Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Pretty much read my mind, Adam. I’ll probably stick with Xbox. I just noticed I have the Uncharted Collection on PSN and I have never played any of the games. Same with Ratchet and Clank.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I don't know how you guys feel the Dual Sense isn't comfortable. I love it. Just perfect for my hands. And the exclusives like Returnal and R&C Rift Apart are going to really go all in with using the special features, but even Dirt 5 is a totally different experience playing a racing game with haptic feedback, feeling the throttle or going over bumpy roads. I really feel that XSX dropped the ball by not doing more with their controller, and I expect them to offer a haptic controller sometime during this generation of console to "catch up". It's what makes the console feel like a true "Next Gen" experience.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

It seems like Xbox has always skimped on their controller (except for the Elite) but it’s always felt natural.

I found a years sub to PS Plus for $28. Deciding whether I should spring for Now or not. Maybe at a discount. Do they ever offer them?

Should I hook up an external hard drive? I know they don’t offer the optimized drive like Xbox does but will I see better performance on games like Last of Us 2 and Uncharted on the internal drive or will the external be just fine? I’m assuming I should save the internal for the actual PS5 games?

Also rest mode yay or nay? I’ve heard good and bad things.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

With PS Plus on the PS5, you get the PS Plus Collection included at no additonal cost. That's a bunch of REALLY good PS4 games to download. That should tide you over with lots of great exclusives for quite a while. I wouldn't spring for PS Plus -- ever, but certainly not before you explored that.

It's a duration thing for me. It doesn't immediately feel uncomfortable, but if I'm playing for hours at a time, my hands (I guess really just my right hand) cramp up in a way they don't with the Switch Pro or Xbox controllers.

Could it be due to the analog placements or were you fine with Dualshock 4?

I am with Adam. Long sessions hurt my hands with PS5 controller. No issues with Xbox one.

Love the Dual sense. No issues here. Huge improvement over the DS4.

Also just started Control last week. It's alright, not the Game of a generation the thread here makes it out to be.

I’m another that thinks the controller is uncomfortable. To be fair it’s not all on the controller. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis in both hands.

Do you find the XSX or XO controller significantly more comfortable?

I don’t have the last two gen xboxes. I don’t remember the 360 controller being uncomfortable, although I was more young and spry in those days.

We have Xbox One controllers for both our Xbox and our PC Gaming and find them to be the superior shape. The PlayStation controllers are okay but if I could use the Xbox ones on the PS I would.

Same here. While I love the PS5 controller, if I play for awhile, my hands start cramping up. I wouldn't change it though, because it really gives the PS5 a "next gen feel." I love the speaker in the controller as well. I finally landed a XBox Series X last week. That controller feels like it was made for my hands. Very comfortable and easy to hold.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Playstation has been my preferred controller since PS4, although I've never really had any problems with comfort during long sessions.

However, I have not met a portable console in my lifetime that hasn't caused one or both hands to go numb after 45 minutes.

Maybe I am jaded after playing Spider-man and God of War, but I am not digging Infamous 2 or Horizon Zero Dawn at all. And I loved the PS3 infamous game. At least these are free.

Infamous 2 is a PS3 game are you talking about Infamous: Second Son (the 3rd game)? I love Spider-Man and God of War and I think HZD is better than both of them.

yeah second son, my bad. For some reason I thought it was only the 2nd one. But yeah the story of HZD and Infamous:SS aren't just grabbing me like Spider-Man and GoW did.

HZD was incredible and one of the best games on PS4.

Meh. Just not feeling it. I mean it is good but just not grabbing me like those other 2 games.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I never finished HZD myself. It didn't really grab me either. I did have a blast with Second Son though. Of course it being a launch window game always impacts impressions of those early gen games.

I couldn't get into HZD either. I just wasn't having fun playing it.

But I did have fun with Second Son, especially as it got rolling (but I had never played an Infamous title extensively prior to that)

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I just finished Infamous Second Son. At first, I wasn't really interested, and didn't enjoy it near as much as the first two games. After a couple hours though, I ended up liking it quite a bit. The different powers kept it kind of fresh, although I definitely ended up preferring one or two of the five the become available.

I wondering if Infamous: Third Class Citizen will ever happen? There are more out there.

Did you folks to weren't impressed by HZD get through the early stages when you're younger and get to when it opens up to a proper open world game?

of course. It just seems like a generic zelda clone to me
