, the mix of mysticism and rationalism is interesting with just the right amount of cartoonish magic antics to balance the mystery. Format: Blu-ray. Theme

94. Piranha 3DD (2012, 88 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ The piranha monsters are interesting creatures and some of the segments here present interesting gorey skits - altogether the script is not very clever filled with dumb elements and annoying 'college humor' but despite seeing the flaws I can't help put enjoy the upbeat energy piranha munching. October 20 [Vampire theme night] (8 hours, 6 minutes watched)
98. Fright Night (2011, 101 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Surprisingly effective remake with slick production values, it's surreal how many participants have gone on to become Dr Who, Chekov,or were already maybe a little too familiar. The vampire is perhaps too over confident and some of the 'kid'/youth facing the world elements over exaggerated but overall a fun stylized update. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
99. Dracula (1979, 110 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Atmospheric Dracula with nicely engineered visuals and good pacing. Dracula adaptations have become tiresome for me, but this one still felt fresh. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
100. Countess Dracula (1971, 93 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Subdued Bathory story with a Jeckyl and Hyde twists, the scenery is nice but parts seems predictable. Focuses more on romantic drama than horror. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing
101. Bloodsucking Bastards (2015, 86 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Self aware to a fault to obviously mimicing it's influences with vampires that are not particularly scary and slacker comedy that feels more recycled than funny. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme

102. Saw [Unrated] (2004, 103 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Clever idea that doesn't stand up as well on multiple viewings saved only by editing tricks and a plot with so many villains and concurrent stories that you ca. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
103. Saw II [Unrated] (2005, 95 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Depends too much on a twist and while many traps seem intense they also push the limits of what is plausible. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
104. The Sinful Dwarf [The Dwarf / International Cut] (1973, 95 minutes) ★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ The most agonizingly boring dwarf with only a few glimmers of sleaze, horror, or interest; it's like they took a ripe premise and spend 95 minutes trying to make viewers regret any interest in exploitation movies. Even the 'strong' 'international' version contains very little spiciness. Format: Blu-ray. Theme
105. Hush (2005, 95 minutes) ★✰ Tense and surreal with some subtle meta elements and enough ambiguity that leaves room for various interpretations while still delivering on the stalking. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. Theme Subset
106. The Girl in the Photographs (2015, 95 minutes) ★½✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ Just go hang yourself instead, it is a dud - instead of being a slasher or home invasion movie it's basically a character driven comedy with some of the most obnoxious smucks ever. If you want a film that just disregards convention and side tracks itself maybe as some sort of meta commentary then there are still much better films. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. Theme
107. Green Room (2015, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Stylized thriller with tense moments and unusual flair. There are a few holes but it's original and suspenseful Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme

108. Blood Punch (2015, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Novel horror 'comedy' version of Groundhog Day with characters who are likeable but self serving and trapped in a deliciously surreal scenario; inventive and well paced with an unusual plot structure in that there is no clear 'enemy' making way for the characters to define and redefine themselves are good, bad, or inbetween. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
109. The Objective (2009, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ I'm a sucker for military based horror movies and the trappings here work - over the top army GI Joes, scenic mountain setting, and cryptic operatives all drenched in steep mystery. Maintains a nice sense of eeriness for much of it's run time but fizzs out seeming like they ran out of budget for much fireworks in the proceedings. The tone is great and there are just enough ghastly visuals. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. Theme
110. Curse of the Demon (1957, 95 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ A classic that balances the unknown with character conflict between a skeptic and a hockey magician. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
111. Stitches (2012, 87 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Seems to work despite itself with a mindless script running on sight gags and slasher conventions that when projected on film somehow come together beautifully with inventive kills and a villain who's just campy enough. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. Theme

October 23 [Bug / Animal theme night] (5 hours, 58 minutes watched)
112. Stung (2015, 90 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ I really like the insects, they're campy and gruesome. The garden party setting is cool and there's a neat apocalyptic vibe. There were some slow spots with pacing further held back by lame 'humor' and ineffective CGI shots but the premise of being infected by bugs makes me want to more killer bug movies and the soundtrack was good. What works in Stung is despite some awkward acting/scripting. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme Subset
113. The Bees (1978, 91 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ A delightfully fun movie, newscaster style pseudoscience mixed with random bee swarming footage giving it a docudrama vibe. Expecting a b movie with some camp you could do worse - it seems like each character thinks they're in a different movie with a cartoonist scientist and a melodramatic scientist.Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
114. Suburban Gothic (2014, 90 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Obnoxiously eccentric and cartoonish seeming to be weird for weirdness sake but despite feeling staged in so many ways it's a fun time waster due in part to some stylish direction, Ray Wise, and a plan that balances modern angst with supernatural horror. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
115. Mischief Night (2013, 87 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Viewed this on a whim and what am amazing film. It's leading having hysterical blindness isn't the best plot device but the shortcomings end there with effective tension, interesting villain. The plot both caters to tropes and rarely feels predictable. One of the better home invasion movies I've seen. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme

