Warframe Dev Set to Be Acquired by MMO Company Perfect World and a Chicken Meat Supplier

Warframe developer Digital Extremes is set to be acquired by massively multiplayer online games company Perfect World and Sumpo, a chicken meat products supplier.

According to a document from Sumpo, the companies entered a "non-binding term sheet" on June 30, 2014, and are now "conducting due diligence investigations over the affairs of Digital Extremes." Basically, Sumpo and Perfect World are finalizing the deal and Digital Extremes agreed not to solicit other offers in the meantime.

Some Warframe players are already objecting to the acquisition, fearing that Perfect World's involvement will have a negative impact on how the game is monetized. Users on the /r/Warframe subreddit are trying to organize a temporary boycott of the game, and at the time of writing a Change.org petition had already gathered 4,700 signatures urging Digital Extremes not to sell to Perfect World.

"You may have read something about the business development side of Digital Extremes and it may have you concerned," Digital Extremes Video Game Director Steve Sinclair said on the game's forums. "For legal reasons, we can't disclose specifics but if you know the history of Warframe you'd know that we are intent on having Warframe's design remain in the hands of Digital Extremes. Yes, opportunities will arise for us but the game itself is and will remain a labor of love."

At this point, Warframe is a game where I pop in when there's something new or when friends are online. I'd hate to see drastic changes to the monetization model, but I've certainly gotten plenty of mileage out of the game considering the very limited money I put in.

Hope nothing happens anytime soon. My current 360 XBL friend should have her PS4 up and running this weekend and Warframe is first on the agenda. I think I put in close to $30-$35 but it was well worth it and then more. I need to check some official Warframe Forums and get the finer details of this on the pros & cons.

No, No...not yet. Hopefully it'll be a Warframe Weekend for me and Kanjji who will have her PS4 up and running by Friday...Saturday the latest. I'm actually looking forward o getting back till the Destiny Beta and then The Last of Us end of the month...Diablo III is pissing us both off.

The farm train is already rolling. Got 2 parts last night...blueprint and chassis, I think.

Just started playing today pretty fun game for free.

Saw your PSN note Kenny. The Specters are basically copies you make of your warframe that you can summon to fight alongside you. It's kind of neat, but I've only used one, because they're kind of expensive to build.

Hydroid is pretty cool. Plays and is built a little like Frost, but not as good IMO.

They nerfed Nova pretty badly. She's still good but not as devastating as she used to be.

Loki Prime is under construction. Took a while to get the chassis.

Sad to hear about Nova but looking back on how much she was used and what she could do we all sort of knew something would be coming...same as Frost.I was so tempted to play...just been iching to get in again. When I do may need a little "schooling"...seriously I've forgot a lot of the stuff and where to go. How hard is it to get the Hydroid Parts....Void or special Boss?

Hydroid parts come from the new version of Vay Hek, which is actually a pretty fun boss fight. You have to farm parts for keys to fight him or freeload off the recruiting channel. Hydroid has been out so long that I'm not sure how many people are actively farming for him, so we might have to farm up the keys, but no worries. It's a cool process.

So you dropped out just after getting Zephyr right? So you're missing Rhino Prime, Loki Prime, Hydroid, Boltor Prime, Brakk, and several other awesome weapons. You also haven't seen "Melee 2.0", the new tilesets or what seems to me like a ton of optimization to frame rates and load times. Lots to do.

Frost isn't nerfed. He's actually better than he used to be IMO. Whatever marginal damage they did to Snow Globe is more than offset by the buff they gave to Avalanche.

