Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I see some TV ads, an ad that runs continuously on the PS4 demos in retail stores, many blog posts and they shot that nice live-action ad. It's not like they're giving it the Puppeteer treatment here. I think the true ad blitz will start next week after the Titanfall hype settles down. No point spending your $$$ now, trying to shout over that.

"The Puppeteer Treatment" is exactly what I'm talking about.
A great game that would have been a better launch title than Knack, sent out to die. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Does Sony really market any one game in particular? Most of their commercials are snippets of their current lineup whereas MS focuses on the hottest new game. I'd have expected Infamous and The Show 14 to be all over the place right now... but nothing.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
my thought is there have not been enough consoles available to warrant mass marketing to the casual consumer .... most gamers (and those who own the systems that were available) already are in the loop in terms of knowing what inFAMOUS is and that it is coming out
Sony may just think this is money better spent later in time on the other hand MS appears to have plenty of hardware available that they need to move off of shelves and thus they have spent the farm with non stop spots for both the hardware and software once again I think Sony is in a much better position |

Or maybe because of the way Puppeteer sold even after all of the marketing

Look great, but will it ever take place during daylight?

Day 1 for me regardless, but do these graphics really shout "Next Gen!!"?? If you told me this was footage from the PS3, I wouldn't be surprised.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
There's no way the PS3 handles those lighting or particle effects

I disagree with the general idea. Take Gears of War in the previous generation. Microsoft marketing machine really sold that game. They had record sales with Gears of War 3, billions of dollars. I Sony really tried they would be able to do the same with this new inFamous game.
Back to Infamous: Second Son. It's partly why I bought a PS4 recently, because there were a lot of really good games on the PS3 I wish I'd had the opportunity to play. Hopefully they will be offered with that streaming service or whatever is supposed to come out and I can catch up. |

That's a great point about The Show 14. Sony could be marketing the PS4 as the go-to machine for dudebro sports gamers with the only MLB game on the market and superior versions of NBA and FIFA, but they aren't.

why should Sony blow their marketing load now when the retail channel doesn't have the inventory of hardware to make it worthwhile are people going to go ohhh that game looks cool ... I'll go out and buy it at full price now and just wait till I can get a console to play it on eventually?! |

you can disagree but I don't recall any major shortage of Xbox 360's

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
That's why I said the general idea.
We know inFamous 2 numbers (VGchartz: 1.6 millions). We know that Sony has sold more than 6 million PS4s. This new inFamous game should sell more than 4 million if Sony really tried. That's why I mention Gears of War. That's one of my favorites, but its nowhere close to COD, or even Halo. But at the right moment Microsoft was able to sell more than 5 million units of that game! |

Wait two weeks, and there will be more. It's all just a ploy to generate demand with having a limited supply. |