October 24 [European theme night] (11 hours, 47 minutes watched)
116. New York Ripper (1982, 93 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ The ghastly voice of the killer and sleaziness is a gimmick that carries this procedural whodunit with cops chasing leads intermixed with strip shows and nicely gorey murder. If it wasn't for such an eccentric killer this might feel more mundane. Format: Blu-ray. Theme
117. She Killed in Ecstasy (1971, 80 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Psychedelic music and 70s fashion abound in this moody thriller that is stylish but little more than artistic murders. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
118. The Loved Ones [Unrated] (2009, 84 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Artfully directed with some subtlety to the plot but much of the proceedings are so over the top that despite competent actors it feels more cartoonish than intense. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
119. What Have You Done to Solange? (1972, 105 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Surprisingly straight procedural with some lurid focus on teenage sexual development, well paced and reality minded. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
120. The Hole (2009, 98 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Nails a far out abstract nightmare vibe, some of the kid trappings are unconvincing (like one kid walks around with a paintball gun, cute but totally out of touch with what a kid would do). The Hole captures fantasy wonder nicely and is darkly out there. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing

October 25 [Christmas theme night] (11 hours, 15 minutes watched)

125. Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016, 99 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ There are some effective PG13 scares and imagery making OoE superior to the original and a fair genre film. It's a cool premise that exploits the apperance if childhood innocence to menacing effect but some of the theme feel a little spot on to the rash of other similarly themed and dated period horrors of late. Format: Theatrical. 1st Viewing
126. Night of the Living Deb (2016, 99 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ The lead seems more obnoxious than funny, self aware films can be fun but this one doesn't land ending up as a collection of lukewarm one liners and cutesy 'jokes.' It's nicely upbeat in parts if you're looking for a change of pace. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing

128. What We Become (2015, 85 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Better than I expected - disposes of zombies for much of it's run time instead advancing with angst, mystery, and good tension. The shady government forces add a nice depth. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing

132. La Leyenda Del Chupacabra (2016, 81 minutes) ★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ Gets points for ambition, a kids movie about El Chupacabra, but sunk with intermingled tangents that are bloated with thin 'humor' and feeling too simple (even for a toon). Format: Theatrical. 1st Viewing
133. Don't Breath (2016, 88 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Delightfully wicked with taunt plot and just enough 'out there.' Well directed with some clever tracking shots and what appeared to be uninterrupted takes. Format: Theatrical. 1st Viewing
134. Out of the Dark (1995, 86 minutes) ★★✰✰✰✰✰✰✰✰ Dreadful pop culture 'comedy' spoof that feels too random and many jokes fail to land, the lead is too hammy. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme
135. Darr @ the Mall (2014, 120 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Impressive foreign film with a cool cavernous mall setting. While some elements feel overly familiar and the cast is sparse (for example there is a party with just a few wallflowers) it's fast paced, eerie, and fun. I was hoping for some Bollywood style antics but aside from a music video style number in the middle this is mostly straight. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme
136. Ghostbusters [Theatrical cut] (2016, 116 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Bloated with jokes that are more cringeworthy than funny and an odd pseudoscience fetish. 137. Witchboard (1986, 98 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Dated with cheesy fashion on a Whitesnake theme song, mostly people sit around explaining the films ouija mythos. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing

October 27 [Anthology theme night] (12 hours, 37 minutes watched)
138. Lights Out (2016, 81 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ Very cool premise that gets butchered by over explanation making it a supernatural family drama with an awkward villain, disappointing but tense enough to be worth watching. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing
139. Mexico Barbaro (2014, 115 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰ Being a sucker for ethnic folklore I was looking forward to this anthology film - it's a series of strange visuals and lurid twists that feels too over the top at times, played for shocks, but worth seeing and has some clever twists.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
140. All Hallow's Eve (2013, 83 minutes) ★★★½✰✰✰✰✰✰ Amateurish with obvious costumes and recycled footage cobbled together for a serviceable anthology. The clown theme is feels forced. It's not especially bad but not great.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
141. ABCs of Death 2 (2016, 125 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ More conventional than the first with fewer oddball humor or far out segments, despite some uneven stories I liked the first ABCs better but this sequel was a lot of fun. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Theme
142. The Descent (2005, 100 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ Tense and atmospheric with a claustrophobic cavern setting with a strong group of potential heroines. Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing Subset
143. Inner Demons (2014, 83 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Maybe I just caught it in the right mood but it's top tier in my book. This is a smart documentary style film that lampoons substance abuse related reality tv (like A&E's Intervention) as a set up for a case of possible demonic possession. Well developed characters. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing
144. Rites of Spring (2011, 80 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Heist movie that intermingles with pagan horror elements to good effect, at times more focused on crime drama or slow but seems to mix in just the right about of horror. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Subset
145. Blood and Black Lace (1963, 90 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Stylish thriller that's well executes but a bit too 'mod' and straight for my preference; the excellently designed killer seems fleeting as police procedural elements kick into high gear. 149. Frankenstein Created Woman (1967, 92 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Subtly subversive gender bending with long set up towards it's vengeful conclusion - I enjoyed it but also found the pacing off and while Peter Crushing is in fine form the villain actors are really hammy twits; dips it's toe into schlock in what seems like a amusing twist on Frankenstein but also explores less the interesting strange gender dynamics focusing instead of formulaic kills. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
150. Microwave Massacre (1983, 76 minutes) ★★★★★★★★½✰ It's not high art but this aimless dark b-movie balances awkward humor and murder effectively, Jackie Vernon does a great job carrying things even if they run the danger of becoming one note flirting with almost getting stale with limited plot, nice twist ending. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing
151. Haunting of Morella (1990, 82 minutes) ★★★★★★★½✰✰ Gothic horror that is unexpectedly fast paced with witchcraft, blood baths, possessions, and a suitable amount of sleaze - ornate but not pretentious and low brow enough to be a lot of fun. Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing

