I can't seem to locate the thread about the new Animal Crossing game, so I will post this here. I am really excited for this game.

The Eshop's New Year Sale is live now. I think this is the only time of the year that the top first-party titles drop in price

So we happened to swing by a GameStop that was being closed down and they had marked everything down. Not sure why they wouldn't just transfer the stock to one of the dozens of other locations here in the Chicago suburbs, but good for us anyways.
We got the Spyro and Crash trilogies for the Xbox One half off, and then noticed they were selling Switch Lites for $140, so we picked up a third Switch for the household.
It's the one in Hoffman Estates at Roselle Road and Golf if you're in the CHI burbs.

I'm surprised they're clearancing switches, I thought usually the vendors themselves take back the old stock so it doesn't get devalued (I remember this happening when TRU went under)

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Just discovered another annoyance of getting a second Switch (Lite) for my son. Thought I was in the clear since we have a cartridge for Pokemon Shield instead of a digital copy. Now I find that this game does not support cloud saves so he can't play his game on this new system. I get why (trading Pokemon), but still.... lame.

Some games don't even let you move saves over, though, like I think Yugioh is like this. That is very rare, though. Games like Splatoon and Pokemon should allow account transfers.

It would be very cool to see an update for "Eternal Darkness."

I never played Super Mario Sunshine as I never owned a GameCube. I’d be very interested in it if it’s released.

Warioware and Mario Sunshine would be fantastic. I've been itching to play Sunshine again.

As much as I’d like to be optimistic, there is a real chance that Nintendo is just renewing these trademarks as part of their housekeeping. It’s possible that these are just defensive renewals to prevent these trademarks from lapsing.

I think with Super Mario Sunshine at least there have been rumblings of something happening for a while. Wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo does something with it. Gives people a “new” Mario game for Switch while they work on the sequel to Super Mario Odyssey.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'm biased against the "3D" Mario games to begin with (something about how they don't really fit the dynamic the original 3 games laid down) but for me Sunshine is a lesser Mario game even considering that. Something about having to aim the sprayer and your jumps at the same time just doesn't work with the characters.
My personal exception is stuff like Super Mario Land 3D (being able to see more of the stage at once helps) and things like Luigi's Mansion are enough of their own thing that I really enjoy them.

It's why Bethesda protested Mojang's trademark application for the word "Scrolls," since they then could've potentially claimed that "The Elder Scrolls" infringed on their trademark, since it included the trademarked term.
It's also why people got upset at King trying to trademark the word "Saga," since they potentially could've claimed infringement over any game using "Saga" in the name, like "The Banner Saga."

Looks like we’re getting a Special Edition Switch for Animal Crossing... available on 3/13.

That's an awesome looking Switch. I'd be all over it and replacing my launch one but I'll wait till after E3 and see if a "pro" version gets released.

Of course, just buy the AC one and they'll announce it right after, that's how this all works.
I don't think they announce much at E3 anyway, do they?

At least publicly they're saying no plans for a new model of the switch this year:

Nintendo usually has a big Direct during E3 so I would expect the same this year.

I don't think they would lie to their investors, so don't expect a new Switch this year.
I do love that Animal Crossing one, but I have already upgraded once to the new model.
I have been toying with the idea of a custom shell because a white Switch would be sexy as hell, but swapping the joycon shells seems to be a huge pain in the ass.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
That's in line with the other Animal Crossing games, but of course the only other portable version had saves tied to the cartridge. I wonder how it even works, like does it update the saves on all profiles or something? Or if the person who first started the island deleted their save are you screwed?
