Maybe this needs to be in a wikipost:
Xbox One
- games as they are today. Don't expect any changes. Blu-ray playback.
Xbox One S
- same as above, with the inclusion of HDR in games if and only if the developers include it and if your 4K TV supports it.
- 4K video streaming and 4K Blu-ray playback, including HDR if and only if the 4K TV supports it.
Xbox One Scorpio - Three gaming scenarios:
A) 4K on a 4K TV with decent/solid performance, or
B) 4K down-converted to HD on a HDTV with otherwise identical performance as A.
C) HD with improved performance, on a 4K TV or HDTV, but only if the developers make this an option in the game.
Regardless of A, B, and C:
- HDR in games if and only if the developers include it and your 4K TV supports it.
- 4K video streaming and 4K Blu-ray playback, including HDR if and only if the 4K TV supports it.

What do you mean IR controller? I know there's a new version of the controller with increased range, but it isn't IR based and it works with the current Xbox One as well.

The "S" controller is both Xbox and Bluetooth so it will work.
They stated everything that works with the One will work with the S and Scorpio - accessories included.

Yeah, the IR is to replace one bit of functionality of the Kinect.
All controllers are meant to work with all of the consoles.
The new controllers have added Bluetooth (but not removed anything from the older controllers), which I imagine is meant for connecting to PCs, phones, etc.
To be clear, any info I have seen is only based on what they've announced and said in discussions, but based on all that, I'm confident that your existing controllers will work just fine.

I figured the Bluetooth was for headsets.

Definitely! I always forget about headsets.

Pretty sure the XBox One controllers by default just use their own wireless protocol. The new S ones can also connect to PC's via Bluetooth.

Jeez, I'm going to need to connect another 4TB drive to my One soon.

FYI
Since the Xbox One S does not have the special Kinect only connection, they will have an adapter to connect it to the USB 3 port.
Might be good news for those that were looking for an extension cable.

Well since the only difference I could tell with the new controller was Bluetooth (which I don't need) I figured I'd go ahead and finally get an Elite controller. Got an "Open Box" one from Best Buy on eBay that actually looks to be new for $119.99. Haven't opened it up yet, but looking forward to checking it out later tonight. I know some of you really like it. I still think it's too expensive, but figured that was a good enough deal to check it out.
At least it's not $200 like the upcoming Gears 4 Elite.

You should be aware that Microsoft's warranty for the Elite controller is only for 3 months. Perhaps you should buy a third party warranty as well.

I don't Best Buy is offering an extended warranty on their eBay items and I don't think MS would honor it anyways since it was purchased as "Open Box".

I read some stories about unlucky owners whose new controllers broke or malfunctioned in some way after the 3 months were up. That's why I brought it up.

If you are looking to pick up some cheap charging kits for your controller, check out Walmart. I found two of the official MS ones for $6 each. Looks like they are starting to clearance out some gaming accessories. They also had some of the Disney Infinity and Skylander starter bundles for $10.

Thanks for the heads up. Wal-Mart is notoriously YMMV on their clearance deals, but I will definitely keep an eye out.

a better controller. more comfortable to the touch, better reactivity and sensitivity than the regular controllers. plus, it is customizable to fit your gaming style...

While I don't see myself ever buying an Elite controller myself, I think about it in terms of other peripherals - people spend more money on better headsets, a better steering wheel for driving fans, a better fight stick for fighting game fans... i've spent over $100 on a keyboard and another $60 on a mouse for my PC. Seems to make sense to me.

I haven't bought a fancy controller, but it is your main interface with the game so I don't have a problem with paying for it if it makes gaming more fun.

The Elite is night and day compared to a standard controller. When my batteries were down on my elite, I grabbed a standard and could barely play The Division with any accuracy... it's hard to explain, but the difference is real.

I am thinking of getting the xbox one S...because I want 4k Blu-ray and streaming from my game system...and besides what some crazy guy on neogaf thinks, I currently have 4k tv that is being wasted...
So my question is besides the bigger hard drive is there any other difference between the $300 model that will come out maybe around Christmas or the 2tb model that launches in August for 400 bucks? I honestly don't see the need to buy the 2tb model..