157. Excision (2012, 82 minutes) ★★★★✰✰✰✰✰✰ I enjoyed Excision before but this time the character struck me as written to be too obnoxiously 'weird' and while some of the direct one liners were amusing this viewing left me feeling like Excision is a one trick pony with the ending. 158. Young Frankenstein (1974, 105 minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Clever blending of universal monster tropes with humor - maybe I'm just uptight but I never found Mel Brooks to be laugh out loud funny but there are some moments of brilliant. Format: Blu-ray.
159. Anguish (2015, 91 minutes) ★★★★★★✰✰✰✰ Moody and more dramatic than expected from typical horror movies. Effective but at times some of the somber takes seem pretentious, still a smart take on the subject. Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing Theme

169. Christmas Nightmare (2001, 90minutes) ★★★★★✰✰✰✰✰ Randomly got this at a store closing years ago and enjoyed it previously - despite some over acting it's competently directed with an intelligent plot about witnesses to a presidential assassination staying in a haunted cabin. Re-watching it this time it's still a well directed complex movie but doesn't hold up as well as I remember.Format: DVD. Theme

October 31 [Halloween theme night] (13 hours, 10 minutes watched)
171. The Ones Below (2015, 87 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Watched nearly at random because of the cryptic poster/copver art hoping for a more 'evil' film than this pedestrian story that seems to revel in being predictable. While there was twists it lacks atmosphere and seems too much watching between things developing one of two ways.Format: Streaming [Netflix]. 1st Viewing
172. Hellions (2015, 82 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ Struggles to juggle abstract versus stalker tones that doesn't really work well together - fantasy elements diminish some of the tension but don't get 'far out' enough to really stand on their own.Format: Blu-ray. 1st Viewing Theme
173. Halloween [Commentary with J. Carpenter, J.L. Curtis, and D. Theme
174. Halloween II (1981, 92 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Shoves strange mythos into the Halloween franchise with some awkard exposition (everyone seems to just know and share the backstory), brilliant staged in a hospital that comes across as so vacant it's unbelievable. Maintains the methodical pacing of the first but doesn't offer much very worth to the franchise that you can't catch later in the series. Format: Blu-ray. Theme Subset
175. The Mirror (2014, 88 minutes) ★★★★½✰✰✰✰✰ 'Meh' found footage film with some over acting that tends to drag a little offering a premise that's not especially unique or well done; it's not a bad movie but there is better haunted movie fare.Format:Streaming [Netflix].
176. Scooby Doo: Where's My Mummy? (2005, 75 minutes) ★★★★★★½✰✰✰ Multifaceted plot for a kids movie with action hero archeologists, legions of undead, and even civil engineering. Some of the egypt mythos come across as hammy but overall worth watching if you're into Scooby Doo flashbacks. Format: DVD. [color=red]/color]
177. Scooby Doo: Legend of the Vampire (2003, 72 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ Fast paced and nicely musical capturing the creepiness of vampires in a Scooby Doo style rock opera with some fan service nods to earlier Scooby Doo installments. Format: DVD. [color=red]/color]
178. Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015, 89 minutes) ★★★★★★★✰✰✰ A fun family movie that gives a modern take on humor with monsters and ends in a glorious vampire standoff, more socially conscious than it might get credit for. Format: Streaming [Vudu].
000. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966, 25 minutes) ★★★★★★★★✰✰ A classic that captures some of the sense of childhood wonderment with a cool, not too rare, line drawing style.Format: Streaming [Vudu]. Theme
179. Within (2016, 89 minutes) ★★★★★½✰✰✰✰ Serviceable, better going in knowing nothing about it but also was 'blindsided' because it's not my favorite 'subgenre' and I think the plot it too familiar but also too random to really 'make sense.' Format: Streaming [Vudu]. 1st Viewing
