And what's the current best PC traditional turn-based RPG with latest graphics?

If I don't have an XBOX can I still buy the cross-buy games? Do they come with a console for G-d mode etc?

Thanks!
If you don't have an Xbox and buy the games on the Microsoft Store then you'll have a Xbox One copy waiting for you if you ever do. But it's only select titles like Forza Horizon 3, Forza 7, Gears of War 4, Cuphead, etc;

I liked the Divinity games and Torment: Tides of Numenera for recent old school CRPGs.

Best looking is probably Final Fantasy XV, if youre into the Japanese RPG style.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

But if I buy an XBOX Anywhere copy I can just play it on the PC without owning the XBOX? I know at first you could just stream and didn't know if there was any "activation" needed.

Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming!

Yes, but you have to buy a digital copy from the Microsoft Store to get the Xbox Play Anywhere feature.

Here's a list of games with Xbox Play Anywhere:

That depends entirely on the game.

Game Streaming was an entirely different feature, for streaming Xbox One games to a PC.

With Xbox Play Anywhere, you're instead getting a license to both the PC and Xbox One versions of a game, linked to the same Microsoft account.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

So I wanted to download the Final Fantasy XV demo to test it out on this laptop, but seriously, why the hell is it 20gb? That's 7gb larger than Breath of the Wild in its entirety.

Then again, I hear the 4k install is 140gb+.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Oh this is pretty nice, EA's Origin Access subscription service is now allowing other publishers.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/8/17...d-2-publishers

EA has announced that it's opening up its Origin Access PC gaming subscription service to other publishers, with games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and other publishers set to join the service.

First up are a bunch of Batman games from Warner Bros., including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins, LEGO Batman, LEGO Batman 2, and LEGO Batman 3 that all available now for subscribers. Other games will be added soon, including The Witness, Out of the Park Baseball 19, Lost Castle, Bulletstorm – Lite, and Wasteland 2.
It would be pretty cool if EA Access on Xbox ever does something similar, but a nice way for PC Gamers to play some extra games.

I always forget that you can even get non-EA games from Origin. Good news though, especially for those who don't have large game collections on Steam.

Hey this is great. The only two games I'd want I just paid a combined $35 for within the last month or two. See you in May, I guess!

Re: PC Gaming Thread

This is my first time playing one of these games so I'm not sure how it stacks up against other ones in the genre, but Battletech is really really good.

Scratches that itch for a nice, slow paced game coming off of God of War.

I don't imagine most people here don't know of the guy, but John Bain (aka: Total Biscuit, he did a lot of PC gameplay/criticism videos) died today. Dude had been fighting cancer for a few years. He was only 33. I wasn't a fan, but I think he'd been brought up here before. Fuck cancer, man. RIP.

Valve is ending support for Steam on Windows XP and Vista
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...1558-AFCM-4577

Starting on January 1 2019, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems. This means that after that date the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows. In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.
The newest features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which no longer functions on older versions of Windows. In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 7 and above.
For the remainder of 2018 Steam will continue to run and to launch games on Windows XP and Windows Vista, but other functionality in Steam will be somewhat limited. For example, new features such as the new Steam Chat will not be available. We encourage all users on these operating systems to upgrade to newer versions of Windows in order to have ongoing access to the latest features of Steam, and to ensure future access to all games and other Steam content.

When they pull support from Windows 7 is when we'll hear an uproar. A lot of people hate Windows 8/10 and are sticking with 7.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

I don't do a lot of PC Gaming... none in years, actually. But I have been toying with the idea of getting into VR (Rift or Oculus) and was wondering if anyone can recommend a brand or even a specific laptop that'd get the job done for daily use as well as the occasional VR thing?

Oculus has a list of "Oculus Ready PCs" for both desktop and laptop:
https://www.oculus.com/rift/oculus-ready-pcs/

And I think you meant Vive, which has its own lists of "Vive Ready" PCs:
https://www.vive.com/us/ready/

However, the PC VR games takes a lot of graphics horsepower, typically more than all but the most expensive gaming laptops can deliver.

You might be better off with the Oculus Go or PSVR.

Another option might be to get a laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 port and plug in an external GPU when you want to use VR. This is the direction Apple is going with VR on Macs, but there's not many (any?) games available yet.
https://www.imore.com/hands-apple-vr-dev-kit
https://www.macworld.co.uk/feature/m...u-mac-3673105/

This is also an option for some Windows laptops, but I can't find a good central source listing compatible laptops and results.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7577 that I bought for about $800. I dislike the way the keyboard looks on it (red key labels / red trim on the WSAD keys) but otherwise it's a very solid laptop. I eventually added 8gb of RAM to it (16gb total - Forza Horizon 3 was choppy with 8gb), and a 2nd HDD.

Works great with my Rift so far as well (I've only had it for a few days and only own a couple titles, but not so much as a hiccup yet).

I actually use it as a travel game console as well (HDMI out + Xbox One or PS4 controller. ), and do some daily work on it, really happy with the purchase. It is a little large, but nothing ridiculous -- but much larger than say a Gigabyte Aero or Razer Blade.

Re: PC Gaming Thread

Thank you guys... good advice to digest. Was leaning towards a laptop so the wife could use the machine somewhere other than our office. And if I had to get a laptop, I'd like it to do more than surf & Excel.

Steam summer sale started yesterday. I picked up Fallout 4 and The Forest. I'm going to try to play a game that isnt PUBG or Overwatch, haha.
