Bigger changes are reserved for VATS, or the "Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System." In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, hitting the left bumper on your controller would freeze time completely, allowing you to target specific enemies and their weak spots using a number-driven system of probabilities and critical hit rolls. And while the latter elements are still present, the safety of frozen time is nowhere to be found. VATS now slows time down to a crawl instead, which is still useful, mind, but not godlike in its broad, ass-saving applications.

Re: Fallout 4

Yeah, some reviewers are saying that the game is more hardcore than expected. Than it feels like a 90's game.
And of course that you die a lot, if you want to play it like a game from the last... 5 years? (With exceptions of course)

I really hope they activate the game at 12:00 am EST, 9 PM PSt, so I can start playing tonight, being in California.

Re: Fallout 4

Hopefully a difficulty slider will make things not as hard. It's already a long game with lots to do - I don't need that playtime padded by having to replay a lot of sections due to dying a lot.

Re: Fallout 4

I'm pretty sure someone will come up with a mod that freezes time when in VATS. In fact I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen in the next day or so.

BTW, the higher the difficulty the better the loot.

Anyone playing on the PC will probably want this mod:

I've seen screenshots and the difference is very nice.

I'm not concerned with the VATS changes. It sounds more realistic now.

Because when I think Fallout I think "realistic".

Anyone buy the Quantum Cola at Target? I'm tempted for shits and giggles (hopefully the former won't actually happen).

Re: Fallout 4

I'm planning on hitting up Target for some Quantum right after I pick up Fallout from Best Buy, so hopefully they actually have it in stock.

Yeah I'm not too concerned either. From what I've read they said basically you can't treat it as a pause screen anymore, but it still slows down time drastically.

Sounds like it really won't make too much of a difference unless maybe you're surrounded by a ton of enemies.

It shows as In Stock in some stores around my area. But the closest ones are out of stock, of course.

Re: Fallout 4

Same, most stores show no stock near me. I'm guessing most haven't gotten their shipments yet.

It's got a street date too. I tried to buy one on Sunday. They wouldn't sell it.

Just got back from Target and they didn't have shit. There's another Target in the area but I'm not going out of my way for some stupid drink.

Re: Fallout 4

I really wish there's a way to mark houses you've looted as cleared like the dungeons in Skyrim. I'm already going back to previously cleared houses.
