Here is the program. But it will wipe your card and will take awhile to do because it writes junk data to the card and that's how it directly tests the capacity of the card so it's fool proof. You have to buy an adapter. They have several different types or you can get an SD card to miniSD and use any SD card reader.

Yeah unfortunately no GCN games. There are some remakes available though. Metroid Prime, Pikmin 1&2 and they did have a Mario 3D all stars collection but that's OOP and super expensive now. Maybe they'll eventually come out with it. Maybe they feel like it's too recent?

Sleep mode. There are no movie parts so no reason to shut it off completely. When I do take it with my portably I completely shut it off so it doesn't get accidentally turned on and waste battery. You have to hold the power button down and choose shut down. Or do it in the menu.

I can’t wait to play on big screen or even little screen. I’ll tell you, never in a million years would I have undocked it. Just no interest in handhelds. Well, this certainly changed and blew my mind. So cool. If another console comes out and does the same as this, but better, I’m totally on board. What a fantastic dual layered gaming system.
Maybe you do need that screen protector then.

Holding the Switch and playing it in handheld mode can be a literal pain. There are two products that can help. The satisfye grip, which I have and love just buy the case too, and the Hori split pad pro.

Glad you finally pulled the trigger! Did I really push you over the edge? Or did you already buy it before I responded to your other thread.

Which Switch did you end up getting? Did you get one of the black friday bundles?

^ I ordered a screen protector, should be here tomorrow. no black Friday deals, but many in Amazon were discounted and said lightning deal I believe on many. I just got the regular grey Switch. You, tanman, and Decker pushed me over the edge.

also, if you put a game into your SD card storage, can you play games off of it and not have to move it back to internal storage? and, there is no way for games to download directly to SD card, they all download to internal first, correct?

Where else would you put the game besides either internal or SD card storage, I don't get that question
And you can set up a default place to download your games, i think it's in the storage settings options.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

there is a data management option, but no option to have games auto download to SD.**edit** i think it downloads automatically to SD card. not sure, but think that is what i gathered online.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

*1Save data is never stored on game cards, even for games physically supplied on a game card.

*2Data will be stored on a microSD card if inserted. If the microSD card becomes full, data will automatically be stored in the system memory. Data can be transferred manually at a later date.

*3Regardless of how much space is available, there is a limit to the number of files that can be stored.

*4When a microSD card is first inserted, it becomes the default save location. You can subsequently change the save location back to the system memory.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Ah, ok, that makes sense. But yes, unlike the PS5 or Xbox series, this is just a micro SD card, and the data transfer rate is not a big deal (you can in fact use cheaper cards because of this). So games can be played from the SD card. And yes, save data and certain other game data is stored only on the internal space so make sure you move as much as possible onto your SD card.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Any good, mature rated FPSs I’m not seeing? This system is very platform heavy I’ve been noticing.

And, how exactly does this voucher thing work?

I've literally spelled it out twice. And you still impulsively went and bought all the games immediately anyways.

Did you read what I wrote? Do you have a specific question?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I'm returning most my physical games and getting the digital because they are cheaper with the vouchers and the fact, I have some credit coming to the max, I believe, $250.

Kind of off topic, but OldBoy, are you retired?

(… trying to figure out how you have the time to play all of these.)

Good. That's what I was telling you. Odyssey is gonna be $30 for BF though.

If you're a Costco member save another 10%.
Also you get 5% back from the eShop when you buy there, so you get $5 in credit with two vouchers

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Glad to help you out OldBoy. I hate to tell you but you picked the worst time to get in to the Switch. Some great deals have just started for it.

There’s a Switch bundle with MK8 and Nintendo Online for $225 and the OLED model is $275. Don’t forget the pro controller is $50 as is extra joycon. And all the games I listed. If you do the voucher make sure you don’t buy a game that’s on sale right now.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Does anyone know if you submit your joycon for drift repair will they will fix anything else?

just got Mario Party and the kids wanted to play it. So for this version of the game they make you play with the joycon? That sucks. Anyways come to find out a pair of my joycon the top two buttons don’t work. I never play with just the joycon so didn’t notice it. The rest of the controller works just fine just the light indicating it’s connected and the hidden L and R buttons. So I’m wondering if they’ll fix it when they fix stick drift.

If not maybe I’ll pick up the joycon that are on sale for $50….but I really don’t want to this late in the switch’s life.

The top buttons and lights are connected by a ribbon that can go bad or get unseated... if they actually fix your controller what they'll do is replace the sticks, but they won't check to see if anything else is broken or fix that. If they have to completely replace the controller then obviously everything will get fixed.

You can also try fixing the top part yourself but I'd recommend getting the drift fixed first either way.

it's ok. I used credit and got in on a lot of digital game downloads by returning the unopened game cards and got the vouchers for online purchase. I preordered one and bought another with the vouchers (thanks to Decker) and saved $20, which is nice. I was able to return unopened since it was mostly 3rd party sellers on Amazon. I know I missed out on system reduction, but games I'm good now. thanks for thoughts.