Nova is nerfed pretty badly, but even after the nerf, she's still a top 5 frame IMO. She's not as powerful offensively, but her crowd control is actually better than it used to be. I've done a lot of experimenting with her build, and it's one of the tougher ones to balance because the reach of her Molecular Prime is based on duration (meters per second times more seconds), and it's tough to work in Narrow Minded because the range of your primed explosions is based on range. It also makes it hard to work in a Fleeting Expertise, which makes it impossible to work in Blind Rage. It's kind of a mess, but I've found a couple of variations that work for me and make her similar to her old self. It's just that instead of being an offensive beast, she's a really really good support frame. I also had to lose her third ability slot, so I alternate between Antimatter Drop and Wormhole depending on what I'm doing.

yep...been way, way behind and with Destiny beta next week...a lot to catch up on. Might be a 50/50 chance I'll be on tonight. Depends if Kanjji makes it or not. We're knocking out lose ends with Diablo III before the Reaper of Souls hits mid August. I'll have Warframe all next week, then the Destiny beta till end of the month which brings The Last of Us. Diablo comes in mid August for the 360 so I'll have Warframe, Last of Us and Diablo Reaper of Souls going till D-Day...September 9th. Which both me & Kanjji are taking off along with the 10th to play Destiny.

I need to aplogize for asking to "farm the parts" for Hydroid because since I didn't read the "how to" I assumed it was going to be another one of those..."run in defeat Boss, rinse, repeat" deals. I finally went to the wiki and saw it's a bit more involved than just defeating "A Boss"....like (24) Beacons of four types you need to even find Vay Hek. Another problem I have...I only have have five of the places unlocked on Ceres.

I did play for about 3hrs today....just trying to get back in the groove and figure out som of the "new stuff' like the Stance Mods....I picked up two today. And som places I went to have new tilelsets I've never been on and as usual got turned around and lost a few times. Played with a few different frames and felt good to get the Nova out a few times.....just some Alerts and random Defense.

It's no problem. For Hydroid, it's best to just look for "Vay Hek runs" on recruiting. You get in 5 or 6 of them, and you're in business. Honestly, I'd make Rhino Prime a priority over Hydroid. He's pretty awesome, and you probably have a lot of the keys you'd need to farm his parts. Loki Prime is solid too.

Nova and Frost will probably require you retooling their mods, as both (along with Trinity) have been tweaked. Frost is better than before. Nova isn't as good as before but is still solid with the right build. Trinity, I'm not sure, but it doesn't sound good.

Well tI was able to get some of the "parts" to find Vay Hek....in order I got 1, 2, 1 & 6 so far. Would've got more but two runs (Mobile Def) we failed and lost the parts. I found out I had to tweak my guns for one elemental since it mentions on the Prosecutor you cannot use combo elemental. I ended up using the Synapse and Bronko Prime...both turned out to work.

Yea...I wouldn't mind getting Loki and Rhino Prime...are they in the Void? I picked up about three keys today and still have quite a bit. Get Kanjji on (first getting her on period) and maybe we can hit it. I've got enough parts to build a few differnt Prime weapons, just not enough Orokin Cats without taking a hit (have 40)

Sounds like you're going the right way about getting the cypher parts, but I still wouldn't recommend doing it that way. It will be a much better use of your time to use recruiting, and like any boss, you get one of his parts per run, so you could get it in as few as 3 runs and probably not more than 6.

You'll want to start her Kanjii out on some lower level stuff and give her the 4 basic (IMO) mods: Streamline, Stretch, Continuity, Intensify. Maybe an Energy Siphon as well.

Actually, since you both need Rhino Prime, that might be the place to start. He's a perfect potato worthy starter frame, and his parts are pretty gettable, even at low level. The problem is that none of the actual starter frames are worthy of a potato now that there's a Loki Prime. I guess I'd get her a regular Rhino right out of the gate and just run him without a potato (very doable) until she gets Rhino Prime. A 37 point build on him would look like Rifle Amp, Redirection, Streamline, Intensify, Stomp, Iron Skin, and maybe a low level Stretch or Flow. You could use that build anywhere in the game, even at high level.

Actually, rethinking that, I'd just go for Rhino Prime as her starter frame.

