I downloaded Astro Bot’s Playroom a few days ago and I love it! I’ve got one more area to clear (the meadow) and then I’ve gotta go back and find the things I’ve missed.
Such a great little game.
Astro Bot is going to be a favorite… I’m calling it now!

Astro Bot is 100 times better than Astro's Playroom.

Yeah... plus Astro Bot is the best bit of nostalgia that I've played in ages.

while true, Astro Bot doesn’t have the ‘spring’ power that Playroom has. That one was a bit awkward, but I’m surprised it didn’t carry over into at least one level.
I wish the ’sponge’ power was used on more than one level in Astro Bot. That and the ‘mouse’ power are two of the most fun things in the game.

If it were to have been in Astro Bot, I would have done it, but reading that it’s not there, I’m okay. 😉

Still playing and freaking love the Playroom. I never knew my controller was needed to progress. Never knew you could swing it around and stuff and have the action on screen mirror what I’m doing with controller. Utterly fantastic feature.

4 hours is more like 4 weeks for me with the limited time I have to play. I did clear the first area. the jungle area. I think. but, I'm getting a feel for the controls and i think AB will be so much easier to get into. this is like AB's demo. I can't wait however so I may give up on the Playroom and jump to AB, I 'm having so much fun.

As someone who had Astro's Playroom extremely high on my game of the year list when it came out I'll disagree that Astro Bot is "100 times better" or "so much better" than Playroom. There is more stuff to do sure and obviously a longer game but its similar enough to me in its core gameplay that saying 100 times better is some extreme hyperbole.

Whew! I’m in the home stretch, having finally finished Splashing Sprint. Let us never speak of it again. Hopefully I’ll score the platinum over the next couple of days.

Seriously, Q, find me one article or review that reflects your opinion that they're basically the same. Just one.
Here's IGN :
Kotaku
The Gamer :
I agree with you that the bones of this game are in that one. And the first was still cute and charming. But it was basically a tech demo. And the levels were very short and simplistic. This new game is packed with levels, escalating challenges, boss fights, collectable to find. It's a much deeper and more varied game.
Here's IGN :
If 2020’s Astro's Playroom was like a museum – albeit one with fun playable exhibits – Astro Bot is like a theme park, throwing a new thrill at you around every corner and after every double-jumped gap.
Astro Bot, a sequel to the free PS5 pack-in title Astro’s Playroom, finally smashes together the premises of both that tech-demo-turned-game and its VR predecessor, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, into a singular powerhouse
How much does Astro Bot improve on its foundations from the Playroom? Well, a lot, actually, as we'll see. Both titles are solid 3D platformers and must-haves for a PS5 owner - granted, one of them comes for free, anyway.

I think I'm going to skip Playroom for now and jump into the regular game.

I got through the end credits in the wee hours this morning! Found all puzzle pieces and rescued all the bots (except the golden statue thingie). Next up is whatever's left to mop up for the platinum ( 20 11 10 4 trophies to go to unlock the plat!).

18 hours, according to the dashboard. This might be a little inflated by pausing the game to take care of other stuff around the house, and it's definitely inflated by some of the challenge levels taking me an inordinately long time to master.

I'll concede 100 times is hyperbole. But while I enjoyed Astro's Playroom quite a bit for a few sittings, I am obsessed with Astro Bot and can't wait to play some more and 100% every level. I think it's phenomenal. I'm okay with that being the final word on this.
