If you have it set to be be always on (for Kinect voice commands, mostly), the console will do system updates and game/app patches on its own. The only indicator is a little asterix over the game's icon in "My Games & Apps" but I've noticed that some updates still have to be manually verified. I'm assuming that's because they fall over a certain threshold... I wouldn't want a 10GB update to get downloaded unless I approve it first, personally. Anything below that is debatable.

I just don't wanna start up a game only to find out I'll have to spend half the day downloading 100 GB worth of updates I would prefer to get that out of the way now so when I'm ready to play I can just jump right in.

I don't use standby for either console. Something about having the console running constantly (even if it's low power mode) doesn't sit right with me. But I do like how the PS4 automatically pushes any updates to any of the games you have installed right after you boot up the system.

Nice! Now where the hell is Spotify?
edit: I'd also love to see Vudu updated to match the style of all the other Vudu apps out there. The XO version is pretty terrible.

For the record, the update also increased the game's resolution from 720p to 900p and added an (optional) motion blur effect.

I don't think any of the "all you can stream" apps are going multiplatform, both MS and Sony have their own their pushing.

I'm not sure what's more sad. The fact that I finished Crimson Dragon or that I played through the entire game before Halo finished installing.

Neither. I installed Halo:MCC and have been remarkably bored by it, Crimson Dragon does look terrible though.

All you guys complaining about Crimson Dragon must not have played Strike Suit Zero. Makes Crimson Dragon look like a work of art.

Anyone know if a Windows phone offers any cool Xbox One or 360 interaction or features? Amazon has a no contract windows 8.1 phone as a $20 deal of the day, and I'm tempted.

no, but i'd say a better bet is to use that as a portable mp3 player. put it on airplane mode, and i'd bet that thing probably gets a couple of days battery life.

I say go for it. The only 360 and XO integration is in the Smartglass apps, which tend to get features added more than the Android or iOS equivalents.
Oh, and WP8 games labeled as "Xbox" games count towards your gamerscore, if that matters to you.

Yeah, I'm thinking it as an extra device for all my music and audiobooks; my phone is always full. Then there may be occasional windows exclusive apps or freebies. Last week Microsoft gave away hundreds of albums to windows 8 owners, this would have qualified.
I hear people use them as remotes too.

How did I miss that giveaway?...

There are a number of people who do exactly that, using it as an MP3 player.

You of all people missed it? Sorry. Must have been discussed here, since I rarely go anywhere else in the Internet, maybe our frequently updated free music thread.
