Control ran like absolute shit on a PS4 Pro I can't imagine how bad it runs streaming on a Switch.

All those games have a free trial so you can see how shitty they run, if you so desire.

That's entirely different than a game running on some other hardware that is then streamed to the Switch. It'll be entirely based on network connection, lag, etc... And nothing to do with the Switch hardware itself.

Also, I don't know specifics, but I imagine that the Switch streaming version would give some additional buffer time for button presses, etc. to account for the fact that it's streaming and not running locally. So it's very possible the Switch version can run better, (subjectively as always, depending on what each player is more sensitive to) than the performance the game had on PS4 Pro.

It's an entirely different type of implementation.

FWIW, I have not really done any game streaming except about an hour of Halo 1 a year or so ago. It was... Fine. But I like the concept as a way to try newer and bigger games out before I download them on XSX or PS5.

Not really relevant to the Switch games, but part of the appeal of the Xbox Game Pass and PS Now cloud streaming is that one can just "drop in" and start playing any given title available without having to download the game first.

? Is Gamepass a streaming service? I thought it was just a subscription service that gave you a license to download and play the games.

On mobile, it's streaming, and I think they're adding that streaming option to consoles as well, if they haven't already.

It's too bad about what I've heard about the new Super Monkey Ball game. I kind of wanted to pick it up when it's released (even though it'd be tough to afford at this point), because I LOVED the ones on the GameCube. I remember countless nights playing 4-player multiplayer with buddies or siblings and having a great time. From what I heard, the difficulty level really ramps up at some point, which dissuades me, as there were several times in the GameCube versions where I found the difficulty challenging. The fact that it's been ramped up even further? That's a non-selling point for me...I'll stick to keep playing Animal Crossing, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and probably a bunch more Skyrim...those are kind of my go-to games at the moment...Surprised I don't play more Smash Bros. but in Adventure Mode I still get frustrated by the restraints they put on certain levels, and usually play for maybe a half-hour or so and then just call it a day...Unlocking these Spirits can be fun, but I find it gets to be too much at times, as there's so friggin' many of them...

My son decided after he b-day cash haul he wants a Switch. I told him his timing was terrible as the preorder for the OLED are gone and might not be any available for a while. He didn't know about the OLED version so he doesn't know if he wants to wait or not. I told him for $50 more the bigger/better screen would be worth it, but he can be impatient.

Besides a memory card is there any other must have accessories for the Switch?

I definitely agree with Maxflier about getting a Pro controller.

A decent carrying case would be a good idea as well. I am personally not in the screen protector camp (although mine's docked 99% of the time, so I don't have much to worry about), but one of those might be worth researching if that's a concern.

If he's going to be playing it in handheld mode at all I'd highly recommend this grip. Makes it feel like playing with a pro controller and gives the switch some extra support. I'd recommend the bundle with the slim case since you can't really find a case that would fit it with the grip otherwise.

As an alternative to the pro controller I really like the 8bitdo controllers.

Death's Gambit (including new expansions) is finally out on the Switch today.
It's a great looking 2D pixel-art action/platformer "metroidvania" type game.
It does borrow a lot from the Souls games, but then it's a 2D action game - it can't reinvent the wheel.
Highly recommended!

Yeah, looks like 2D Dark Souls basically. Not sure how I have slept on this game for so long, but I will probably grab it on Playstation since it is currently on sale.

Looks like a faster paced Salt & Sanctuary.

Looks like another game that will have me screaming in frustration that my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be.

On a side note, my son has taken an interest in Cuphead, and since I've been super busy at work he's had to just keep trying the fights over and over. I still usually have to come in and try them but it's honestly pretty cool to me that he has memorized all the patterns (through trial and error) and can tell me what I'm supposed to do, even if he can't quite do it himself yet. Maybe I'll get him into Megaman or something to really fuel his platforming rage.

Played some of Death's Gambit today on Playstation just to get a taste and really like what I have played so far. Gonna stop now and wait for the Afterlife update to hit Playstation.

That Satistyle looks awesome, but I think he is going for the OLED, and will have to wait for them to release an update model.

Anyone know why Diablo 3 cartridge is OOP? I see the digital is still available, but the disc is going for $100+.
