So this is the "bash other consoles" thread again? Oh, it's Friday. Of course it is.

That pic IS hilarious by the way... and Yusuf... oh goodness...

That is really funny actually. I love most of the Forza 5 gameplay, but the crowds look awful.

The Japanese crowd really hates or at least ignores MS consoles. Always have. Never really understood it. From what I understand they don't really like western style FPS and TPS. You'd think Fable would appeal to them though.
I wonder how well Destiny will sell there.

Of course not. You'd see the humor in it. There are just a couple of guys who are really sensitive about their consoles and like to complain, for whatever reason.

But technically that doesn't belong in this thread.
Eh. We were talking about NPDs, which naturally transitioned to the Xbone Japan launch. None of the consoles are exactly killing it in Japan at any rate.

I'd have posted it directly to the Xboner XO thread if it wasn't already in this one.

It's weird that the Japanese aren't really early adopters. They were that way with the 3DS as well -- took them a while to warm to it (but now, geez). Hope they eventually come around to the Vita like they did with the PSP. You'd think with so much being from Japanese companies, that the Japanese would want the latest tech, but it doesn't seem so. Wonder if they rush for the latest mobile phone releases or wait on them as well.

Hmm. I've always use XB1, but I like that abbreviation. It looks like the emoticon for the face Yuhsef Mehdi should have been making when he saw that picture...or every month when NPDs come out.

When typing, I seem to use that one the most, but I think I've used all of the variations. XO, X1, XB1, XBO, XB1tAiOES...

It's lose-lose anymore around here. Post it in the PS thread and it's off topic. Post it in the X1 thread and you're starting a flame war. I don't think anyone here is intentionally vindictive. It's all for discussion or a laugh. There are 1-2 people that get their panties in a wad over anything remotely negative and run to the mods. It's absurd.

I wasn't the one that reported anything to mods either, but since we're generalizing there's also 1-2 people that posted nothing but flame bait for other consoles that ruined it for everyone. That was also absurd.

I'm sure i'll get flak and denials since I think some associate me with the "other side," but if you guys are trying to play the blame game let's be fair here...

If you look at the majority of the premiere Japanese games, they're not really pushing the envelope in terms of tech. Monster Hunter is almost a system seller at this point but isn't astonishing from a technical standpoint, and Dragon Quest, well, the last non online iteration did fine on the 3DS. I am a bit surprised that the Vita is not doing better, but there doesn't seem to be a lot in the next gen console libraries to woo Japanese fans to upgrade, let alone to a One if they already have a preference for Sony.

Though I thought at least Titanfall would make some kind of impact. Maybe if they licensed it out to Bandai and skinned it with Gundam...

I thought this came up before, but it seems like the Japanese console market in general has been down this generation; are they just more in to little mobile games these days?

Oh, even the portables are down? The best selling games seem to be on the 3DS.

But what do I know, I actually spend more time playing this stupid Marvel Puzzle Quest game than either of my next gen consoles.

Oh i'm not sure about portables, but along with the XBox's pitiful launch it seemed like PS4 and Wii U were down as well, or at least lackluster. I thought I remembered someone saying that the Japanese market as a whole seemed to be shifting away to other things.

I think they're just big fans of the PS3, not so interested in updated graphics or shooters and are more than happy to keep playing PS3 games (which keep coming out at a good clip there).

Is anyone else running out of their cloud space to backup their game saves due to the 1.5gb given to us being eaten up by game saves that are over 100mb in size? I am already starting to run into the auto-backup halt due to saves from games like Trial Fusion being something like 110mb in size. They either need to put a cap on game save sizes or increase our cloud backup space to 10gb.

Wow. No, I haven't. That would suck. You should let them know. I might try to post something with the next PS Plus update. We need to have enough space for our online game save back-ups.

Jeft Gerstmann mentioned on the latest Bombcast that he has already run into this as well. Maybe Sony undervalued the power of the cloud?

Not just the fact that some saves are just absurdly large but that everytime you play the game and it uploads your new 100mb save it chews up your monthly bandwidth. The fact that there are game saves of only progress and stats that larger than 10mb each is ridiculous.

Then there was NBA2K14, which I had to shut off autos aves for, because each time it saved it would create a new save that was like 70mb. I was running out of space and looke at my online and NBA was taking up well over 600mb.

Trying to get my PS4 and free 30 day PSN set up but keep getting address error on credit card segment. I've tried different permutations and aligned to credit card statement. No joy.

Any ideas?

After I backed out though main screen seemed more populated. So maybe it still signed me up for PSN?

My advice would be to forgo that free offer unless you simply can't afford a yearly subscription and buy a Plus code from Amazon. I don't put my credit card information in Sony's system for obvious reasons despite it likely being much safer now than it was then. Now, if they let you have the 30 days without putting a credit card in then it would be nice but that is obviously nor the case.
