Re: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
I believe I just read that they've added a Discovery Tour mode recently, too.
To be honest, that mode in Odyssey and Origins was one of my favourite aspects of the game and had me seeking out documentaries on Ancient Egypt and Greece as well as having me wanting to travel to those places...errr, modern day of course
Our local museum actually used parts of Origins in an exhibition on Ancient Egypt. Love the history behind these games.

Oy, just started this and wish I'd read about the PS4 load times. Brutal. My favorite is the 2 minutes it takes sometimes you wait to hear an NPC say one line.
I tried to do my first River Raid and after 6 minutes of load time not connecting to the Quest I bailed. Guess I won't be doing River Raids.

Ugh, you have to have both games installed - I uninstalled Odyssey a while ago, and I don't think I have enough space to re-install it - maybe I'll delete something else and re-install it if it's good DLC. But I've heard it's sorta meh.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
That’s disappointing. I have Odyssey on Xbox and Valhalla on PS5, so without buying a duplicate, I can’t have both on the same console at the same time.
Can you let me know where you saw that? (Sorry if it’s something super obvious like in the trailer.) Skimming through some articles, I haven’t seen that mentioned.

i saw this yesterday and must say it does look and sound intriguing.......coming next march at a price tag of $40 which might be a turn off but games like Elder Scrolls and Destiny charge this all the time for expansions.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla expansion sends Eivor into a war of flame and ice.... Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök sends Eivor into an icy war - Polygon

The Season pass is 50% off in the PS Store and I'm thinking about getting it for the Druid and Paris DLC....for those who played them how was it and worth it?....I mean both DLC Packs in the store are about $24 each....

Re: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
I just started playing this last night as a male Eivor. This is my first game that I'm playing on my new PS5 besides Astro's Playroom.
My first impressions are that I don't like that you can't mark enemies with your raven. Also, the combat seems clunkier than Odyssey. I don't like that you have to collect rations now either, but hopefully things will improve as I get further along.
The game asked me if I wanted to blur or hide nudity. Heck no! Is this the first AC game with full nudity? I haven't seen any yet, BTW.

^^ You'll get over those changes pretty quickly... pushing the "R" thumbstick to "search" for enemies is pretty effective and less clunky than using the bird. As you progress, you can use the bird to spot and attack enemies anyhow; but it does take a while to get to that point.
So it's pretty obvious that Ubi+ is going to come to Game Pass sooner than later. Allegedly all of the Ubi games will be "free" or eventually free like EA Subscribe. If Ubi's plan was F2P anyhow, this makes sense... but we all know that nothing is F2P.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
Yes, it's taking me a bit of time to get into this game, mainly because of the changes as I've played Origins and Odyssey with no other games in between to go full on AC Trilogy mode. Not digging Valhalla as much mainly due to lack of more historic scenery like Greece and Egypt but it's still early in.
Side Note:
Really loved the crossover stuff. The Odyssey one nicely wrapped up Kassandra's story with a nice little nod to
after the credits. Her
It all just made me miss Odyssey and was nice to return to that world for a bit as Kassandra is my favourite of the AC series heroes. I'd love for AC to go full on Spider-verse and have a mega event or game that brings in characters and settings past, weaving Kassandra through the history. That and an AC game sent in Samurai era Japan.

Yeah, since Kassandra was pretty much immortal up until modern times - they can (and should) make multiple AC games, throughout all times and locations with her as the lead.

Playing this on the PC. This game is such a time-sink, there's so much to do I'm going to have to try and limit myself to the main storyline.

Then I get distracted by the Yule Festival and Reda contracts that I forget what the hell the main story is

I'm bad to try to clear out everything on the map in the area that I'm currently in. That adds hours and hours of time spent in the game.
Another pet peeve of mine with this game is that it's always checking for add-ons for 2-3 minutes every time I boot the game up. It's getting annoying.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
I'm about 20 hours in and just formed my first alliance in England with Soma. I've decided to just try to clear out the wealth and mystery objectives on the map. Trying to go after every little icon is so time consuming.
I tried to take on a level 90 Zealot when I was at level 28 and got destroyed. After four attempts where I couldn't get his health down past the halfway mark, I gave up. I wish you could see their level before you attack.
Some of the mysteries are heart breaking, The old man with dementia and the little girl with the leaf are very sad.
I have my settlement up to level 3. Is the Yule festival event worth participating in?
Also, I really don't like the controls for the ship. I liked the boat in Odyssey better.
Overall, I'm liking the game more and finally getting into a groove with it now.

I didn't know that. I just saw him and knocked him off his horse with a shot from my bow. I also stumbled upon one of the witches that was level 90. I couldn't get her health down past 75%. She kept teleporting all over the place....
