http://www.polygon.com/2014/12/16/74...arcadia-report
Microsoft is building a cloud-based service codenamed "Arcadia" to stream apps and video games, reports ZDNet.
Arcadia is based on Microsoft's cloud computing infrastructure, Azure, and is being developed by a streaming technology team within the company's Operating Systems Group, according to ZDNet. The service is said to replace "Rio," the codename for the game-streaming technology that Microsoft demonstrated during an internal company meeting last September.
The Verge reported at the time that the Rio demo streamed Halo 4 to a Windows Phone device with an Xbox 360 controller attached, and to a low-end computer running Windows. Microsoft had said previously that it was looking into using Azure-based technology to provide backward compatibility on Xbox One, similar to the way Sony's Gaikai-based PlayStation Now works.
Citing an anonymous source, ZDNet reports that Microsoft considered using Arcadia to stream apps as well. A potential use case would give Windows and Windows Phone users the ability to run Android apps and games via streaming, a possibility Microsoft's Operating Systems Group had been exploring for some time. But Microsoft has shelved that idea for now, according to ZDNet.

Thanks for the info. Does it take time for Xbox Live to know you are on the Xbox One now? I'm asking this because when I sent my friend request off, I still get this message. Pending Requests on Xbox 360 (16) All of these guys have moved on from the 360 to X1 so I'm wondering if they will ever see my friend request? It's been that way since Saturday.
If you use your XO to request the friendship of another XO owner, it should technically go smoothly.
If you use the website or your 360 to send the request, it might not show up on their XO. I randomly logged into my 360 one day and found that there were a couple friend requests pending that did NOT show up on my XO at all.

Will Arcadia be in the Cloud?
I'm just confirming Skies of Arcadia 2 somehow, I know the logic is there.

I've seen a few issues with this kind of thing.

Just tried to load up Killer Instinct to get some of those Christmas freebies for Ultra owners. Discovered that I first have to download an 11 GB patch! For Killer Instinct! The patches this generation are just brutal.

They basically recompiled the entire game's code with today's update to help with load times and other things. We have to redownload the entire game again, so that's why it's so large.

I had my Xbox One on for 5 hours and I never saw an alert or notification that Unity was downloading the patch. Is there a setting to have the system auto update software?

I didn't realize (or had forgotten) that Smite was coming to the XBox. I wonder how MOBA's will do on consoles this generation, as we've seen F2P shooters finally start hitting consoles after a few years head start on PC.

The XO doesn't automatically download patches. Best as I can figure, it doesn't do background downloads either. When you're looking at nearly 60 GB for two games, that's super-frustrating.
