Though not sure how politically correct the thread is.

Ah, thanks!
I've wanted to play God of War since it came out on the playstation. Finally got it for the pc. Loving the heck out of it. Pretty, good story.

Just got those flame swords. Man, are they destructive. I presume they played roll in the OT. Really cool effects and kills.
I also, love the fact that this started as a simple story of father and son going to spread their wife and mothers’ ashes to this emotionally resonating deeper story that all I know thus far is that Atreus is sick and Kratos never told him he was a god and all the stuff he must have done in the first 3 games. It becomes more and more captivating and layers keep peeling back.

When do you get to fast travel to these lands or places marked by blue on map and do some backtracking to find missed stuff?

thanks, but i gave up for now. just don't have the power. i'll go back to them eventually. i know they give good loot. but, i tried everything and even with a superior resurrection stone, i didn't even get her 1/4 down. way too over matched right now.

Use a very strong rune attack at the beginning. I have a talisman that creates a circle to heal during battle. I also use Arteus’s arrows to help whittle down their health.

I don’t have any runes or talismans like that. I can’t even get my flaming wolves to come out. And, I do use Atreus’ bow quite a lot. It is very useful to pop off 3 shots every few seconds while I bob and weave and use shield. I tried everything, just not ready enough, I mean, I dropped that part to easy and made barely a dent. And, I’m level 4+. I must be doing something wrong. I really regret not doing all the C R N puzzles. More health would help quite a lot. I don’t even know how to get back to them or where they are in first place.

No, I have all that. Pommels for my axe is like a 5+. Something invisible fury. I have runes in the sockets. But nothing powerful enough for Valks. I have been pretty successful with all other beasts though.

Try upgrading your runic attacks. I've killed two or three valkyries and it only took me a couple attempts. The first one took about four attempts for me to get use to their attacks. You really have to dodge and block until you find the right window to get a combo attack in.

Huh. I didn’t know I could upgrade runic attacks. Not even sure I saw that option. I’ll look into that, thanks. How do I make the flame wolves pop up?

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
wow! that was an epic adventure. just perfect. absolutely perfect. the combat, the simple story that opens up as the game goes along. the soundtrack was marvelous and the sites just breathtaking. took me 48 hours and only 37% completion
.
i know there is more to do, but ready for another. would love to jump into Ragnarok, especially after the final end to God of War. But, gonna try something new for now and go to Spider-Man.
but, this was just phenomenal. my heart was beating. the hairs on arms stood up, just really felt everything that was this story. payed attention to every cut scene and saw the lore that i picked up along the way. i can't think of the last time i played such an epic game and actually finished (for the most part). probably Immortals: Fenyx Rising, but that was much harder and more frustrating, but still good. but, doesn't compare to this incarnation of GoW. just amazing.

Re: God of War (4/20/18- PS4)
I got to a spot where I had a prompt for New Game+, so I’ll count that as the end to the main story, declare victory, and move on.
I tried to go through Ivaldi’s Workshop, but kept dying, apparently poisoned by the mist. That was enough for me. The game looked great, but I didn’t really care about killing various monsters and really don’t like moves that are tied to elaborate key combos. I just ignore those kinds of upgrades unless I need them for something else.
The game just isn’t for me, and that’s fine.

^ you’re supposed to go back home and into their cabin to get the cliffhanger ending.
