Come on, Groucho - I wasn't done bitching about how Amazon screwed me out of a Day-One console.

Incidentally, I'm not the only one that this happened to...there are some people on the threads over at Amazon complaining. One guy ordered on JUNE 10th and didn't get his Day-One version - I'd be really ticked if I had ordered that early and missed out. I'm a little more forgiving since they're still shipping my standard version today (at $50 off) and I hadn't prebooked until this past week.

ANYWAY - one question for those who have their X-Box One already set up: I know you can plug your cable box into this thing, and I also know you can't program/watch DVR recordings through the Xbox menus...however, can you switch back to your cable box menu within Xbox to record and watch DVR stuff - or would you have to hook your cable box back to normal every time you wanted to record/watch something on your DVR? Thanks in advance.

yeah, i'd be pissed either way. that other guy has a more legitimate beef. and the screwed it up further by not letting people know in time. i'd complain a bit more to try to get more out of them. i love amazon and their customer service, but when they fuck up, they need to compensate.

I'm trying to see if I can get a year of PRIME thrown on top...$50 is nice, but I live in a sales-tax state, so I'm already paying about $30 in sales tax anyway (a little less after the $50 is taken off). If I can't get that, maybe they'll throw in an Xbox Live 12-month card or something.

I DID let Xbox know about it, even though they had very little to do with the problem (unless, of course, they didn't deliver as many consoles as they promised Amazon they would get). Still, I can't imagine they'd be happy that a major retailer let this happen - although the number of people affected seems relatively small so far (looks like I'm the only one HERE that this happened to, and there's only a couple of posts on Amazon about it).

Quick question for those that got there system already. Is the MAC address listed on the box or someone on the XB1 itself? Most likely not.. but figured I'd ask. I use MAC filtering on my router, and usually these devices try to connect without telling you the MAC address and then I have to cancel it, get the MAC and then restart the setup process.

i didn't realize that UPS My Choice actually gives you an estimate for their delivery. Just saw mine is from 1:15 - 5:15 PM.

The estimates have been wrong a lot lately. I ordered a Projector earlier this week, it said "Will arrive between 3 and 6", it was dropped off at 11:00 AM in the rain on my doorstep.

So some folks are saying that cross game party chat isn't available. Can anyone that has their hands on the system confirm or deny? Seems odd and more like they just haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Mine says "By end of day." UPS usually hits my house between 7-8pm. Though this week I had a package and UPS arrived around 6. I'm hoping that it doesn't try to deliver earlier before I get home. I want to avoid 1) missing the delivery attempt and getting a slip and not able to pick it up until Monday or 2) the package just being left on my porch and stolen because its going to be a big box and people will figure what it is based on the fact that today is XB1 release day. Packages through UPS from Amazon haven't required a signature before, but they have only been smaller items. I hope that this one requires a signature if I'm not at home as I don't want to chance it being stolen from my porch while I'm at work.

I am home all day outside of running 2 quick errands. I am going to go do those early on the chance I get early delivery. My dead rising 3 is coming via local courier so that should show up way before my console. Such a cock tease.

If you're getting a launch XB1 then you're better off with the day-one console. I know the console is same, but having day-one related achievements is a special perk (not to mention you're not paying anything extra).

Sorry to hear about people getting shafted on the Day One versions and getting the Standard one as well. I'm amazed that Amazon goofed like that. It's not like the Day One was more expensive and they were going to make more cash on those versions. Very odd indeed.

Went to Wal-Mart to pick up Zoo Tycoon since it's exclusive there. It's one of the games on sale for $49 (today only I think), so go grab it if it's on your list.

I'm in no rush to buy. I'll wait it out for a now and by the time I jump aboard there'll be more/better games available and it may even be a bit cheaper by then too.

In the meantime, I'll follow this thread to get impressions, etc.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

To answer the question, it doesn't look like a way for me to record or watch prerecorded shows through the xbox one directly. I have to preprogram my dvr in advance through my directv app I guess, which is a pain, but I remember reading about this being an issue months ago, so I guess we were warned. Maybe this will be fixed in the future.

I'm still trying to get used to the set up. The tutorial is kind of a joke. It's a lot of trial and error at this point. I have a cold, so it's been a strain to get the voice commands to work. I still haven't found basic stuff like system settings, strangely enough.

Even if their inventory tracking is solid there's no guarantee that they aren't gonna accidentally damage/destroy a limited item or that one of their employees isn't gonna steal it or even misplace it.

A local area Walmart had all their available Xbox One titles for $49 each. Every title. Best Buy price matched me on 4 out of my 5 titles (Just Dance was already around $49). Got $40 in credit back. Not bad when I've made such a hefty investment in new technology already. Now I need to trade in some old games to go towards Forza 5, easily the highest rated title thus far.

I know I read they were having problems with it before because they had to rewrite it for the One and it is different than the 360
