Re: The Outer Worlds (10/25/2019: PC, XB1, PS4)

if i'm really into this game and can manage fairly easy, operate menus, perks, skills, etc...(though i'm still early on, only level 6 or 7 i believe), is it safe to say i would like and be able to get into easily the Fallout series?

i remember trying 3 long ago, but abandoned bc of control or something, can't really remember...

i will say, the load times going between each region or place, center, etc., with all the backtracking, in the beginning, is a little frustrating...

If you're liking The Outer Worlds for the style, play, atmosphere and thinking of giving Fallout a try, then look for Fallout 4 come Black Friday. That was my first delve into the Fallout series and loved it. The story is great, companions fun (only can take one and not two by the way), has a bit of the same character choices and builds you might want to do. Have outfits and guns to try, build, maintain, enhance. Has far more crafting to do in terms of gear, food and such. And you have "Settlements"...a.ka. like your Ship in Outer Worlds...that's your Safe Zone that you sort of maintain, direct NPC's to balance out, make sure they have defenses, water, food and once-in-awhile have to fast travel to protect when under attack. Of course one of the if not the coolest things is wearing and getting all the various "Fallout Armor" you see on the cover. But the companions...like in Outer Worlds really help out and make the game fun...it didn't get high review scores for nothing....

There was a lot of excitement for that game when it hit...... https://forum.dvdtalk.com/video-game...ut-4-a-14.html .....and a big plus; there was a lot of extra content released as well. As a article I linked to said..."There was close to 400 hours of stuff to see and do in that game"....

I would say if you're really into the dialog stuff in the Outer Worlds, you will be severely disappointed by the dialog options in Fallout 4.

Yeah, Fallout 4 severely limited dialog options. You basically get to decide between being agreeable, neutral or grumpy, but all three options lead to the same place.

Why I'd love to help you find your puppy!
Sure, if I see your dog I'll bring him back here.
Screw you and your dog. I'll go find that stupid runt.

That doesn’t sound too good, but did get great reviews and a friend of mine said best game he’s ever played.

Wow....that's great...I was going to say I saw it on Amazon for $15.00.....I think you'll like it despite the different world you'll play in versus the colorful paradise of OW's....while it might be lacking in the Dialogue Department compared to OW's...it makes it up in the Combat Area where's there's no shortage there with some nice surprises here and there....

It's still a fun game; the conversation choices were the main area of disappointment for me. Earlier Fallout games were much closer to Outer Worlds in that department.

Do the load times between going to different parts, bother anyone else? Holy fuck they are long, frequent and annoying. How bout a patch for that??

Yeah, I know it’s drab. But, you’re saying more combat? I’m all for that. I couldn’t get into 3, but don’t think I gave enough of chance. This looks good with beasties and stuff. I mean there are beasties in OW, but really just these marauders and I don’t think I’ve seen any different kinds. Some beasties in world can be bitches too. New Vegas?
Are these what all RPGs are like? Mass Effect, Skyrim, etc. Not sure why I was so scared of them. I guess the JRPGs like Borderlands got me prepped for the longer haul...

I'm not a huge fan of the loading times either.

The load times aren't ideal, but they give my eyes a break from squinting at the text. They have definitely affected my decisions about switching areas. "Go back to the ship and add to my hoarding problem? No, it'll take too long. Just break it all down."

Re: The Outer Worlds (10/25/2019: PC, XB1, PS4)

Well, apparently the patch will fix at least the text. When’s that out? But those load times got to be fixed. Still having so much fun with this game. Not a lot of fighting yet if at all, but still a fun world with lots more to do I’m sure...

And isn’t JRPG the term for a junior rpg that isn’t as difficult or in depth as the true ones like Skyrim? Like the Borderlands’...

JRPG is short for Japanese RPG. That’s stuff like final fantasy or dragon quest. Those were usually more linear than traditional western rpgs.

Too bad us PS4 owners won't be able to get this...hats off to Obsidian for the Outer Worlds and think they have a bright future but not with PS4 owners.....

From Polygon....."We Talked To Obsidian about Grounded...mixing Honey, I Shrunk The Kids And A Survival Game".... https://www.polygon.com/2019/11/14/2...-xbox-one-x019

i could've sworn though there was such thing as junior RPG and Borderlands was included. a lighter, not as complex RPG type game...

So far, this is going to be on sale for Black Friday.... I'm holding out hope for a sale at Gamestop since their ad isn't out yet or a pre-Black Friday sale. I want to play this, but I don't want to pay $60 to play this....
