It does, and you can't do anything else while the transfer occurs. I'm sure the 30-60 second differences in loading times isn't worth the extra time it takes to transfer.

Yes they will essentally all be playable on the PS5. If they are currently on the PS4 internal HDD, you should use your time now to transfer almost everything to an external HDD and connect it to your PS4. They will play exactly the same but moving them to the new console will be dead simple (and you will need every GB of free SSD space for new PS5 games on the new system).

The hard-drive in my PS4 is already an external drive that I took out of it's casing and shoved into my PS4 since I needed more drive-space. Can I just take that back out of the PS4 and plug it into the PS5? Or do I need the PS4 to be operational?

Worst case scenario, you keep the external HDD in the PS4 when you initially do your PS5 set-up, do NOT transfer the games and apps during the set up, then once the PS5 is set up, take the external drive out of your PS4, put the casing back on it and then plug it into the back of your PS5. I think that would work.

6 minutes. I hope this works.

I jumped in the queue the second it was opened, and I was "in line" for almost an hour - when it was my turn, it took me to the PS store, where both consoles version were out of stock. WTF?

This item has recently gone out of stock......

I just wasted an hour and a lot of mobile data on this.....

I actually had an add to cart button on the disc version, but it said it was out of stock when I tried to add it to my cart.

Yeah, giving you a 5-hour window, and yet selling out in less than 30 minutes is some bullshit!

I think I got in just a few minutes before you, and I didn't get the add-to-cart button.

Anyway, guess I'll keep whining about not being able to get a PS5 - took more than two months to get this invite, no idea how long to get another that could very well fail. I actually had the time to go on and do it immediately, no idea if I'll be able to again. I still don't believe people who say they bought a PS5 at retail - y'all bought from scalpers and are too ashamed to admit it!

Stay on the webpage and keep refreshing. I had the add to cart button pop back up, but it said it was out of stock again....

Check again in a bit. That's how I got mine from Sony Direct.

Yeah, I got the email and clicked through to the countdown and got nothing, but I checked back a little later and had a buy button. No idea why it happened.

Did you all click the email again or just kept refreshing the page? I've been refreshing all this time and nothing so far.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Honestly I don’t think I even refreshed because I thought it was a lost cause, I had just left the browser tab open while I did other things.

Nope, checked again, and I got a "referral denied" page.
Oh well.

I'm about to give up too. I'll keep checking throughout the rest of the "window".

I'm getting a message that says this event has ended.... Well better luck next time I guess.

Man, I'm sorry. I'm surprised too because the sony method has been pretty good with their queue (that's how I originally got mine), but I guess even that is a crapshow now.

Amazon is supposed to have some if you're a Prime member between now and New Years:

Best Buy has some PS5's now. I'm in a virtual queue.

I missed out on them too....

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I think I'm giving up on getting a PS5 for the foreseeable future. The Ebay bots basically steal most of them. I saw the tweet about Best Buy having some, but of course it went to the virtual queue that went nowhere.

I know it's Christmas and all, but I can't believe so many people keep supporting these Ebay scalpers and and their 50-60% mark ups. I know I know it's all about demand and demand far exceeds supply and these scalpers are basically full on retail businesses and they're making thousands and thousands.
