Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

Will the NG+ trophies be required to get the Platinum going forward? Because I could probably work a Platinum by cleaning up everything I have left to do, but not if I have to beat the game again on insane difficulty and on NG+

DLC trophies are never required for the platinum. You can get the Plat, but it will show your total as less than 100% for the game.

My 51% Platinum with Uncharted 3 still bugs me (all the multiplayer trophies were added later, and I never could be bothered to get into the multiplayer for it).

I suck at those too. You don't need gold for the plat but you do need to be very careful with how you spend your challenge tokens. I would spend your challenge tokens on the suits first to unlock the suits trophy. Then, you might need to spend a few more tokens to get the upgrade 15 gadgets trophy. I *believe* those are the only two trophies dependent on challenge tokens.

The Drone challenges were annoying, but I find that doing the “L1+R1 zip” thing often places you right on the blue zones. If you hit them enough times with that method (and try it a few times) you can get at least two tokens.

Done! I have the Platinum for this game and I’m not sure if I want to start a New Game+. I might get the DLCs though...

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I think I might do New Game+ after all the DLC is out. I'm not sure I want to commit to doing the DLC in NG+/Ultimate (even though NG+ is apparently a separate save slot), and I don't want to unlock things in one playthrough that I don't have access to in another.

I read on another forum that NG+ goes super-quickly if you focus on nothing but the story missions...around 8 hours.

Awesome game, and completed it 100% in around 4 days. It was really well done, but didn't have much depth. I will play it from time to time first the amazing fighting, but its sequel needs to expand on what can be done.

The Heist DLC is up. 2.2 GB download. Free if you bought the season pass, $10 if not.

I still find it funny that Kingpin, as a human, is even remotely a challenge for Spider-Man to fight one on one. It did make for a nice intro to the game, though.

It was shown especially early on in comics that Kingpin could grapple with Spider-man. Canon-wise the excuse is usually that Spidey holds back when facing human opponents, but as was clearly shown in the "Back in Black" arc, he can demolish Kingpin pretty easily.

But in this videogame universe, those damned huge thugs always lay waste to my Spider-man if I don't dodge, so maybe he's just not as strong.

One of my main complaints with the game, and comic movies/shows/books..is inconsistent power levels. It is lazy writing.

Spiderman is strong. Usually how they balance this is he, and other heroes, hold back so they don't kill people. Superman does this, spiderman does this...movies and games tend to not explain this well enough, but this is what happens.

In this game though, Spiderman is shown stopping cars and lifting them above his head. These weigh 4-6 thousand pounds and he is stopping them in motion which is many times the force of that. At many points in the game he is shown displaying 10-20 tons power range...

And yet he gets knocked around by "big" guys. At least with the enemies that have the special enhanced gear it works..but against normal big guys there would be no struggle. None. Zero. End of fight in seconds. I guess that would be boring, so they just ignore this.

But Spidey in the comics shows that kind of strength, and holds back against people. It's just as inconsistent. I mean his rogues gallery includes the enforcers, who are basically a guy named Fancy Dan who knows karate, a dude with a lasso, and a big guy named Ox.

But yeah I should be able to punch those big guys into the air. I mean, he's not exactly holding back when he's punching dudes like 20 feet into the air, pummeling them, and then drop kicking them off of buildings. But then again it's a spider-man game, why do things have to be realistic? Like all those backpacks are going to be around for years (doesn't his webbing like dissolve after a while anyway?)

I know it used to be an hour in the comics (so that Spidey wouldn't be a litterbug by leaving webbing strewn all over NY). Not sure if that's still the case.

In the comics it's always been stated that Kingpin is not fat, he's strong and his size is due to strength. Also, Fisk has been trained in several martial arts/fighting styles. That's why he's able to tangle with many street vigilantes like Punisher, Daredevil, Moon Knight, etc. Still, Spider-Man is incredibly strong and Fisk shouldn't even be a match for him.

Has anyone tried the DLC? My daughter loved the game and she wants the season pass for the DLCs for Christmas. Worth getting it?

I just 100%-ed the first part.

It's a few hours worth of gameplay, if you do all the side quests and stuff. It's more of the same, so since she dug the main game, she'll probably be into this too. I think the only truly new thing might be 'Photo Bombs' in the new challenge quests. There are a few additional suits, but no new gadgets or abilities.

It's definitely the first chapter of a larger story (it doesn't really end so much as stop), and I could see the appeal of waiting to play them all at once. But hey, if you're waiting till Christmas anyway, it's a problem that solves itself!

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I've been liking the Heist story so far but I think there's one thing that's pretty obvious from the get go on the stolen art side quest. Possible spoiler below

Spoiler:

Det. Mackey is Felicia's dad, the original Black Cat, right? It's kind of obvious cause of how he knows where the stolen art is.

Usually, but not always. Hence why i said it. Just Cause 3 being a good example of a sequel actually presenting nothing new and cookie cutting it.