Rhino Prime:

BP: T3E/T4E
Helmet: T1MD/T2MD
Chassis: T3S (20 minutes)
Systems: T1D (wave 15+)

There's nothing there that you and I couldn't pull her through, even with a potatoless Excalibur (which is who I'd probably pick these days). I'd start with the T1D and T1MD to level up her frame. Then on T3S, I'd host, and we'd just go to 20 minutes, and then I'd quit out if we don't get the chassis. Saves the key, and you guys don't lose XP. The chassis is the hardest part to get, just because the runs take 20 minutes. Then we'd wrap up with the T3Es.

Of course we'd still have to farm up the resources, but that's where I'd start.

It's too bad she couldn't get started last week. They gave out a shit ton of Reactors and Catalysts.

Oh...by the way, not sure about the "Wolf Clan" anymore. I pulled some chat on it and noticed several has stated they had left. Wasn't sure about yours or others on if it was worth it getting into one since I'll be tied up with various games starting with the beta, Last of us, Diablo and then Destiny. Haven't turned in resignation yet...just unsure at this moment.

Good night last night for kanjji and she sounded a bit more upbeat. There was an alert for a Orokin Catalyst BP doing a Mercury Mobile Defense that we did alone and she held her own. She couldn't believe she got 160 melee kills plus picked up a Morphics. Finished up most of Venus and got her started on Earth. Think she's excited about getting her Rhino tonight so can work on getting that leveled. She did some more "Fusion" which I think she's slowly understanding. The next stp will be understanding just what Mods actually do and help. Also on the Elemental Damage. I have sent her the link to the Warframe Wiki....

FWIW...she likes all the help but at the same time she likes to say...contribute or feel like she's actually doing something. I told her the character she has now is ok but with the Rhino...she can go far more places and do far more damage than now. Besides opening up more of the map I think she just needs to get more Mods since it sounds like her inventory is small and limited. Suggestions...Defense, Mobile Defense, Survival....we did do a Survival last night alone but with just us two really didn't pickup as much as I hoped. She like the Mobile Defense. What about for leveling and Mods...Derelict Void Defense?

Not sure when her Rhino will be ready...probably check in with her late this afternoon around 5-6 my time (Central). Crossing my fingers though...she said something about dropping by a Best Buy since they had some special Two Day Sale going on. I told her visually she is missing a lot of just how great games look on the PS4. So who knows...tonight might be a better one...

Well we've been looking for you and even kanjji was asking..."where's chess".

But over the last couple of days she's done pretty well. The Rhino got built ans she has him up to Level 14. We were able to get all the resources for the Orokin Catalyst and she has that cooking. She passed the Rank 2 Test so got her to get the Karak Rifle and that's cooking. We just went around and did a bunch of Defense and Mobile Defense random stuff mainly to level up the Rhino but also to get resources. I redid my Nekros to help Desecrate better and it worked; getting the resources for the Catalyst, Rifle and Nova which she has the parts cooking to. We knocked a bunch of other levels out on Earth. She just needs to get Mods, credits and resources. She won't be back till Thursday...

...I ended up and broke down finally throwing the Ortho Prime in. I also grabbed some pistol and Rifle Grenade Launcher out of the Dojo to build that. I've got a bunch of Fieldron to build for that new Sentinel as well...think it's the one you have.

Chess...I stuck around and got enough to build a second key last night. Also got an invite from the person earlier who invited us in and told him we're going to try again tonight. So hopefully we can get three runs in easy.

Shame but both of the parties who were looking last night dropped out before finishing. Even the one who said "level 6 and above only" you pointed out didn't finish it. On paper based on the characters we should've done it. All three were carrying Boltor Prime and I had a Soma. But I think two had Loki Prime loaded and have no clue as to why. That was three separate parties doing the run that didn't finish it.

Loki would be OK for that run, just because you could find a spot on the side and snipe but with Vay Hek disrupting randomly, I prefer Rhino.

I'll try to hop on a get a key built. Might be a little later.

Looks like the Devs aren't just sitting around; Update 14 is already in the works with a new Warframe...Mirage. Sounds like she's got a bit of surprises up her sleeve. "Slight of Hand" looks like it could be fun "Prism" is her go to dealing Radiation. Be interesting to see this with Nova, Vauban, Zephyr or even Hydroid.
