Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

I think my game glitched. When I look at the map it's telling me that Jacob is hunting me, yet I have already killed him (as evidenced by his sniper rifle in my inventory).

I killed Faith last night, only John to go among the lieutenants.

Random, but does anyone else like the music? I dig the music that plays when you're looking at the map.

Oh, and has anyone played the arcade? I have yet to do so.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Arcade is very hit-or-miss.

Some of the Ubisoft-created levels are kinda fun. I also liked the user-created Die Hard level that has you infiltrating Nakatomi Plaza. Mostly I just do it when you have to play for 30 minutes to unlock a gun in a weekly Live Event online challenge.

Speaking of Live Event weekly challenges, this week we are supposed to kill animals with fire but without using flamethrowers or Molotov. Seriously, I don't know how I am supposed to do that. Sometimes explosions cause fires but not reliably and you can't kill the animals as a result of an explosion so it's hard to pull off.

I beat the campaign last night. Another fun entry into the series.

Has anyone been able to catch The Admiral or Ragnar the Terrible? I think I spent close to half an hour and my line snapped every time I got a hold of The Admiral. Really frustrating.

Do you have the best rod and all the fishing perks? It's pretty easy once you do. They only took me a couple tries.

Did you upgrade your fishing rod? Those took a while for me to do but be patient. The moment there was tension on the line, I just let go of the sticks. Also I didn't always pull against the fish's movement - sometimes I went in the same direction which negates the tension and can bring them in a little closer too.

Slow and steady and not getting too eager once the first gets close are all key.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

I do have the best available fishing rod (the other two are locked) and the perk, but I've still had trouble. What works with regular fishing doesn't work with those two (moving the controller stick in the opposite direction of the fish's movement)

I'll give Draven's tips a try

The last rod is really hard to get but the second-to-last one is easy to unlock. Go do those missions and get that one.

You can get help with the hard catches by having your partner drive the boat and get you close to where the fish is.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Finished the base game just now.
I beat both Faith and Jacob within two days, I had their RP that close.
I can totally see some distaste with the ending but I liked it.

Overall I really enjoyed this game.
Really, the only thing I didn't like was the "No. Try again." mission because I sucked at it.
And I wouldn't have minded the language being toned down just a little. Sometimes the crudeness was really funny, but other times it reminded me of no-talent comedians going for shock value.
The NPCs, though many of them were entirely stereotypical, were overall fun to encounter to, and most had some depth to them (especially Rye and his wife).

I'll try Mars first, especially if it's like Borderlands - I love BL and BL2 but am kinda burned out on them.

I didn't do any non-required fishing, because I hate fishing, and I didn't seriously hunt but I would shoot at and chase animals if I encountered them.

I wonder if this is more DLC or a side game like Primal

Oh, wow! I hadn't seen that. Since they call it "the next Far Cry" at the end, I assume it's standalone. Glad to see the tease towards gonzo weapons.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Given it's been a few months, I'd love to get back into another FC adventure. I'm amazed at how quickly they churn out content.

I'm predicting a regurgitation of the map with new weapons and post-apocalyptic enemies.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Who knows...you have the Farm right there so that's right out of FC5....then consider the story of the Quack Group and their Leader which this might be a fit right down their alley. But isn't it a bit funny this comes out of no-where with all the Fallout 76 woes, bad press, divided player base and bugs galore and of all things showing a Nuke exploding....talk about timing.....

...and I bet it plays and looks better too.....

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Primal did reuse the world map of FC4 (was supposed to be a $20 DLC until Ubisoft got greedy).

If this one is going to reuse the same map, they better not be charging full price, regardless of how much they re-skin it.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Well it is a new game and the latest is this takes place right after the events of FC5...the ending. But looking at the trailer it does say "years of rain" so I don't think as Dorothy in WoOZ said, "We're not in Kansas anymore"....be interesting to see what wasteland this will end up as....something like Fallout 4 or Fallout 76 or something in between since they had Nukes drop also....

I wonder how many years it will have to be before everyone in law enforcement stops calling me “Rook”.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Offical title is Far Cry New Dawn. I bet it's a Primal type side game using the same map layout.

That's what it's always sounded like to me. It's too quick of a turn around after 5 to be a full sequel. I'm interested.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

I'd like to be more excited about New Dawn than I actually am. We already have Rage 2 coming next year! It's hard to be all that jazzed about its non-union Mexican equivalent.
