inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)

This seems like a big enough, highly anticipated-enough PS4 title to warrant its own thread. Everything about it is looking great. Sucker Punch is once again developing the game. Here's today's Gamescom trailer <iframe width="480" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/o-B40rzJHOY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> And here's some E3 Gameplay video from 2 months ago. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Uibnf_Q_51s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I'm down for this on day one. I thought Infamous was easily the most underrated franchise of the last generation.
|
Underrated? It's always been considered a system seller. Is it considered as big as Uncharted? No, but the difference is really minimal.

re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I think he maybe meant "overshadowed" rather than underrated.

re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
being back with Sony with the PS4...last PS was PS2...I had to go back in history of this game. The first time I saw Second Son I was like....wow, this could be something different to play. The more I see of this the more I can see me getting it come Qtr 1 of 2014. Honestly, I'm glad it's scheduled for then...there's alot coming out this year and don't forget the FTP games like Warframe, Planetside 2 and War Thunder....all of which you can put some serious playtime into.

FWIW, Saints Row IV reminds me a LOT of Infamous, if you've got an itch to scratch.

Infamous: Second Son's second power is 'neon'
http://www.shacknews.com/article/808...-power-is-neon http://cf.shacknews.com/images/20130...26995.nphd.jpg Infamous: Second Son has you playing as a new character--one that can absorb the powers of other mutants. So far, developer Sucker Punch has focused exclusively on Dreslin's smoke ability, which lets him hover across long distances, jump up buildings through pipes, and cause things to explode. His second power? Neon. "When you're playing as a neon powered hero, it's not like playing like a smoke guy,” creative director Nate Fox told IGN. "The smoke powers are all about speed and getting in and out quickly, whaling on guys, and zipping up the sides of buildings. But as a neon player, the tempo is different." Exactly what "neon" will let you do is still unclear, as Fox shied away from actually explaining it further. However, you can see a tease at the end of the game's last trailer. It appears to let you access memories somehow--presumably seen through a purple haze of sorts. |

Looks awesome but I haven't even played the second game.

Yea...I saw that latest trailer with the Neon...the lighting and particle effects were really impressive. Another one to follow...

The second game was okay, but I didn't love it.

I recall the second one feeling repetitive by the end as well.

Nothing really grabbing me there, at least assuming that Cole's Legacy will eventually be available as separate DLC. |

'Infamous: Second Son' Pre-order Limited Edition and Collector's Edition Detailed
http://www.highdefdigest.com/images/.../original.jpeg Sucker Punch's 'Infamous: Second Son' is coming to the PS4 next year. The game already has a pre-order bonus in the form of in-game vests, but today the company shared that not only would pre-order be upgraded foil cover, but would also include Cole's Legacy DLC. Cole's Legacy DLC is "additional downloadable content you’ll be able to play that uncovers what happened between the devastating events of Infamous 2 and Infamous: Second Son." "Cole MacGrath’s actions in New Marias set in motion a chain of events leading to the now forceful occupation of Seattle by the oppressive Department of Unified Protection. Cole’s Legacy bridges this gap in time with a series of missions Delsin Rowe must complete that reveal unique insights into how the world of Infamous: Second Son came to be." This Limited Edition is being billed as truly limited, and Cole's Legacy DLC will not be available at launch outside of the pre-order offer and CE. The Collector's Edition will include the game, CE packaging, Cole's Legacy DLC, as well as set of physical goods that includes a replica Delsin's beanie, a set of pins, decals, and a DUP patch. Pricing for CE has not yet been announced. http://www.highdefdigest.com/picture/original/43516.jpg http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...Detailed/12858 |

If I ever wore a beanie when it wasn't very very cold out, I'd be super tempted to punch myself in the face.

Bumping this thread. Only just over a month away now!
inFAMOUS Second Son Hands-on: Great Power, Great Responsibility + Posted by Ryan Clements // Social Media Specialist http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7405/1...aa5c11ab_z.jpg Delsin Rowe strolls down a shadowy length of docks with ample confidence. Caches of illegal drugs have been hidden among the houseboats moored there, which is a disagreeable notion to our super-powered, rough-around-the-edges hero. But with eye-searing neon and seething smoke at his disposal, Delsin has little to fear from the drug peddlers peppering him with gunfire. Bullets ricochet off the flashing neon light around his head as he flinches — they’re more an annoyance than a danger. As he leaps into the air to greet his enemies, powers flaring to life, he can destroy them or subdue them. And that’s up to the player. Choice has always played a vital role in the inFAMOUS series, and inFAMOUS Second Son is no exception. Amidst all the open-world action that developer Sucker Punch has set in its own Seattle, Delsin can enter combat as a careful hero or a ruthless force. These methods of play not only affect how each battle scene is approached, but how Delsin’s powers manifest themselves. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3712/1...47e0e1ea_n.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7358/1...5418f49e_n.jpg Smoke and neon, the two powers Sucker Punch has revealed so far, can cater to either play style. Players unconcerned with the lives of civilians can wreak havoc without fear, weaponizing the environment to destroy enemy APCs, or plunging into the ground to unleash devastating shockwaves that don’t differentiate between enemy DUP agents and innocent bystanders. But Second Son also empowers heroic players in this digital playground. Players can modify Delsin’s basic neon blast with a slow-motion aim that highlights an enemy’s leg, tangling them in glowing binds. Subdued, they’re no longer a threat to Delsin, but they needn’t lose their lives to his super-human barrage. When Delsin gets in close to stunned enemies, small prompts on screen allow players to choose between executing and subduing their targets. With one button press, Delsin can vaporize an enemy soldier in a flash of glittering light, or leave him struggling on the ground with a battered ego. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3806/1...7e87d82c_z.jpg Click here to see the full gallery Like past inFAMOUS games, these choices dramatically alter the way players perceive each scene. Crowded tunnels teeming with civilians may be a challenging test of patience and skill, or a gleeful shooting gallery. Regardless of a player’s preference, Delsin’s powers encourage both styles of play. Even traversal skills like the smoke-fueled dash can be turned into a lethal attack or an exercise in restraint. But the choices presented to Delsin don’t all erupt in the heat of combat. When he catches up with the hot-headed Conduit known as Fetch, Delsin can take her under his wing and redeem her, or encourage her violent tendencies and corrupt her. These choices not only alter the course of the narrative, but change the mission sets presented to players afterwards. With so much power at his fingertips, Delsin can save a lot of lives in inFAMOUS Second Son… or he can leave a long trail of bodies. Ultimately, that choice is up to the player when Second Son launches for PS4 on March 21st. |

re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
This is looking better each time a new trailer comes out. The detail on this reminds me of Killzone in a way. I've spent about half the time shooting enemies and the other half shooting snapshots. Take a picture and then destroy...

re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Second Son has gone gold apparently.
The buzz on this one is subdued despite it looking absolutely jaw-dropping. Sony needs to learn how to market their first party games. Depending on reviews, I'll probably get this close to launch. |
