Yeah, the essential nodes are the branches off of the normal path... they don't prevent you from progressing onto the next gauntlet but you won't win the top prizes without them.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
Second set of Essentials requires Blade too. The mission to unlock them was a complete bitch. Falcon, Black Panther and Ragnarok. The computer played them like they'd been injecting horse steroids directly into their junk.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
If Ragnarok and Venom played half as well in "real life" as the computer plays them (especially with the endless cascades that Rags green power always triggers), they'd actually be worth using.

Correct but half of it will be gone by then. The essential nodes are optional paths for the final rewards. You should at least do the main lines.

Nah (that was the joke
), we almost always fall short on PVE and I don't know why. Half the members don't even talk in chat to debate trying for top 100 there.

I think I'm a slacker when it comes to PVE but I still wind up getting enough points to be in the upper half of the alliance. It really helps now that I have Steve Rogers just about maxed, he's a beast in PVE.
Got my 10 pack. Got a unusable Steve Rogers, useable Sentry and She-Hulk, and then like 6 fucking Hawkeyes. Whatever, I didn't expect anything out of it anyway.

Finished the second gauntlet this morning for the final cover I needed for Daken, so he's now joined Cap, Hood, Wolverine & Thor as a maxed 3* character for me. I finally feel like I've got a line-up that'll let me do well in just about any PVP, but damn does the PVE stuff get brutal once you've maxed some 3*s. Those Hulk nodes at the end of the second gauntlet were awful and each took 3-4 attempts using boosts.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
god damn blade essentials! Does anyone know if you can read the 3* captain marvel cover by completing just the non-essential nodes in the 3rd part of the gauntlet?
beast PvP freaked out on me this morning and my 2* thor opponent repeated Call the Storm over and over until my team was dead and then once more on the corpses.

You should be able to get CM from non-essential nodes in the 3rd part. I got her about halfway through, but I did the first 3 essential Blade nodes.
I'm debating stopping now. While I could always use 2,000 ISO and 50 HP, I'm not sure it's worth it (next is Sentry, BP, CMags all at level 235) for a blue BP cover. That would be my 13th, but I need two more black covers for him anyway.

Yeah, Blue for Panther sucks (especially compared to his other powers). I'm surprised it's been the consistent "reward" for the Gauntlet.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
Gave up on the Gauntlet and focused on PvP last couple days instead. I got screwed on the Real McCoy event. I hadn't seen a single full 166 team the whole time and was sitting pretty at 73rd. Last ten minutes I went to get another 50 points just to be safe like I always do. Six guys out of nowhere pulled a train on me and bumped me down to 112th. Pissed me off, first time that"s happened.
Time for my 4000 point heroic 10 Pack!
2* Storm green useless
3* Captain Marvel red!
2* Magneto purple useless
2* Wolverine yellow useless
2* Human Torch black useless
2* Wolverine yellow useless
2* Magneto blue useless
2* Moonstone red useless
2* Hawkeye red used
4* Invisible Woman blue!
Not nearly as good as last time but I did bag a 3 and 4 that I needed.

In case you hadn't heard yet, this is coming with the update tomorrow: http://www.d3pforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18406
Also, don't hold your breath for any refunds in the new market:

It costs a decent amount of Hero Points per slot when you get up there in members and the methods for paying is a bit odd (the common practice of slot trading).
Overall, we look at Alliances as something that everyone should be able to get involved in and want to encourage players to seek out like-minded players in the Alliance system.
To that end, we have decided that we're going to set all Alliances to the maximum of 20 slots. This means that any Alliance, newly-formed Public ones, or long time Private 'You must be this tall' Alliances are on the same playing field in regards to membership capabilities. Which of course, translates to increased social opportunities, Team-Up sharing, and competition for those high end rewards. Those loosely-formed public Alliances probably won't be able to take on the vaunted likes of the X-Men, Immortal Rage, 5DV and the like, but now those same Alliances will give players a feel for what an Alliance can really be like instead of being only a shadow of what a functional 20-person one can achieve."

We do feel though, that players who spent Hero Points in the past to expand their Alliances have reaped substantial benefits for doing so (increased Iso, covers, rewards, etc.) that compensate for the Hero Points spent to expand.
Thanks for your understanding as we move forward with the Alliance expansion.

That level turns her into a monster on offense if you play her right (full purple and with other green generators like Hulk and Thor).

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
I've got her at 5,1,3 right now, plan to end her at 5,3,5 for just that reason. She is brutal fully greened. I can raise her to level 114 now I think but I'm not getting in a hurry yet. Seems like competition is getting tougher and I don't want to advance myself into a position where I'm fighting all 3* teams in PvP.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
Be careful, she's pretty awful on defense. She will be everyone's first target and she's super dumb at using purple without your guidance.
Great for PVE use, though.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign
Thanks for the tip. Also just bagged my 4th Psylock card from a Gauntlet token.
EDIT: Just got another Gauntlet token and I got a 3* Captain Marvel red, my 8th cover for her and 5th red. Awesome luck the last couple days!
