Alan Wake 2 (2023)

Re: Alan Wake 2 (2023)
They had these same accessibility options added to Control. That's the only reason I went back and cleared some side content I had previously given up on. I was going to most likely skip the AW2 dlc but this gives me a higher chance of playing it.

New Alan Wake content sounds cool but brief.

My copy arrived yesterday, but I need to get through the first game first. I forgot how clunky it was. But I wanna get through it and Control before tackling Alan Wake II.

Played through both the DLC's today. Both super short around 2 hours apiece and that is with me getting all the trophies. Both also kind of expect that you've played through Control since storylines and characters from that are heavily featured in both DLC packs.

Wow, this may be the best-looking game I've ever played. Crazy good. I played right up until you get into town, I didn't go to the cafe yet - I hear the first sweet baby inc. pandering moment hits there as well (I heard there was another major one at the end too, Hope it doesn't ruin the game).
Since I haven't played it in some weeks, I can't remember what the place is called where you go in your head (the mind place or something like that?) I actually like that, it adds depth to the game for me, but I can definitely see how some wouldn't some like it.
I love how you can literally run everywhere as well - it removes the "being on rails" feel.
So far I love it.

Re: Alan Wake 2 (2023)
Finally completed it.
The game should have been called: "
"Saga Anderson: An Alan Wake Story. Featuring Alex Casey with special guest appearance by Alan Wake".
I really, really, really, hope they don't bring Saga back for the third game, her voice acting is like nails on a chalkboard - her performance is soulless. The sweet baby inc. lines she spouts are so out of character as well - thankfully there aren't many of them.
Alan wake isn't even the secondary character in this game. "50/50" between Saga and Alan my ass, Saga is the main protagonist in this game by a mile. Wake's playthrough is so damn half-baked it's laughable. There are numerous parts where you literally just run around for a minute or two and you're then hit with "end of chapter" - I literally laughed out loud numerous times when that occurred.
Wake's mind place (or whatever his is called) is laughable as well and it feels like Wake and Saga's roles were reversed - A lot of the Wake story during gameplay reeks of rushed changes.
I also didn't need to see Sam Lake constantly in this game - wtf was that?? I get that it's your creation, but you need to know when to take a step back - he literally further pulls the spotlight away from Wake - I was pretty dumbfounded by that.
For the good: It's actually a great game though, but it's one of those games I will never playthrough again. While I liked the mind place and plot boards at first, I was seriously ready to throw my controller at the screen towards the end - it's becomes unbearable, then you have to also listen to all the dialogue that goes along with it - Wakes manuscript pages become a chore to listen to and it REALLY gets on your nerves after a while.
I started the Lake House DLC and I'm not really into it - I don't even know if I will finish it.
For those who are starting their first playthrough - DO NOT play the Night Springs episodes that pop-up in game on designated TV sets (there are 3 of them) I played the first 2 in-game and while they were fun, they expose you to areas of the map\things you haven't seen yet in the main game. I guess they weren't originally available in-game at release because it is DLC. On main menu if you go to play the Night Springs episodes, it warns you that it will expose you to story elements you might not have played through yet, but in-game it doesn't throw up the warning.
It was reported back in Nov. that this game still hasn't made its money back - I don't know how true that is, but not surprising if most people found out that Wake isn't the main character int he game before purchasing.
Lastly, as good as the game's environments looked (and they are damn good), the first games environment was MUCH better. I was so let down that barely any of the game took place in the forests\mountains. Such a missed opportunity. But hey, we got "Coffee World"......Whatever.
If there is a third, I really hope Remedy pulls their head out of their asses and doesn't repeat the mistakes from this game.
I both loved and hated the game.

Re: Alan Wake 2 (2023)
Game started off on a bad note. The first 2 chapters, there was video skipping and audio drop outs
. That went away, but then had item pick up glitch. I picked up ammo, batteries and such and they wouldn't be added to my total
.
But after that it was all great. Loved playing as SAGA and putting cases together with clues and such. Game is beautiful as fuck. Game was even more confusing then before. The "Chapter We Sing" was a Wtfuck :
: and "Chapter Room 665" was
.
Night Springs dlc were fun and dumb
and Lake House dlc was real good but got hard at a certain point when I had a shit load of enemies and low on ammo. Took me a shit load of tries, of having to lure one enemy to me, kill then save in between every kill and If i did bad then I reloaded.
Got all 100% Achievements, and I hope Remedy does a third one.

Re: Alan Wake 2 (2023)
I play the first one around Halloween every year - not all the way through or anything, just pick up where I left off from the previous year - even with it's repetitive gameplay, it's still a much better game than the second one, especially with the DLC's.
