Finished Never Alone. For $10 it wasn't that bad; the gameplay is pretty simple and the controls are very loose and annoying at times, but the artwork and story telling were very well done and I actually enjoyed watching the cultural insights. I missed 2 of them though, need to go back and find them.

Has anyone here purchased EA Access? Do you feel it's worth the 30 bucks a year? I have been thinking about getting it and was wondering what you guys thought about it?

I think it's a good deal. EA Access.
Specially if you don't have any of the free games.
I also like the ability to play new games for 6 hours or so. You have access to the full game. That's how I tried Dragon Age, the new game, and really liked.
Just check the EA catalog, if you are interested in at least 3 games that they may release in a year, that's a great deal.

For $30/year it's a pretty good deal. Just stop buying EA games to make it worthwhile.

So if I understand EA Access correctly:
-There are a handful of newish games that you can play as much as you want.
-You get 10% off EA digital purchases (and on their ea.com/eaaccess site they list as examples some of the ones that are free--wut)
-You can try out certain games for a limited time before their release date, like Dragon Age. Can you STILL play Dragon Age, or is that only before their release dates?
Basically, it sounds interesting. The free "vault" games I would probably try out, but aren't critical purchases for me. However, I was thinking of blind-buying Dragon Age but was a little wary because I don't play a lot of RPGs. A trial period would be ideal.

Well, it's technically a handful, but it's also basically every current gen EA release. They just don't release many games anymore.
And you get full game trials before release. Just before release.

New achievements have been added to Sunset Overdrive, which I believe is the first case of them adding achievements to a game without content attached to them. This was something they touted before launch.

Thanks! So theoretically all their current-gen games would get into the vault eventually?

I'd say the only drawback about the "timed trial" thing is that you really have to download the entire game in order to get the most out of the 6-hour trial period. That can be up to 50GB depending on the game. A bunch of games will let you start playing before the download is complete, but you'll hit some sort of roadblock that won't let you progress until the game is done downloading. That can be quite a hit on your monthly bandwidth, so beware.
Otherwise, I'm happy with EA Access.

Yeah, you've got it figured out.

Hmm, it appears that I have to buy the app by credit card rather than using Xbox credits, which I guess makes sense since it auto-renews. I think I'm probably going to do this, but since I'm not a heavy gamer, I might wait till something I'm DYING to play hits the vault, or enters the pre-release trial phase. Heck, it might take me months to get through the two Assassin's Creed games that came with my console.

The 6 hour trials have their advantage too. At least for me.
For Dragon Age, I downloaded the game. I played for 2 hours and thought it was great. Then I didn't play again for a month or so. I tried and yes, it still worked. So basically if you start the game during the trial period you can consume the 6 hours whenever. Or for some time. I haven't checked the details. I still haven't completed the 6 hours so I will check again this week.

No sorry. It's 6 hours of game play... well actually just running the game. So you can play 1 hour now, 2 hours the next day, 1 the next, etc. until you reach 6 hours total that the game has been "on" but not necessarily "active gameplay" so to speak. So if you turn on the game, but leave it on the menu for 5 hours straight, that will take away from your total time remaining. I hope that makes sense. You definitely DON'T have to play all 6 hours at once.

If you wait long enough, eventually Gamestop is supposed to sell EA Access subscription cards.

A look at some upcoming XBox releases these first few months - Ori, State of Decay, and ScreamRide. ScreamRide looks like it might scratch that RollerCoaster Tycoon itch afterall...

Shouldn't the thread title be updated again to reflect the ever evolving price change?

In the Windows 10 event today, looks like there's cross platform play between XBox One and Windows 10. They demo'd Fable Legends.
Also - "With Windows 10 we will enable streaming of Xbox One games to any Windows 10 PC or tablet in your home later this year."
