I ordered Watch Dogs for the PS4 and was going to order Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (PS4) as well, but it's currently unavailable at BestBuy...

To put it another way, I know exactly what I'm getting with MS's network, and I like it. Judging from my experiences with PS3, Sony has a lot to prove in that area before I'm ready to jump on board. I'd imagine lots of people who spent this generation "partying up" with friends whenever they play the latest release feel the same way.

Do we know that is how it is going to be in the "real world" and not just a local network?

Looks nice, but there is often a major difference between how a network works on stage in a presentation and out in the wild with millions of users hitting it.

Yes, what if I don't have a giant jib camera in my living room? How will it look then? Will I be able to see it then?

The PS4 online experience works, for the most part, just like it does on PS3 within the addition of a "party" option. Pressing UP from the LiveArea reveals the familiar looking XMB menu, where all the same features reside. IMO, it's still as clunky and complicated as ever to do any messaging/chat/friend request actions as before, which was a disappointment. If you like how it currently works, you'll be fine.
I love the simplicity of just hitting the Xbox guide button and only having one or two button presses at most to do anything, as opposed to navigating numerous menus.

Don't game with anyone but randoms on 360 so I couldn't care less how it works on PS4. If there are users online and I can connect to games, I'm good to go.

They've stated their intent very clearly, and have shown us what they want to do in multiple settings now...everything from twitter, to media interviews, to youtube videos to live demonstrations on-stage by the president of Sony WWS. The assertion that Sony hasn't communicated or answered questions about the PS4 is simply a red herring.
The only thing I have questions about is Gaikai, and they are rightly skipping those questions until it's ready to show. I suppose they've also held their future software close to the vest, but I can't hold that against them given that it's the smart thing to do.

I'm not asking them anything. As I said, I'm waiting to hear the reaction from consumers when it's out in the wild.

I think I speak for everybody when I say thank God.
Pretty much exactly stuff like this. MS is out there doing stuff and talking to people promoting the benefits of their product.
Sony is sending out "clever" tweets and doing nothing.
It really comes down to Sony being too cocky and thinking they already won mixed with the fact that they still have nothing of real interest announced. Heck, they still don't have things running on retail kits (unless PAX changed that) whereas MS does despite their made up reports of console manufacturing problems and them not being ready to ship.

I wasn't arguing, just responding to another post and agreeing. Thanks for the amazing input "guy who has never posted anything in any video game thread I have ever seen" ! Douche

I have fictitious sources who claim that the government has become highly concerned about the damage caused by the recurring console wars. Congress went into a secret session which authorized President Obama to use military force to wipe out the supporters of the losing consoles. So, for once, the winning console will actually matter.

You are right though. I guess it would be better if I posted "Xbox RULZ, PS4 SUX !!!" 50 times a day. Feeling pretty bad about myself right now.

Well, to be fair, stu never actually said that. He's pretty unbiased and undoubtedly honest. At the end of June, when Microsoft announced that they'd be giving away Defense Grid (a six year old game, BTW), he said this:
and then clarified:
At that point in time, this is what had been given away from PS Plus :
Microsoft had given away Fable 3 and Defense Grid.
That's the sort of objectivity we're dealing with here.
I clearly said that to me, personally, PS+ is useless because it is. Has nothing to do with you guys enjoying it, but it is still all old games that have no value to me. On the other hand, I have never played either Fable 3 or Defense Grid (maybe still never will) so to me, these two older free games I have never played is more interesting than PS+. For the record, I have a year of PS+. Downloaded Infamous 2 and never played it...that sums it up for me. Apparently it is to the point around here where saying anything remotely positive about MS gets you blasted, forgive me.

Spoiler:
Microsoft had given away Fable 3 and Defense Grid.

Gosh Deb, you're late to the party.
Well, the Xbox One was supposed to
1: Be online at least once a day to check ownership, or the system wouldn't function even for playing games offline
2: Have a complicated sort of partial-digital ownership of games making all games essentially digital purchases
3: Have another complicated system for loaning games out and only allowing for selling games at participating retailers.
4: Not allow any sort of game rentals (at least initially)
5: Allow some sort of digital game sharing with up to 10 "family members" (that was never fully explained)
6: Require that the Kinect be plugged in at all times to operate the system (though it could be disabled)
All these policies have been changed and are now totally in line with current game systems (and the PS4)
