Yeah, it's nothing like a Zelda game. No dungeons, different sort of progression system. I felt it was probably closest to a Far Cry kind of game. Though in many ways, it's pretty similar to the most recent God of War as well as Ghost of Tsushima. And I absolutely loved it.

I almost joined the club yesterday. I got the alert for Best Buy and was able to get on immediately, but when I tried to add it to my cart, I got a message that they were requiring a second step, which I’m guessing was to foil bots. Had to wait another 15 minutes to add it to my cart, which I did successfully, but then every nearby store available for pickup went out of stock before I could check out. I think I could’ve gotten one if I’d been willing to drive 6 hours round trip, but fuck that. At this point, I may just resign myself to picking it up around the holidays, though I would like to play the new R&C when it releases.

I'd be more understanding of this if the limited supply that was out there wasn't sitting in the houses of the scalpers. Why can't they do a thing where people like us that have had a Target account for several years now can get first crack at buying one? Just one, so they know it's not being scalped. Same with Walmart or any other retailer.

Found out a buddy of mine has been scalping PS5s. Kinda shitty. Silver lining-ish, no bots involved. He's just been persistent with hopping online when they pop up as available. Then he sells them locally. I think he said he sold about 4-6 of them since launch. Nothing like the piles of them you see online.

I wonder if there are legal issues with holding stock just for people that have an account on your site (that aren't otherwise listed as exclusives). But that would work exactly one time, after which every scalper would just create 50 accounts.

I do think Sony tries to do this with the customers who sign up for their queues but I know lots of people have had no luck.

Just look at recent trophies, amount of time on PSN, and if they are already playing on a PS5. If not, send them an invite to purchase one. It would be that simple. You already have an email of theirs. If they don't frequently check it then too bad.
