i was able to get my universal Rocketfish HS working via USB cable. I actually got this for the 360 but it's made to work with Xbox, PS3 and PC. I plugged it in, turned on the console and it saw the headset right away. It even reminded me about the voice control.

However for some reason hearing chat is not what I hoped for. Don't know if it's the headset but I've got the volume turned up on the headset controller and also on the console settings and it sounds like I have the volume at 50%. I'm getting in game sounds ok...just chat seems to be lower level. I tried doing a message and listening to the playback but I still cannot get it much louder.

I don't know if it matters of not but with the 360 I did have a separate cable that went from the small clip-on controller (has bass, volume, chat/game balance and SRS) to the hand controller. On the instructions for the PS3 all it shows is the USB to console. Just curious if others are having a volume issue.

K&A, I would think plugging it in only to USB (no second wire) would be the way to go. I don't think you'd get game sound that way, but at least you wouldn't be mixing outputs that may not be intended to mix.

FWIW, you sounded great to me last night.

I'm a mix of excited and scared for the set I ordered yesterday. In hindsight, I probably should have just gotten the WiiU set from Turtle Beach, because I at least had internet confirmation that they worked. But worst case, I guess I have a decent set of headphones for my phone for $30 shipped.

Go to Amazon, or anywhere really, and search for "micro-usb charger". There are a ton of options in the $2-$5 range made for cell phones or other micro-usb devices. You might even have one lying around and not know it.

Two most amazing things in that article :
1) The PSP previously held that record as the fastest selling console in the UK. Really????
2) Knack outsold Super Mario 3D World. Wow, folks in the UK must really hate Nintendo and the WiiU. Heck, the guy who wrote the article didn't even know what system it was on.

No one hates Nintendo and the WiiU. They just don't care.

This may be for the console "wars" thread but, these numbers are amazing. For both consoles in general. I know that our Nintendo friends expected lower numbers, ala WiiU, because tablets, smartphones, etc. And it seems that they were partially right.

Now we tablets and smartphones people are more used to spend $400-$500, almost every year, or at least every two years, so after almost 10 years without a new console, from Sony and Microsoft, they were really thirsty for these new products.

And as chess mentioned a long time ago, whoever manufactures more consoles is the one "winning" the console war, this holiday season.

I think both are already winners though.

I'll get a WiiU at some point, even if I'm really really averse to the tablet controller idea. It's basically the N64 all over again...a gimmicky, slightly outdated console that you buy cheap late in the generation for its 5-6 must play Nintendo exclusives and not much else.

I know it's not realistic, but I'd love to see them focus to handhelds and release their console software on Sony/MS consoles, because they can't compete directly. And they can only compete indirectly when they have something really innovative like the Wii.

I think Nintendo is capable of holding its own, and I don't think they necessarily have to run the same race as Sony and Microsoft. They just have this bizarre insistence on refusing to learn from their successes and refusing to learn from their failures. They need to be more willing to communicate and more willing to listen. The marketing strategy, if you can even call it that, behind the Wii U is a complete and total disaster, and anyone who was paying even a little bit of attention should've seen this coming.

My beef with the WiiU starts and ends with the controller.

If they'd released the console exactly as it is but with the "pro" controller instead of the tablet and $50-$100 cheaper and still backwards compatible with Wii games and accessories, I'd already have one.

Nintendo gets a pass on impressing me with tech, because their art design and game design always overcomes technical shortcomings.

It might be, but it sure doesn't look it. It looks big, uncomfortable and heavy (even though it's not really) and the screen resolution and brightness is crappy. Plus there's the whole "I didn't just buy a 65" HDTV so I can watch my game on a tiny, dull screen" thing to get over.
Mostly though, I still think most non-gaming parents think that the WiiU is just an upgraded Wii model. I said it at the time and I'll repeat it here : The name is fucking terrible. At very least they should have called it a Wii 2 -- I don't like that name either (it still brings to mind everything that was wrong with the Wii that left a bad taste in gamers' mouths), but at least it would be clear that this is a new, different console in a way that the name WiiU doesn't.

As a screen to play console games portably, the tablet isn't a bad idea. In that regard, and like Kinect, it would be a fine optional accessory. Hell, drop a DS/3DS cart slot in it, and call it the DS XXL.

But I don't want to play a console game on two screens at once because my eyes can't take in both at the same time, and if it's for menus/maps, I'd rather just pause/select into a menu screen on my TV. Like I said, if they had the existing product at $200-$250 with the pro-controller and with a different name as Decker rightly noted, I think it would sell quite well as "something different", as a second console and on the strength of first party games.

Perhaps an even bigger hurdle on the controller: Replacement cost. That doesn't look like a controller that I could pick up a couple of spares at the end of the generation for cheap (though it may turn out that way if it continues to tank).

I haven't played AC yet, but I have played Killzone. I then went back and finished up GTA 5 and Beyond: Two Souls. I've since ordered a few of the 360 games during the recent sales.

I would never have purchased the PS3/360 version of AC instead of the PS4 version. I would much rather have a PS4 version of Dark Souls 2. I will buy fewer titles for the older consoles, but I'm not close to abandoning them yet.

Buy the PS3 version for $30, then pay the $10 upgrade fee to PS4. Pretty good deal.

When you consider that a huge chunk of the population in the UK gets around on rail networks, and the tubes in London, it's not that surprising. The PSP was out before smartphones and it makes for an easy, portable time killer for commuters.
