Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I don't think the acting is bad by any means. Clearly this Troy Baker knows what he's doing and was just about perfect as Joel and as Booker DeWitt. I just don't think he was right for this part (and that's without having any knowledge of who voiced the part or how old the vocal actor actually was). The guy who was perfect as a grizzled, burned-out middle aged war veteran in 1912 shouldn't be the guy you cast as a 22 year old Inuit graffiti-spraying punk.
I'm a huge George Clooney fan, but just because I think he's great doesn't mean I think he's perfect for any male role. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
You don't need to get 100% of the game done before you reach the end. The game lets you keep playing after it's over to finish up any missions you "skipped".
Also, if you've already cleared all the areas to 0 before the final fight, then Spoiler:

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Boy did I have a scare last night...I was at the very end of "Fetch" and then ...Wham...TV blacked out. My first thought was the game crashed, bug or worse the PS4 glitched. Turned out the Plasma went into a Safe Mode for some reason; only second time it's done that. Talk about timing...when I got the TV back up I was faced with the choice on Fetch. Between that and near the end of trying to convince Fetch did I miss anything?

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Thanks...the set blacked out at the end of her "History"...which happened to be blacked out for a few seconds anyways. I was like...do I hit a button or what and nothing happened and that when I was like oh-oh...not good. I missed about 10-15 seconds.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Finished 100% on evil tonight. Fantastic game. I'm docking it a point for having a "12th Fan" jacket, but giving that point back for having an "X Bone" jacket.
Solid 9/10 The fourth power has some really really cool animations, but it's not terribly useful. The third power is where it's at. It's the perfect balance of speed, stealth, distraction and power, and it's really fun to run around Seattle with it even after you finish the game. I'll take a fairly direct path through hard/good, just getting blast shards and doing story missions. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Just started to play this an hour or so ago but I have to give them lots of credit for right off the bat for having the player do something very different and cool with the controller. It might of been brought up before but I was only skimming this thread previously.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I'm a ways off of finishing the "Good Side"...across the other side of the bridge. But to those playing the "Evil Side" what level did you play...medium, hard or expert?
|
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I played whatever the default is...medium, I assume.
I'm going to try to be super efficient with my good playthrough on hard/expert and will only engage in the fights I absolutely have to in order to keep the story moving and to get enough blast shards to be effective. I really enjoyed the evil playthrough. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
This game is starting to drag for me a bit. I feel like it is more of a chore to clear out each area than it is fun.

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I just passed 50% completion. I still really like it. Using Neon a lot more than smoke on Good. It's easier to keep from killing civilians but the main reason it's easier is if I'm down on health, I can just turn around and run away as fast as I can just like Jenny told me to do. It is annoying that head shots count as an Evil kill - when enemies are half way behind cover, I have to try really hard to not shoot them or they end my Karma Streak.
When you play as Evil, does killing random people on the streets count as increasing your Karma Streak? If so, that must make you have the Air Drop power-up all the time. |

Have you done most of the trophy's? Some can only be done with "Good or Evil". Seems both ways are different entirely on your playthru. I sort of know what you mean but I'm looking forward to playing "Evil" when I'm done with "Good".
I also have a few combat trophies to do as well. |

Technical breakdown of the title from Digital Foundry:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis Apparently the framerate is pretty steady about 30 fps but is unlocked so it has some hiccups. Otherwise yeah, impressive. |

I'd speculate that it's probably harder to keep the "ultimate" charged on evil because you have a timer on your kill streak where you can be more deliberate on good. But I won't know for sure until tonight when I start my good campaign. |

Anyone already wondering what Sucker Punch might do with Infamous later on, a good article to read here...

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
In some ways, the game feels like a demo. Or at least incomplete. I mean the story is woefully short. They stripped it down to the bone, without any kind of subplot whatsoever.
I made the decision to clear out the districts before advancing the story. The first island I did exclusively with Smoke since I didn't play the mission to get Neon until after I had everything done. Because of that, I had the full power of Neon right after acquiring it. Same with the other two powers. I don't want to say the game is half-assed, as there are many great qualities to it. But everything feels either simplified or shortened from previous games. The map is small, far fewer blast shards to find, far fewer but far more repetitive side quests. And it just seems weird that they save the last power you get for the final boss battle. I mean the final boss of a game should be about using the skills you've built up along the way, not toss them aside to learn yet another technique, turning it into yet another tutorial. I like the game, it just feels incomplete. |

Yeah, makes me re-evaluate the departure of Jaime Griesemer

Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
I appreciated that it was more focused (and therefore replayable) than the prior games. I didn't even finish Infamous 2, because I found all of the side stuff in it a little bit overwhelming, and every time I branched off and did a bunch of them, I lost track of and interest in whatever story they were trying to tell.
The only things I really missed from previous games were the timed parkour runs (hard to execute with multiple powers) and some of the scripted incidents. I also wouldn't mind if the shards were a little harder to find. Different strokes, I guess. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Well the game is not even a week old and I wouldn't be surprised we'll see some additional DLC that might enhance the gameplay with some new stuff and challenges. You have a very detailed whole city right there...why not use it?
|
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
Good point. I'm still enjoying it a lot. Yes, it's repeditive, but with the powers being so fun (and I'm still working on getting the third one), I don't really mind it at all (except for the Secret Agent missions -- I still hate them, but after a few attempts I can get by with neon sniping).
Funny, but I had the hardest time on one of the Hidden Camera missions. Usually they're dead easy, but this one (under an overpass in an empty field) was SO frustrating. I never did find the camera after over a half hour of searching. Eventually I noticed my reticle turn red and zapped the stupid hidden thing without ever actually seeing it. |
Re: inFAMOUS Second Son (3/21/2014)
 at all these people getting tired of the game... you realize you're putting in over 10 hours into a game over the course of just a couple days? I don't think there's a single thing on the planet I wouldn't get tired of doing for so many hours over so few days.
