Deb, I've already requested it from the Library here. You can borrow it after me.

So you can get it for $10 total? Can we meet and can I bring my switch and buy the upgrade (hotspot) instead of you returning it first?

Edit: There's one left available at Indian Springs so I got that one being sent to me. If there's no time limit on this, I can just wait until mine is ready to pick up close to home.

Well let me know if you get that one before I get mine sent. I don't know how it works with the Library.

How about whoever gets it first tries it and if it works we meet and the other buys it at the spot just in case they catch on and stop it?

You know you would still need the cart to play after upgrading, correct?

Nope, it gives the full Switch 2 game!!

I have both Zeldas on the way before I heard of this, Imma try to buy their upgrade packs.

Too bad I didn't know about this before getting Mario Party Jamboree, would have gotten it for $20 vs $80 (still love it, but $60 is $60).

Yeah it feels like WB messed up with this big time.

Nintendo doesn't require the cart after you upgrade to S2 version the way PS4/PS5 did?

Apparently not.

Kirby for $20 next week Thursday.... I'm in! And I even have it already requested at the library  In transit, perfect timing.

Has anyone actually tried this or are we all just assuming Nintendo never considered it?

Reddit has reported success.

Reddit. Haven of nothing but factual posts.

If it is true, there is a 0% chance Nintendo doesn't patch it out within a week and break the games of anyone who was doing it.

Worth a $10 try! If it doesn't work out wait until the next sale and get it for $12, $22 total.

It's $22 right now. Which is an unbelievable price for one of the best open world games to come out in the last 5 years. Support the devs if you want to play it.

They do, at least for the other upgrades. In this case WB did something completely different, and I'm not aware of another "upgrade" like it.

That's Nintendo. That is an expansion. Completely different than Hogwarts Legacy. Pump the brakes, Deb.

I bought it at full price for the PS5 at launch. My conscience is clear.

How about Vice.com?

People Are Downloading Hogwarts Legacy for Free on Switch 2

Of course this isn't correct. It's $10, not free. But still.

So it's a WB thing, not a Nintendo thing. That I can see.

Why is it just coming out in articles now? Is the upgrade usually more expensive than $10?

2 months ago on reddit (could be another source even older), it just made it into mainstream now.

Switch 2 upgrade: is it true that you can buy the upgrade and play without the cartridge? : r/HarryPotterGame

You could buy them, but it's just a texture pack. You won't be able to play the game that way without the cart.

The Steam version is regularly on sale for close to $10 ($12.59 on Fanatical right now, for example), so they're probably fine with people paying $22 for it.

It's like 12 bucks for the switch 1 version and 10 bucks for the upgrade, that's what Noonan is advocating for.

I actually have the physical version and I wonder if I should just open my switch 2 and buy the upgrade pack before they take the option away... ;)

I made it through 9 minutes of Kirby AIr Riders before I turned it off. There's nothing necessarily bad with it, but for me specifically there's no need for it when I have Mario Kart World and Sonic Crossworlds. Pass for me.

Kirby Air Riders - November 20th!

I wonder what the schedule will look like othrrwise. Is Nintendo going to double-up on a month? Will it be Metroid Prime 4 in September and Hyrule Warriors in December (or vice versa)? Will there be a surprise Mario anniversary game before the year’s out?
