re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I don't use mine as a Blu Ray player since the PS3 works so well in that regard, but just recently mine doesn't seem to recognize game discs when I insert them. I have to do a full reboot in order to play any other disc based game besides the one I was just playing. Was thinking about placing a service order myself -- I also have the extended warranty.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
So my PS4 no longer recognizes or reads when I put a Blu Ray in yet games run fine. Anybody have this issue? Were you able to correct it? Any advice is appreciated.
Thank God I bought the 3 year protection plan... even though when I try to place a service order, the online system doesn't recognize it.

If I go to standby while in a game (digital download) and then turn the system back on to watch a movie...I exit the game after it comes back up, put in a disc and the PS4 won't even read the disc. The disc symbol never even shows up in the ribbon. Have to turn off PS4 and turn back on for it to read the disc.

You guys who's PS4s aren't recognizing discs - when did you get your systems? Close to launch or a while after?

Launch for me as well. I contacted Support this morning and he recommended I go into Standby Mode and try to reconstruct the database... I'll try it. He also opened a repair ticket for me and sent a coffin out.
The shitty part of the process is that Sony is demanding a copy of my receipt... I don't know about you guys, but that type of stuff is long gone from my backlog of things I keep. Fortunately I bought mine from Amazon and was able to get a copy of my invoice.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I doubt it is something as simple as this, but I have noticed that if I turn on my ps4 by hitting the disc eject button and ejecting the disc, when it boots up and I put in the disc I want to play, the system does not recognize the new disc.
Anytime I want to change the disc that was left in the ps4 when it is powered down, I have to start the ps4 with the power button, wait until it has booted to the live screen and then change discs.

I really hope this isn't another "have-to-play-the-PS1-upside-down" problem that Sony never really acknowledges.

I don't recall if I sent them my receipt or not... But I'd guess that I did not. I figure my purchase of the warranty thru the PS Store along with my serial number should have sufficed. Either way they're handling this and I'm about to try out the trouble shooting measures the support guy recommended.

If I have to reboot every time I put a disc in the PS4, it is that kind of a problem -- not quite bad enough to send the console back and be PS4-less for a month, but not without frustrations either.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
Something just happened to my PS4 that's never happened before. I was downloading the NBA Live 16 demo and all of a sudden, the screen went black and the controller started flashing on and off. I couldn't get it to do anything.
Then, the console shut off and would not come back on. The controller was still flashing on and off. I tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in and still nothing. After a few more times of doing this, the PS4 came back on. I then quickly deleted the demo and as of now, it's working fine.
Any ideas on what may have happened? I'm screwed if it breaks down for good. I bought it at launch from GameStop and the warranty I bought from them is expired.

I think the PS4 has become self-aware and puked on the thought of you playing NBA Live.

I have two launch day DS4's which I cycle between. According to the Final Fantasy 14 client, I've put in 97 DAYS of playtime. The majority of that has been on PS4. Both DS4's work perfect and have had no issues with the analog sticks.

If anyone cares, I did try the Support Tech's recommendation to go into Safe Mode and rebuild my database. It did work... my PS4 is now reading BD again. So I'm not sure if that fixed the issue or if unplugging my console did it or what... either way, all is well for now.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
Having WiFi issues lately. Was trying to watch something on Netflix and picture was really bad.
Same with other apps.
Did a network test and my speeds were:
Down: 1.1 Mbps
Up: 1.8 Mbps
Decided to restart the PS4, just in case anything was stuck there. Another test and my speeds were:
Down: 72.9 Kbps
Up: 82.4 Kbps
WTF!!!
Turned on my X1 and did a network test. Speeds were:
Down: 4.13 Mbps
Up: 11.58 Mbps
Both consoles are in the same entertainment table. The X1 one shelf above the PS4. Both are at 76% Wifi power or whatever is called. Both are N, I guess both work at the 5 GHz band. My wife was streaming Showtime in her iPad, my teenage daughter was probably streaming something in her MacBook too. So maybe the 5 GHZ band was really saturated. Or is the X1 at the 2.4(?) GHZ band and the PS4 at the 5 GHZ band? I know the Apple devices are in the 5 GHZ band.
Anyways... any advice?
My plan right now, move the PS4 to the shelf above, to be next to the X1. I know... (It's an open entertainment shelf, glass, etc. )
Add an extender, although being at 76% that shouldn't be an issue.
Reboot router. Again. Reboot PS4. Again.
Get a new router.

As far as analog stick use, 5 minutes of the game Trials is about the equivalent of 20 hours of FF.
